    Get PDF
© ISUCT Publishing. A consolidated review on the synthesis of lower rim tetrasubstituted thiacalixarenes and their self-assembly on the soft surfaces contributed from our group is presented. The approaches for the synthesis of different types of tetra-O-substituted thiacalixarenes from the last 10 years are discussed. In addition, amphiphilic macrocycles in 1,3-alternate conformation form monolayers at the interface and are effectively embedded into the vesicles. Decorated by thiacalixarenes nanolayers and vesicles demonstrate a high selectivity towards specific analytes

Calixarene-based supramolecular systems: a platform for nanomaterials design by self-assembly

Lower rim thiacalix[4]arenes derivatives in cone and 1,3-alternate conformations have many advantages to create a wide range of precursors for the design of very sophisticated supramolecular architectures. These compounds can be considered as technological platform for nanomaterials design by self-assembly method. Particular attention will be paid to the application of calixarene derivatives for the construction of various supramolecular and nanosystems, devices and smart materials: colloid nanoparticles, catalytic systems, metalcoordinated networks, Langmuir-Blodgett nanolayers, molecular magnets etc.The authors gratefully acknowledge of the RSF (19-13-00095 and 18-73-10033) for the financial support

Aim. To compare the efficacy and safety of prasugrel, ticagrelor, or clopidogrel as part of dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) due to myocardial infarction (MI).Material and methods. The observational study included 74 patients who underwent PCI due to MI within the first 24 hours after the onset. The patients were devided into 3 groups: group 1 — patients who received ticagrelor as part of DAPT; group 2 — clopidogrel, group 3 — prasugrel. The follow-up period was 28 days. To assess the efficacy and safety of therapy, a composite endpoint was assessed (death + nonfatal recurrent MI (and/or stent rethrombosis) + nonfatal ischemic stroke (IS). Additional secondary endpoints were any moderate and severe (major) bleeding according to the GUSTO and/or TIMI scales. We assessed the incidence of reperfusion arrhythmias, an opening of an infarct-related coronary artery (IRCA), and non-ST elevation myocardial infarction (non-STEMI).Results. The analysis showed no significant differences in the cumulative incidence of adverse outcomes in the study groups within 28 days. The prevalence of secondary endpoints over a 28-day follow-up period was 3,1% in the ticagrelor group and 5,9% in the clopidogrel group, while no moderate and life-threatening bleeding was recorded in the prasugrel group during. There were no significant differences in the incidence of reperfusion arrhythmias, opening of an IRCA, and non-STEMI between the groups.Conclusion. The obtained results suggest the comparable efficacy and safety profiles of prasugrel, ticagrelor and clopidogrel as a part of DAPT in patients undergoing PCI due to MI. There were no significant differences in endpoint event rates. In particular, prasugrel has been shown to be as effective and safe as ticagrelor

The effect of the August 21, 2017 total solar eclipse on the phase of VLF/LF signals

An experimental study of the phase and amplitude observations of sub‐ionospheric very low and low frequency signals is performed to analyse the response of the lower ionosphere during the August 21, 2017 total solar eclipse in the United States of America. Three different sub‐ionospheric wave paths are investigated. The length of the paths varies from 2200 to 6400 km and the signal frequencies are 21.4 kHz, 25.2 kHz and 40.75 kHz. The two paths cross the region of the total eclipse and the third path is in the region of 40‐60% of obscuration. None of the signals reveal any noticeable amplitude changes during the eclipse while negative phase anomalies (from ‐33° to ‐95°) are detected for all three paths. It is shown that the effective reflection height of the ionosphere in low and middle latitudes is increased by about 3‐5 km during the eclipse. Estimation of the electron density change in the lower ionosphere caused by the eclipse, using linear recombination law, shows that the average decrease is by 2.1 to 4.5 times

Cavernous form of tuberculosis being important in its clinical aspects is presented with the reference to pathogenesis, morphogenesis, structure of cavitary wall as acute pneumoniogenic cavity, bronchogenic cavity, cavity from the focus with pre-existing capsule, without expressed fibrosis, with perifocal changes and without them, with semination foci and without them. The statement of the long-lasting impropriety of official statistic rates received through current clinical classification of tuberculosis (ICD-10) explains the increase oftuberculosis prevalence and raises the need to review the classification oftuberculosis and points atthe urgency oftuberculosis control actions adequate for current unfavorable epidemic situation

© 2016, Springer Science+Business Media New York.New bis-ammonium thiacalix[4]arene derivatives with different lipophilicity were synthesized using copper(I)-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition in good yields. Binding of a new thiacalix[4]arene derivatives with bovine serum albumin (BSA) was investigated in detail using fluorescence spectroscopy method. Quenching mechanism, the binding constants, and number of binding sites were determined

Successive functionalization of p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene afforded a bifunctional derivative containing photopolymerizable pentacosa-10,12-diynoic acid fragments on the upper rim and propargyl groups on the lower rim of the macrocycle having a cone structure. The functionalization can be readily accomplished via copper-catalyzed azide–alkyne cycloaddition under mild conditions

Novel amphiphilic conjugates of: P-tert -butylthiacalix[4]arene with 10,12-pentacosadiynoic acid in 1,3- alternate stereoisomeric form. Synthesis and chromatic properties in the presence of metal ions

© 2018 The Royal Society of Chemistry and the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique. For the first time amphiphilic receptors based on the 1,3-alternate stereoisomeric form of thiacalix[4]arene, bearing carboxyl/sulphonate polar headgroups on one side and 10,12-pentacosadiynoic acid (PCDA) residues on another side of the macrocyclic plane, were synthesized. It was shown that embedding of synthesized macrocycles in PCDA vesicles results in stable colloids with a size around 300 nm. The temperature of ultrasonication before UV irradiation has a critical impact on the packing of vesicles for better polymerization. The increase of calixarene content in PCDA vesicles causes a decrease in the degree of PCDA polymerization. Nevertheless, calixarene additives dramatically change the colorimetric response of photopolymerized PCDA vesicles toward metal ions. Vesicles with 10 mol% content of calixarene have significant colorimetric response toward lanthanide ions with a detection limit up to 8 μM. The colorimetric response in the series of lanthanide ions depends on the ionic radius, and the greatest response was found for the largest La(iii) ion. It was found that binding of calixarene-PCDA vesicles with lanthanide ions results in the formation of large 1 μm aggregates followed by sedimentation. Thus, the mechanism of colorimetric response of calixarene-decorated polydiacetylene vesicles toward lanthanide ions includes the distortion of the calixarene cavity provoking perturbation of the PDA backbone accompanied by metal-induced aggregation of functionalized vesicles with sedimentation of particles. Therefore, calixarene-PCDA vesicles have great potential for the future design of bifunctional colloids with sensor and separation applications
