Enabling Task Level Parallelism in HandelC

    Get PDF
HandelC is a programming language used to target hardware and is similar in syntax to ANSI-C. HandelC offers constructs that allow programmers to express instruction level parallelism. Also, HandelC offers primitives that allow task level parallelism. However, HandelC does not offer any runtime support that enables programmers to express task level parallelism efficiently. This thesis discusses this issue and suggests a support library called HCthreads as a solution. HCthreads offers a subset of Pthreads functionality and interface relevant to the HandelC environment. This study offers means to identify the best configuration of HCthreads to achieve the highest speedups in real systems. This thesis investigates the issue of integrating HandelC within platforms not supported by Celoxica. A support library is implemented to solve this issue by utilizing the high level abstractions offered by Hthreads. This support library abstracts away any HWTI specific synchronization making the coding experience quite close to software. HCthreads is proven effective and generic for various algorithms with different threading behaviors. HCthreads is an adequate method to implement recursive algorithms even if no task level parallelism is warranted. Not only HCthreads offers such versatility, it achieves modest speedups over instruction level parallelism ad-hoc approaches. The Hthreads support library served its intended purpose by allowing HCthreads real system tests to proceed on a third party platform. No major issues were reported while conducting these tests, still additional investigation and verification is required

Near-field Sensors with Machine Learning for Breast Tumor Detection

    Get PDF
In this work, we propose the use of an electrically small novel antenna as a probe combined with a classification algorithm for nearfield microwave breast tumor detection. The resonant probe ishighly sensitive to the changes in the electromagnetic properties of the breast tissues such that the presence of the tumor is estimatedby determining the changes in the magnitude and phase responseof the reflection coefficient of the sensor. The Principle Component placed at the middle of the probe as shown in Fig. 1. The mainAnalysis (PCA) feature extraction method is applied to emphasize the difference in the probe responses for both the healthy and thetumourous cases . We show that when a numerical realistic breast with and without tumor cells is placed in the near field of the probe, the probe is capable of distinguishing between healthy and tumorous tissue. In addition, the probe is able to identify tumors with various sizes placed in single locations

The purpose of study to evaluate the Most significant Modifiable Factor Associated With Patients Previously Diagnosed with Prediabetes and Developed to T2DM in all Hail region,, because 38% of Saudi people with or at risk of diabetes mellitus and the Saudi Arabia Kingdom occupied the first position in middle east and north Africa proportion of DM with and the number may extended. 43, 45 also Hail and Tabouk became the highest proportion of DM in KSA followed by Riyadh and Medina. Method: Quantitative, non-experimental descriptive corelational design, because the study wants to indentify empirical relationship between causal and effect on the time and describe the relationship without explains the mechanism. Result: The most significant modifiable factor develop prediabetes to T2DM is increasing the body mass index more than normal, physical activity and total cholesterol plays also an important role to develop also prediabetes, and finally large portion of obese patients and patient how is physically inactive; cannot control of blood glucose level  which reflect my significant of study Hail City and Tabouk considered the highest two city of incidence of Type2 DM and these two city and others cities in same country make Saudi Arabia populations are the highest country with patient diagnosed of T2DM in middle east and north AfricaConclusion: our study found that support our hypothesis ( Modifiable factor -includes body mass index, cholesterol level and physical activity - for patients previously diagnosed with prediabetes increases the risk of type two diabetes mellitus) Keywords: type two diabetes, pre-diabetes, dyslipidemia, obesity, smoking, body mass index, physical activit

In this study induced air flotation (IAF) through Perspex glass column (ID 10cm and 150 cm heights) has been studied experimentally to treat the oily wastewater of Iraqi North Oil Company. The column operated in a semi-batch mode (batch wastewater, continuous air injection). Different samples of oily wastewater (30,100,800ppm) were used. Air introduced at different superficial gas velocity through porous (pore size 120µm) distributor which located at the bottom of column. Different speed of the stirrer (50 to 250) rpm was used to indicate it effect on the removal efficiency of oil from water. The study showed that the removal efficiency of oil was increased with increasing initial oil concentration, it reached up to 76 %. While it became 89% when using stirrer. The experimental results were translated to a computer program to predicate empirical correlation

The goal of this study was to examine to what extent learning disabilities teachers, in Jeddah governorate, use evidence-based approaches in teaching mathematics to students with learning disabilities, and to see whether there were any differences according to sex, education level, teaching level, training courses, and experience. The researchers employed a descriptive methodology using a survey questionnaire. The study population consisted of all elementary and middle school teachers who teach students learning disabilities. The study participants included 248 teachers of students with learning disabilities. The findings of the study showed that the level of implementing evidence-based techniques in teaching mathematics to students with learning difficulties is moderate. The findings also revealed that there were no statistically significant differences in the mean scores of math teachers’ responses with regards to the implementation of evidence-based techniques according to gender and grade level. However, the results showed statistically significant differences in favor of teachers with graduate study degrees, the access to training courses variable for those who have already obtained training courses in mathematics, and the number of years of experience in favor of 6 -10 category. Keywords: Learning disabilities, evidence-based practices, math disabilities, teacher

Comparing the efficacy and safety of faecal microbiota transplantation with bezlotoxumab in reducing the risk of recurrent Clostridium difficile infections:a systematic review and Bayesian network meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials

    Get PDF
The risk of recurrent Clostridium difficile infections (RCDIs) is high when treated with standard antibiotics therapy (SAT) alone. It is suggested that the addition of faecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) or bezlotoxumab after SAT reduces the risk of RCDI. In the absence of head-to-head randomised controlled trials (RCTs), this review attempts to compare the efficacy and safety of bezlotoxumab with FMT in reducing the risk of RCDI in hospitalised patients.Open access journalThis item from the UA Faculty Publications collection is made available by the University of Arizona with support from the University of Arizona Libraries. Who Is at Risk for New Hepatitis B Infections Among People With HIV?

    Get PDF
Hepatitis B virus (HBV) increases morbidity and mortality among people with HIV (PWH). We retrospectively analyzed HBV incidence among 5785 PWH. Fourteen had newly positive hepatitis B s antigen (mean 5.2 person-years of follow-up, 46.4/100 000 infections/year). These data show gaps in HBV vaccination and in the preventative efficacy of HBV-specific antiretroviral therapy

Fluid Inclusions Usage for Assessing Oil Migration in Duhok, North of Iraq

    Get PDF
Studies of primary and secondary fluid inclusions were done on epigenetic barite samples which collected from carbonates in Lower part of Sarmord Formation (Lower Cretaceous and Aqra-Bekhme Formations (Upper Cretaceous) in Duhok localities of North of Iraq. Lead isotopes composition in galena which associated barite that contained fluid inclusions helped the identification two events of fluid inclusions. These fluid inclusions contain brine water and hydrocarbons. Primary and secondary fluid inclusions in barite as well as lead isotopes composition in galena helped the interpretation of oil migration history and the pathway of oil migration. Ages of galena are syngronous with the events of oil and water trapping as inclusions within barite, and hence the interpreted galena generation could be assigned to the fluid inclusions age. Accordingly, the events are two phases of early and late generations that correspond to 120 m.y. and 30 m.y. respectively. Correlation with 10 PetroMod basin modeling of the generated oil from the Jurassic and Lower Cretaceous Formations fitted with the event of early galena generation, whereas the oil migration started before 70 m.y and continued to 30 m.y ago. Palynomorphs study confirms that the oil in source rocks is similar with the migrated oil
