    Was the GLE on May 17, 2012 linked with the M5.1-class flare the first in the 24th solar cycle?

    On May 17, 2012 an M5.1-class flare exploded from the sun. An O-type coronal mass ejection (CME) was also associated with this flare. There was an instant increase in proton flux with peak at 100\geq 100 MeV, leading to S2 solar radiation storm level. In about 20 minutes after the X-ray emission, the solar particles reached the Earth.It was the source of the first (since December 2006) ground level enhancement (GLE) of the current solar cycle 24. The GLE was detected by neutron monitors (NM) and other ground based detectors. Here we present an observation by the Tupi muon telescopes (Niteroi, Brazil, 220.9S22^{0}.9 S, 430.2W43^{0}.2 W, 3 m above sea level) of the enhancement of muons at ground level associated with this M5.1-class solar flare. The Tupi telescopes registered a muon excess over background 20%\sim 20\% in the 5-min binning time profile. The Tupi signal is studied in correlation with data obtained by space-borne detectors (GOES, ACE), ground based neutron monitors (Oulu) and air shower detectors (the IceTop surface component of the IceCube neutrino observatory). We also report the observation of the muon signal possibly associated with the CME/sheath striking the Earth magnetosphere on May 20, 2012. We show that the observed temporal correlation of the muon excess observed by the Tupi muon telescopes with solar transient events suggests a real physical connection between them. Our observation indicates that combination of two factors, the low energy threshold of the Tupi muon telescopes and the location of the Tupi experiment in the South Atlantic Anomaly region, can be favorable in the study and detection of the solar transient events. Our experiment provides new data complementary to other techniques (space and ground based) in the study of solar physics.Comment: 9 pages, 10 figure

    Estimating the inelasticity with the information theory approach

    Using the information theory approach, in both its extensive and nonextensive versions, we estimate the inelasticity parameter KK of hadronic reactions together with its distribution and energy dependence from ppˉp\bar{p} and pppp data. We find that the inelasticity remains essentially constant in energy except for a variation around K0.5K\sim 0.5, as was originally expected.Comment: 14 pages, 8 figures. Misprints correcte

    Observation Of Very High Energy Cosmic-ray Families In Emulsion Chambers At High Mountain Altitudes (i)

    Characteristics of cosmic-ray hadronic interactions in the 1015 - 1017 eV range are studied by observing a total of 429 cosmic-ray families of visible energy greater than 100 TeV found in emulsion chamber experiments at high mountain altitudes, Chacaltaya (5200 m above sea level) and the Pamirs (4300 m above sea level). Extensive comparisons were made with simulated families based on models so far proposed, concentrating on the relation between the observed family flux and the behaviour of high-energy showers in the families, hadronic and electromagnetic components. It is concluded that there must be global change in characteristics of hadronic interactions at around 1016 eV deviating from thise known in the accelerator energy range, specially in the forwardmost angular region of the collision. A detailed study of a new shower phenomenon of small-pT particle emissions, pT being of the order of 10 MeV/c, is carried out and its relation to the origin of huge "halo" phenomena associated with extremely high energy families is discussed as one of the possibilities.     The paper presents the results of the Osteoarthritis (OA) Expert Council held on September 8, 2019, which was attended by Russian and foreign specialists. The experts considered pharmacological treatment options for OA. The expert meeting resolution states that the treatment of patients with OA should be based on an individual assessment of the patient and on a modern evidence base of therapy efficacy.Treatment of patients with OA is based on the principles of evidence-based medicine that requires an integrated approach and the need of SYSADOAs prescription. Combined drugs with therapeutic dosages of chondroitin sulfate and glucosamine in the early stages of the disease are available as basic agents. The place of paracetamol in the anesthetic therapy algorithm in OA needs to be clarified. It is also noted that when choosing nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for OA treatment, it is important to take into account individual patient characteristics and the presence of comorbidities.Представлены результаты Экспертного совета по остеоартриту (ОА), проходившего 8 сентября 2019 г., в котором приняли участие российские и зарубежные специалисты. Рассматривались возможности фармакологического лечения ОА. В резолюции совещания указано, что лечение больных ОА должно быть основано на индивидуальной оценке состояния пациента и современных доказательствах эффективности терапии. Лечение больных ОА на основании принципов доказательной медицины предполагает комплексный подход и назначение SYSADOA. Комбинированные препараты с терапевтическими дозами хондроитина сульфата и глюкозамина уже на ранних стадиях заболевания рассматриваются в качестве базисных средств. Место парацетамола в алгоритме обезболивающей терапии при ОА требует уточнения. Отмечено также, что при выборе нестероидных противовоспалительных препаратов для лечения ОА важно учитывать индивидуальные особенности пациента и наличие коморбидных состояний

    Therapy of patients with disturbances of the locomotor system requires use of drugs to prevent venous thromboembolic complications. In addition to non-drug measures low-molecular heparins are the drugs of choice among coagulants at conservative therapy of traumas and in the post- operative period. The second generation low-molecular heparin – bemirin sodium – demonstrates high effectiveness and safety and might be applied by patients with medium and high degree of development of venous thromboembolic complications (VTEC)

    Method for early diagnosis of damage to the rotator cuff

    For the purpose of early diagnosis of rotator cuff tears we have developed a method based on the brachial plexus nerve block (RF patent №2138196, 27.09.1999). It was used in 22 patients with soft tissue injuries of the shoulder joint with conduction anesthesia (0.5% solution of lidocaine, procaine) into supraclavicular area. After approach of the differentiated block the pain was stopped, thus possibility of physical activity in a shoulder joint remained. Restoration of active abduction testified to partial damage of the rotator cuff, absence - about full. The received data were verified by ultrasound, surgical interventions and clinical observation. Sensitivity of our method is 88.2%, specificity - 80% and accuracy - 86,3%
