    Rare radiative leptonic decays B_{d,s}-> l^+l^-\gamma

    Long-distance QCD effects in Bd,s→ℓ+ℓ−γB_{d,s}\to\ell^+\ell^-\gamma decays are analyzed. We show that the contribution of the light vector-meson resonances related to the virtual photon emission from valence quarks of the BB-meson, which was not considered in previous analyses, strongly influences the dilepton differential distrubution. Taking into account photon emission from the bb-quark loop, weak annihilation, and Bremsstrahlung from leptons in the final state, we give predictions for dilepton spectrum in Bd,s→ℓ+ℓ−γB_{d, s}\to \ell^+\ell^-\gamma decays within the Standard model.Comment: 8 pages, typoes corrected, replaced with the version to appear in Physical Review

    Combined influence of beamstrahlung and coupling impedance on beam energy spread and length in future lepton colliders

    A semianalytical model has been developed to study a combined effect of beamstrahlung due to beam-beam interaction and beam coupling impedance in the future lepton colliders CEPC and FCC-ee. This model allows evaluating an impact of the coupling impedance on the bunch length and energy spread in collision. The model is benchmarked against numerical simulations.     Antiferromagnetic ordering and dipolar interactions of YbAlO3_3

    In this paper we report low-temperature magnetic properties of the rare-earth perovskite material YbAlO3_3. Results of elastic and inelastic neutron scattering experiment, magnetization measurements along with the crystalline electrical field (CEF) calculations suggest that the ground state of Yb moments is a strongly anisotropic Kramers doublet, and the moments are confined in the abab-plane, pointing at an angle of φ=±23.5∘\varphi = \pm 23.5^{\circ} to the aa-axis. With temperature decreasing below TN=0.88T_{\rm N}=0.88 K, Yb moments order into the coplanar, but non-collinear antiferromagnetic (AFM) structure AxGyAxGy, where the moments are pointed along their easy-axes. In addition, we highlight the importance of the dipole-dipole interaction, which selects the type of magnetic ordering and may be crucial for understanding magnetic properties of other rare-earth orthorhombic perovskites. Further analysis of the broad diffuse neutron scattering shows that one-dimensional interaction along the cc-axis is dominant, and suggests YbAlO3_3 as a new member of one dimensional quantum magnets.Comment: 8 pages, 6 figure

    Socio-economic status over the life-course and depressive symptoms in men and women in Eastern Europe

    Objective: Research into social inequalities in depression has studied western populations but data from non-western countries are sparse. In this paper, we investigate the extent of social inequalities in depression in Eastern Europe, the relative importance of social position at different points of the life-course, and whether social patterning of depression differs between men and women.Method: A cross-sectional study examined 12,053 men and 13,582 women in Russia, Poland and the Czech Republic. Depressive symptoms (16 or above on the CESD-20) were examined in relation to socio-economic circumstances at three phases of the life-course: childhood (household amenities and father's education); own education; current circumstances (financial difficulties and possession of household items).Results: Pronounced social differences in depression exist in men and women throughout Eastern Europe. Depression was largely influenced by current circumstances rather than by early life or education, with effects stronger in Poland and Russia. Odds ratios in men for current disadvantage were 3.16 [95% CI: 2.57-3.89], 3.16 [2.74-3.64] and 2.17 [1.80-2.63] in Russia, Poland and the Czech Republic respectively. Social variables did not explain the female excess in depression, which varied from 2.91 [2.58-3.27] in Russia to 1.90 [1.74-2.08] in Poland. Men were more affected by adult disadvantage than women, leading to narrower sex differentials in the presence of disadvantage.Limitations: Cross-sectional data with recall of childhood conditions were used.Conclusion: Current social circumstances are the strongest influence on increased depressive symptoms in countries which have recently experienced social changes.     Backgrounds for rare muonic B-meson decays in ATLAS

    The work gives an overview of expected exclusive backgrounds for rare muonic B-meson decays in ATLAS. Based on theoretical calculations and a modelling in Generators, followed by phase space cuts according to fiducial detector volume and trigger acceptance, the authors classify all possible backgrounds according to their importance and select those requiring full detector simulation. The most importat background comes from Bd0→π−μ+νμB_d^0 \to \pi^- \mu^+ \nu_{\mu}, when a charged pion decays in a detector volume producing a secondary muon. Similar mechanism would lead to a background comming from B-mesons decaying to two charged hadrons. Another important background is from B+→μ+μ−l+νB^+ \to \mu^+\mu^-l^+ \nu.This note gives an overview of expected exclusive backgrounds for rare muonic B–meson decays at ATLAS from the theoretical point of view. The goal of this work is to show which of backgrounds are most important for further full detector simulation. It is shown that the most important noncombinatorial background comes from Bd0→π−μ+νμB_d^0 \to \pi^- \mu^+ \nu_{\mu} fake rate. Another important BG sources are B+→μ+μ−ℓ+νℓ,Bc+→J/ψ(μ+μ−)ℓνℓB^+ \to \mu^+\mu^-\ell^+ \nu_{\ell}, B_c^+ \to J/\psi (\mu^+ \mu^-) \ell \nu_{\ell} and two-body hadronic B–meson decays
