Throughput Maximization in Cloud Radio Access Networks using Network Coding

    Get PDF
This paper is interested in maximizing the total throughput of cloud radio access networks (CRANs) in which multiple radio remote heads (RRHs) are connected to a central computing unit known as the cloud. The transmit frame of each RRH consists of multiple radio resources blocks (RRBs), and the cloud is responsible for synchronizing these RRBS and scheduling them to users. Unlike previous works that consider allocating each RRB to only a single user at each time instance, this paper proposes to mix the flows of multiple users in each RRB using instantly decodable network coding (IDNC). The proposed scheme is thus designed to jointly schedule the users to different RRBs, choose the encoded file sent in each of them, and the rate at which each of them is transmitted. Hence, the paper maximizes the throughput which is defined as the number of correctly received bits. To jointly fulfill this objective, we design a graph in which each vertex represents a possible user-RRB association, encoded file, and transmission rate. By appropriately choosing the weights of vertices, the scheduling problem is shown to be equivalent to a maximum weight clique problem over the newly introduced graph. Simulation results illustrate the significant gains of the proposed scheme compared to classical coding and uncoded solutions.Comment: 7 pages, 7 figure

HOW HASAN ROOHANI'S DISCOURSE GOT DOMINANT IN THE ELEVENTH ROUND OF PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION OF IRAN: A CRITICAL DISCOURSE ANALYSIS

    Get PDF
Within the political arena of Iran, parties, media and political activities are passing through initial stages; yet, they get suddenly active during the presidential election campaign. Hence, a proper investigation into the dominant discourses during this time can tell a lot about the politics of the country. The present paper aims at conducting a critical discourse analysis on the antagonistic discourses of Hasan Roohani and Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf to demonstrate how the former one’s discourse gets dominant and wins the election. The headlines of two supporting newspapers, Keyhan, supporting the fundamentalists, and Shargh, advocating the reformists, are analyzed as well to see how they try to back their candidates

TRANSATLANTIC TRADE AND INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIP (TTIP): IMPACT AND CORRELATION ANALYSIS BASED ON TRADE AND INVESTMENT BETWEEN TURKEY AND EU, AND THE USA

The main objective of this study is to ascertain the importance and necessity of Turkey, based on trade and investment, in TTIP agreement as a partner country with both European Union (EU) and the USA. Here, it uses secondary data sources — Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) and Turkish Statistical Institute — from 2001 to 2016. To obtain vibrant findings, the study introduces two statistical analyses: correlation and regression. In addition, it elucidates descriptive analysis for comprehending the general trade and investment scenario. The results derived from correlation suggest that there is a strong positive correlation between Turkey’s total foreign trade and its export to and import from EU and the USA, Turkey’s total FDI and EU’s FDI in Turkey, as well as Turkey’s total FDI and the USA’s FDI in Turkey. In addition, a strong positive correlation has been found between Turkey’s total resident FDI in abroad and Turkey’s FDI in EU and the USA. On the other hand, the regression results indicate that Turkey’s trade and investment with EU and the USA have a significant impact on Turkey’s total foreign trade and investmen

AZERBAIJAN – BANGLADESH: BILATERAL TRADE OPPORTUNITIES AND POTENTIAL EXPORTING SECTOR FOR AZERBAIJAN

Trade is an essential indicator for measuring a country’s economic condition. It is also an effective way of balancing goods and services among countries. No country in the modern world is self-sufficient in goods and services. That is the reason for emerging the economic concept of trade. The primary purpose of the study is to analyse the trade opportunities between Azerbaijan and Bangladesh, as well as to demonstrate the potential resurrection of cotton industry as an important export sector in Azerbaijan. The whole analysis relies on secondary data, such as articles, newspapers, and websites—mainly the International Trade Centre (ITC) and the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The study concludes that there is an opportunity for potential bilateral trade relation between Azerbaijan and Bangladesh based on their export and import items. In addition, the cotton industry has an enormous potentiality to become an important export sector in Azerbaijan

Detection of malicious intent in non-cooperative drone surveillance

In this paper, a Bayesian approach is proposed for the early detection of a drone threatening or anomalous behaviour in a surveyed region. This is in relation to revealing, as early as possible, the drone intent to either leave a geographical area where it is authorised to fly (e.g. to conduct inspection work) or reach a prohibited zone (e.g. runway protection zones at airports or a critical infrastructure site). The inference here is based on the noisy sensory observations of the target state from a non-cooperative surveillance system such as a radar. Data from Aveillant's Gamekeeper radar from a live drone trial is used to illustrate the efficacy of the introduced approach
