    Elastic properties of FeSi

Measurements of the sound velocities in a single crystal of FeSi were performed in the temperature range 4-300 K. Elastic constants C12C_{12} and C44C_{44} deviate from a quasiharmonic behavior at high temperature; whereas, C12C_{12} increases anomalously in the entire range of temperature, indicating a change in the electron structure of this materia

Cdk5 controls lymphatic vessel development and function by phosphorylation of Foxc2.

The lymphatic system maintains tissue fluid balance, and dysfunction of lymphatic vessels and valves causes human lymphedema syndromes. Yet, our knowledge of the molecular mechanisms underlying lymphatic vessel development is still limited. Here, we show that cyclin-dependent kinase 5 (Cdk5) is an essential regulator of lymphatic vessel development. Endothelial-specific Cdk5 knockdown causes congenital lymphatic dysfunction and lymphedema due to defective lymphatic vessel patterning and valve formation. We identify the transcription factor Foxc2 as a key substrate of Cdk5 in the lymphatic vasculature, mechanistically linking Cdk5 to lymphatic development and valve morphogenesis. Collectively, our findings show that Cdk5-Foxc2 interaction represents a critical regulator of lymphatic vessel development and the transcriptional network underlying lymphatic vascular remodeling

Construction of simulation models of lunar observations

© 2018 by IOP Publishing Ltd. The aim of the present paper is to establish optimal parameters for simulation models of the lunar telescope. Modelling of the observations taken from the surface of the Moon is carried out on the basis of dynamic algorithms describing diurnal motion of stars and specifically designed software modules. The first steps in the development of simulation models were made when planning the ILOM (In-Situ Lunar Orientation Measurement) mission which implied the installation of an optical telescope on one of the lunar Poles. The main task of the project was to observe physical libration of the Moon directly from its surface in order to reveal subtle effects related to the characteristics of internal structure of our natural satellite, including the refinement of the Lava elasticity coefficients, tidal dissipation and dissipation at the core-mantle boundary parameters, core's size, ellipticity, and its chemical composition. The results obtained in this work allow for the development of lunar physical libration and dynamics theory in order to apply them in the future lunar observations taken with the automated optical telescope

© 2018 by IOP Publishing Ltd. The present paper focuses on the analysis of modern lunar missions and ground-based projects, such as "Chandrayaan -1", "Chandrayaan -2", "Chang'e 1", "Chang'e 2", "Chang'e 3", "Clementine", "GRAIL", "KAGUYA", "LRO/LCROSS", "LRO", Lunar Laser Ranging, "Lunar Prospector", "SMART-1". The methods and algorithms of constructing a dynamic model of the lunar physical surface as well the results are considered. A particular attention is given to the "LRO" project which was the first step towards implementation of the long-term program on creating manned lunar bases. Essential information on lunar dynamics was provided by observations of the Moon's physical libration, since the study of celestial objects' rotation allows for understanding their complex internal structure, particularly, when there is no opportunity to use other methods

This ability is of particular importance for many plant pathogenic bacteria that should be able to exist, except for their host plants, in different environments e.g. soil, water, insect-vectors etc. Under some of these conditions, bacteria encounter absence of nutrients and persist, acquiring new properties related to resistance to a variety of stress factors (cross-protection). Although many studies describe the phenomenon of cross-protection and several regulatory components that induce the formation of resistant cells were elucidated, the global comparison of the physiology of cross-protected phenotype and growing cells has not been performed. In our study, we took advantage of RNA-Seq technology to gain better insights into the physiology of cross-protected cells on the example of a harmful phytopathogen, Pectobacterium atrosepticum (Pba) that causes crop losses all over the world. The success of this bacterium in plant colonization is related to both its virulence potential and ability to persist effectively under various stress conditions (including nutrient deprivation) retaining the ability to infect plants afterwards. In our previous studies, we showed Pba to be advanced in applying different adaptive strategies that led to manifestation of cell resistance to multiple stress factors. In the present study, we determined the period necessary for the formation of cross-protected Pba phenotype under starvation conditions, and compare the transcriptome profiles of non-adapted growing cells and of adapted cells after the cross-protective effect has reached the maximal level. The obtained data were verified using qRT-PCR. Genes that were expressed differentially (DEGs) in two cell types were classified into functional groups and categories using different approaches. As a result, we portrayed physiological features that distinguish cross-protected phenotype from the growing cells
