    Exclusion of Wormhole and Blackhole Attacks in Manets using Fuzzy Lamport Timestamp Algorithm

    Security for any network is a primary concern as it is necessary to safeguard the resources that are being shared. A mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) enables the mobile devices to form a temporary network without any centralized infrastructure. MANET is vulnerable to several attacks, e.g. wormhole and blackhole attacks. Since there is increase in use of wireless communication, minimizing the intruders in wireless networks has been a high priority task. These attacks affect directly the performance of network. Eliminating such attacks in MANET is a challenging task. In this paper, a novel method that excludes the packets of wormhole and blackhole attacks in a MANET using fuzzy Lamport timestamp algorithm (FLTA) is proposed. The proposed FLTA is used to identify the order of event and to make synchronization of time clock in network device. The Lamport timestamp algorithm incorporates a fuzzy inference system to improve the performance of network. The simulated results of the proposed algorithm are compared with that of LTAWB [13] and SMTWB [12] for wormhole and blackhole attacks. It is observed that the proposed FLTA shows better performance as compared to LTAWB and SMTWB protocols in terms of throughput, end-to-end delay and packet delivery ratio

    Isolation, Identification and Characterization of Keratin degrading microorganisms from Poultry soil and their Feather degradation Potential

    Keratinolytic microorganisms have a great importance in poultry waste degradation and its bioconversion to compost or animal feed. The aim of this study was to isolate keratin degrading bacteria and fungi from poultry farm soil, and to study their ability to degrade chicken feathers. The poultry farm soil samples were added in basal medium with feathers as a source of carbon and nitrogen. Five bacterial cultures were isolated. Bacteria were grown in basal media with feathers meal and showed feather degrading capacity. Bacterial strains were identified as Aeromicrobium spp., Exiguobacter spp., Marinococcus spp. and Bacillus spp. 1 Bacillus spp 2.These bacteria showed keratinolytic enzyme activity in the cell free culture supernatants. The highest biodegradation of feathers was obtained using Aeromicrobium (KD1-72.55%), among the isolated cultures. Two fungal cultures (F1 and F2) were also isolated by Hair Bait Technique, out of which F1 showed good keratinolytic activity. The good ability of selected microorganisms to degrade feathers can be utilized for their potential biotechnological application in processing of feather waste from poultry industry

    Sinteza i anthelmintičko djelovanje novih 2-supstituiranih-4,5-difenil imidazola

    A series of 2-substituted-4,5-diphenyl imidazoles 1a-j were synthesized by refluxing benzil with different substituted aldehydes in the presence of ammonium acetate and glacial acetic acid. Structures of the synthesized compounds were confirmed on the basis of IR, 1H NMR and mass spectral data. Compounds 1a-j were screened for anthelmintic activity. Test results revealed that compounds showed paralysis time of 0.24 to 1.54 s and death time of 0.39 to 4.40 s while the standard drugs albendazole and piperazine citrate showed paralysis time of 0.54 and 0.58 s and death time of 2.16 and 2.47 s, respectively, at the same concentration of 1 % (m/V). Five compounds, 2-[2-hydroxyphenyl]-4,5-diphenyl imidazole (1b), 2-[3-methoxyphenyl]-4,5-diphenyl imidazole (1c), 2-[2-phenylethenyl]-4,5-diphenyl imidazole (1e), 2-[4-fluorophenyl]-4,5-diphenyl imidazole (1g) and 2-[3-nitrophenyl]-4,5-diphenyl imidazole (1h) showed significant anthelmintic activity compared to the standard drugs.Refluksiranjem benzila s različitim supstituiranim aldehidima u prisutnosti amonijeva acetata i ledene octene kiseline sintetizirana je serija 2-supstituiranih-4,5-difenil imidazola (1a-j). Strukture sintetiziranih spojeva potvrđene su IR, 1H NMR i masenom spektroskopijom. U testovima na anthelmintičko djelovanje određeno je vrijeme paralize 0,24 do 1,54 min i vrijeme smrti 0,39 do 4,40 min, dok standarni lijekovi albendazol i piperazin citrat imaju vrijeme paralize 0,54 i 0,58 min, a vrijeme smrti 2,16, odnosno 2,47 min pri istim koncentracijama (1 % m/V).     In vitro studies of antistress and antiallergic effects of semecarpus anacardium fruit in asthma

    Semicarpus anacardium Linn. (Anacardiaceae) is a deciduous moderate sized tree. The plant is commonly known as Ballataka (Sanskrit), Bhela (Hindi) and marking nut in English. Fruits are acrid and sweet and used traditionally in the treatment of asthma. Allergy and stress are important contributing factors in asthma; hence, our objective was to study the effect of plant extracts on milk-induced leucocytosis (antistress) and milk-induced eosinophilia (antiallergic) as no work is done in this direction and to check a possible antiasthmatic role of the plant. Extracts were given at the dose of 50 and 100 mg/kg, p.o., to mice. Ethyl acetate and ethanol extracts showed significant decrease in leukocytes and eosinophils count. These results confirm the use of S. anacardium fruits as antistress and antiallergic agents in the treatment asthma.Colegio de Farmacéuticos de la Provincia de Buenos Aire

    Ferromanganese oxides from Mid-Indian Ridge, seamounts and abyssal plains from the Indian Ocean

    11-15Mineralogical and chemical investigations show that todorokite is the only Mn mineral in the Mid-Indian Ridge ferromanganese, coatings, delta δ MnO2 in the seamount crusts, and well crystallised todorokite and minor amounts of delta δ MnO2 in the abyssal nodules. Enrichment of Mn, Cu, Ni and Mn/Fe ratio is in the sequence, abyssal nodules > seamount crusts > Mid-Indian Ridge samples. Fe is highest in the Mid-Indian Ridge samples followed by seamount crusts and abyssal nodules. Co is enriched (up to 0.47 %) in the seamount crusts. The ferromanganese oxides from the Mid-Indian Ridge, seamount crusts and abyssal nodules appear to be of hydrothermal, hydrogenous and early-diagenetic in origin respectively
