Gradual Internal Reforming of Ethanol in Solid Oxide Fuel cells

AbstractElectrolyte (yttria-stabilised zirconia, YSZ) supported solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) were fabricated using spin coating of standard LSM cathode and Ni-YSZ cermet anode. A ceria-based catalytic layer was deposited onto the anode with a special current collector design. Such a single cell configuration allows operation by gradual internal reforming of direct carbon-containing fuels. First, the fabricated single cells were operated with hydrogen to determine the optimised conditions of fuel concentration and flow rate regarding faradaïc efficiency. Then, the fuel was switched to dry ethanol and the cells were operated for several hours (100h) with good stability. Post-operation electron microcopy analyses revealed no carbon formation in the anode layer. The results indicate that the gradual internal reforming mechanism is effective, opening up the way to multi-fuel SOFCs, provided that a suitable catalyst layer and cell design are available

Study of the electron trigger efficiency of the CMS Experiment using test beam data

A study of the electron identification and selection efficiency of the L1 Trigger algorithm has been performed using the combined ECAL/HCAL test beam data. A detailed discussion of the electron isolation and its impact on the selection efficiency is presented. The L1 electron algorithm is studied for different beam energies and the results indicate that efficiencies of 98% or more can be achieved for electrons with energies between 15 and 100 GeV. The fraction of charged hadrons with energies from 3 up to 100 GeV rejected by the L1 electron trigger algorithm is estimated to be larger than 93%.Comment: 22 pages, 14 figure

Customer service orientation on adhesion contracts

Hiring a service is a moment of great importance once it builds the perception of the service value and quality. Some companies may deal with that, assuming a greater importance when elaborating their service contracts. Usually law professional people elaborate these documents, but this may include legal attributes, not considering the service to the customers, as well as the customers’ point of view. In times of increasing on customer focus, market and service orientation, a question can be posted: to what extent company contracts show service or customer orientation? This paper compares the service orientation degree for Cable TV contracts from five companies, based on a theoretical model developed to this purpose. From a conceptual model for servant contract, four dimensions were assessed: physical aspects, reasonableness, intelligibility and customer focus. After subject evaluation by eight judges, analyzing the validation index (CVI), it was found that the contracts show moderate orientation to serve. Furthermore, results show that the five surveyed company’s contracts showed a similar overall performance, i.e., none stood out over the other. The study presents important practical efficacy, because it can guide the Cable TV companies to adopt improvement strategies in elaboration of contracts, so that the contractual instruments be would reviewed of clauses that promote the sensation of better service to their customer. Thus, this article directs the manager to the aspect that deserves more attention, i.e, which dimensions require further refinement and direction to serv

A study of street lighting energy efficiency was carried out in S. M. Tucumán City, based on the application of astronomical clocks, electronic ballasts (control gear) for high pressure sodium 150W/100W lamps and high efficiency luminaires. During 45 days, 273 luminaires connected to 6 independent electric networks were monitored recording: energy consumption, switching on/off times, night lamps outages, day on lamps and electrical quality parameters. The results indicate that it is possible a significant reduction in consumption, between 11% and 43% while improving service quality and reducing the harmonic content being introduced to the network lighting by TDH A ≤ 6.5%. The paper describes the experience and the analysis of the results.Fil: Tapia Garzón J.. Universidad Nacional de Tucumán. Facultad de Ciencias Exactas y Tecnología.
