    Model Prediction-Based Approach to Fault Tolerant Control with Applications

    Abstract— Fault-tolerant control (FTC) is an integral component in industrial processes as it enables the system to continue robust operation under some conditions. In this paper, an FTC scheme is proposed for interconnected systems within an integrated design framework to yield a timely monitoring and detection of fault and reconfiguring the controller according to those faults. The unscented Kalman filter (UKF)-based fault detection and diagnosis system is initially run on the main plant and parameter estimation is being done for the local faults. This critical information\ud is shared through information fusion to the main system where the whole system is being decentralized using the overlapping decomposition technique. Using this parameter estimates of decentralized subsystems, a model predictive control (MPC) adjusts its parameters according to the\ud fault scenarios thereby striving to maintain the stability of the system. Experimental results on interconnected continuous time stirred tank reactors (CSTR) with recycle and quadruple tank system indicate that the proposed method is capable to correctly identify various faults, and then controlling the system under some conditions

    In recent years, a compelling need has arisen to understand the effects of distributed information structures on estimation and filtering. In this paper, a bibliographical review on distributed Kalman filtering (DKF) is provided.\ud The paper contains a classification of different approaches and methods involved to DKF. The applications of DKF are also discussed and explained separately. A comparison of different approaches is briefly carried out. Focuses on the contemporary research are also addressed with emphasis on the practical applications of the techniques. An exhaustive list of publications, linked directly or indirectly to DKF in the open literature, is compiled to provide an overall picture of different developing aspects of this area

    Improved Distributed Estimation Method for Environmental\ud time-variant Physical variables in Static Sensor Networks

    In this paper, an improved distributed estimation scheme for static sensor networks is developed. The scheme is developed for environmental time-variant physical variables. The main contribution of this work is that the algorithm in [1]-[3] has been extended, and a filter has been designed with weights, such that the variance of the estimation errors is minimized, thereby improving the filter design considerably\ud and characterizing the performance limit of the filter, and thereby tracking a time-varying signal. Moreover, certain parameter optimization is alleviated with the application of a particular finite impulse response (FIR) filter. Simulation results are showing the effectiveness of the developed estimation algorithm

    Kota merupakan suatu wilayah padat penduduk. Padatnya wilayah perkotaan membuat banyaknya permasalahan yakni kebutuhan akan udara yang bersih. Permasalahan tersebut dapat teratasi dengan banyaknya Ruang Terbuka Hijau dalam kota. Kota Malang merupakan kota yang padat penduduknya tentu membutuhkan banyak RTH. RTH telah diatur dalam Pasal 16 Peraturan Daerah Nomor 4 Tahun 2011 tentang Rencana Tata Ruang Wilayah Kota Malang. Seharusnya RTH di dalam kota luasnya minimal 30% dari luas keseluruhan kota. Saat ini Kota Malang hanya mempunyai 19,25% RTH. Jika aturan, penegak hukum, dan masyarakat tidak seimbang maka peraturan menjadi tidak efektif. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efektfitas Pasal 16, mendeskripsikan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi efektifitas Pasal 16, dan langkah apa saja yang dilakuka untuk membuat Pasal 16 menjadi efektifif. Jenis penelitian yang dilakukan menggunakan yuridis empiris. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan yuridis sosiologis.Kata kunci : Efektifitas, Ruang Terbuka Hijau, Peraturan Daerah Nomor 4 Tahun 2011 Kota Malang

Artwork meant by the writer is "Be Yourself", which is related to the establishment of his self-characters that grown up in Sundanese culture. Life journey was a dynamic process and became the will of the Almighty. God's destiny and life journey made the writer as “urangsumando” (people related by marriage) in Minangkabau. Cross-cultural was a life journey to be (yourself) and the destiny he should do – being in two different culture positions. Such differences did not automatically make the writer soluble in integration – he existed in two conceptions. In the realization, how the concepts are able to deliver other offers which have contribution to the development of artistic creation.     Dichromacy: Color Vision Impairment and Consanguinity in Heterogenous Population of Pakistan

    Background and Objectives: Dichromacy, an X-linked recessive disorder is identified worldwide, more in males than females. In European Caucasians, its incidence is 8% in males and 0.5% in females. In India, it is 8.73% in males and 1.69% in females, and in Iran, it is 8.18% in males and 0.43% in females. Population based epidemiological data about dichromacy in different ethnic groups in Pakistan is not available. The aim of this study was to find out the population prevalence of inherited red-green dichromacy in a heterogenous population of the district of Chiniot, Punjab, Pakistan, and to determine the impact of consanguinity and ethnicity. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, boys and girls of the higher secondary schools were examined in the three tehsils of district Chiniot. Pseudoisochromatic Ishihara Test has been employed for detection of dichromacy in the study population. The sample size was calculated statistically as 260, which was expanded to 705 and divided by population density of the three tehsils. Results: Screening of 359 males and 346 females revealed 19 (5.29%) dichromat males and only 2 (0.58%) females. The study population belonged to 23 castes / isonym groups. The consanguinity found in the district of Chiniot is 84.82% and in the dichromat families, it is 85.71%, of which 52.37% are first cousin.     . Steel pipes are found at almost industrial structures, especially in refinery plant. More and more often, steel pipes have to be designed to operate at higher temperature. Design temperature until 8000C which we find at refinery plant is not uncommon. This paper deals with particular case of pillar of steel pipe which is simply supported and operates at elevated and distributed temperature until 8000C. When the design of temperature is very high, it becomes increasingly difficult to meet the current design criterion. Initial imperfection like residual stress and out-of-straightness is covered in this simulation. In this simulation, initial imperfect column condition such as residual stress, out-of-straightness are considerated as well. Stability becomes to be an important consideration. Numerical method based on finite element is used to simulate this case. The result of the analysis shows that the stability of steel pipe indicated by first yield temperature and collapse temperature are determined especially by dimension of steel pipe, out-of-straightness, residual stress, as well as thermal load distribution. The minimum antibuckle axial force increases with the thermal load, but the opposite condition for the maximum antibuckle axial force
