It is found that there is a positive attitude from the part of library professionals towards the acceptance of Open Source softwares.The study also underscores the necessity of orientation Programmes for making Professionals more familiar for adoption of Open Source software in libraries

    Voronoi diagram based simulation and experimental validation of austenite in C22 and C35 steels

    This paper examines the ability of power Voronoi diagram assisted simulation in microstructure modeling during heat treatment. A model is developed for predicting fraction of austenite evolved during continuous heating of steel to austenite range, by integrating geometrical features of power Voronoi diagram and classical nucleation theory. From the simulation results, it is possible to predict the transformed fraction. The simulation results are validated using experiments conducted on two varieties of steels. The maximum error obtained is 2.08%. Thus, power Voronoi assisted simulation can be considered as an effective tool in modeling microstructure evolution during austenitization

    Functional outcome after open reduction and internal fixation for traumatic diastasis of the pubic symphysis a one year follow-up study

    Background: Pubic diastasis often results in anteroposterior compression (APC) injuries based on Young and Burgess classification. It is caused due to high-energy trauma and of much clinical importance is given when coexists with urogenital and neurological complications with hemodynamic instability. Open reduction and internal fixation with plating facilitates early mobilisation with better results and is the preferable mode of stabilisation. We evaluated the clinical and functional outcome of such patients in a one-year follow-up period.Methods: In our study, we included 20 patients with APC II injuries who underwent an open reduction by single or dual plating technique by the Pfannenstiel approach, were followed for one year.Results: Among 20 patients, 14 patients (70%) were operated with single superior plating, six patients (30%) were performed with dual plating, i.e., both superior and anterior plating. Among 20 patients, two patients (10%) were operated for primary arthrodesis with double plating. Only one among 20 (5%) had implant failure due to early weight bearing and were re-operated with primary arthrodesis with plating. Results were analysed based on a scoring system which includes five criteria such as anterior pelvic pain, dyspareunia and sexual dysfunction, ability to sit, gait abnormalities and walking distance. Among 20 patients ten patients (50%) had excellent results, six patients (30%) had good results, two patients (10%) had fair results, two patients (10%) had poor results.Conclusions: Open reduction and internal fixation of traumatic pubic diastasis in type II APC injuries with single or dual plating had given better results and early functional recovery

    The High Density Electronics Center (HiDEC) at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville is developing the technology for High Temperature Superconductor Multi-Chip Modules (HTSC-MCM\u27s). As part of this work, we are looking at the mechanical properties of HTSC materials. An important mechanical property which influences the mechanical integrity of the hybrid MCMis the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) of the HTSC films. As a first step in developing a procedure for the determination of the CTE of HTSC materials, the lattice parameters and the CTE of an alpha-alumina substrate have been determined by powder x-ray diffraction technique. An extension of this technique applicable to HTSC materials is presented

    Visual comparison of clustering using link-based clustering method (Lbcm) without predetermining initial centroid information

    High dimensional data are difficult to view in two-dimensional plot. However, having a mechanism to reduce to a selected number of salient features that can well present the data is essential. We attempted to reduce N dimensional data to two-dimensional data using the combination of Information Gain (IG) and Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and to perform the link-based clustering which is our novel technique presented in this work in determining the linked clusters automatically using visual approach. Link-based Clustering Method (LbCM) is applied on the two-dimensional data to determine the clusters automatically. The significance of the method is that it does not require prior information such as the number of linked clusters. The approach using a combination of IG-PCA for feature selection is also useful to deal with high dimensional data. The LbCM is able to detect the number of linked clusters automatically by analyzing the X-Y coordinate positions of the points and visual information such as gaps between points and of two extreme points for both axes. Since the number of clusters is represented visually in two dimensions, LbCM performance can be compared visually

    IDENTIFICATION OF LEAD COMPOUNDS WITH COBRA VENOM DETOXIFICATION ACTIVITY IN ANDROGRAPHIS PANICULATA (BURM. F.) NEES THROUGH IN SILICO METHOD

    Objective: To validate the cobra venom detoxification activity in Andrographis paniculata and identification of lead molecules.Methods: The structures of phytochemicals were procured from databases or created by ChemSketch and CORINA. Of the14 cobra venom proteins selected as receptor molecules, the 3D structures of phospholipase A2 and cobrotoxin were retrieved from protein data bank and serine protease, L-amino acid oxidase and acetylcholinesterase were modelled. The structures of remaining nine proteins were retrieved from SWISSMODEL repository. The active sites of the receptor molecules were detected by Q-site Finder and Pocket Finder. Docking was carried out by AutoDock 4.2. To avoid error in lead identification, top ranked five hit molecules obtained in AutoDock were again docked by iGEMDOCK, FireDock and HEX server. The results were analyzed following Dempster-Shafer theory. The molecular property and biological activity of the lead molecules were predicted by molinspiration.Results: Docking results in AutoDock revealed that the plant having phytochemicals for detoxifying all venom proteins but only one potential hit molecule against each of the following proteins viz., cobramin A, cobramin B, long neurotoxin 1, long neurotoxin 2, long neurotoxin 3, long neurotoxin 4 and long neurotoxin 5 and several hit molecules (6-12) were obtained against phospholipase A2, cobrotoxin, cytotoxin 3, acetylcholinesterase, L-aminoacid oxidase, proteolase and serine protease. Therefore, in latter case lead molecules were identified through Dempster-Shafer theory. The theoretical prediction of drug likeliness and bioactivity of the molecules highlighted the plant as the best source of anti-cobra venom drug.Conclusion: The results substantiated its traditional use and further investigation on biological system is essential for evolving novel drug.Keywords: Andrographis paniculata, Cobra, Docking, Venom, Protein, Neurotoxin, Snake bit

    A Pattern Based Approach to Defining the Dynamic Infrastructure of UML 2.0

    The 2U Consortium has recently submitted a proposal for the definition of the UML 2.0 infrastructure. This uses an innovative technique of rapidly “stamping out” the definition using a small number of patterns commonly found in software architecture. The patterns, their instantiation, and any further language details are described using precise class diagrams and OCL, this enables the definition to be easily understood. The main focus of the 2U approach is on the static part of the definition. A further concern when modelling software, using languages such as the UML, is describing the dynamic behaviour of the system over time. The contribution of this paper is to provide a template that can be used to “stamp out” the dynamic part of the UML 2.0 infrastructure. We argue for the suitability of the dynamic template because it makes little commitment to concrete abstractions and can, therefore, be used to support a broad spectrum of behavioural languages
