    The Mediating Role of Operations Management Practices on the Relationship Between the Dimensions of Manufacturing Flexibility and Competitiveness

    Purpose: The aim of this study is to examine knowing the real role and impact of manufacturing flexibility on competitiveness through operations management practices, which is to determine the role and impact of manufacturing flexibility on competitiveness directly in the General Company for the Battery Industry. On the other hand, identifying the indirect role of flexible manufacturing systems in enhancing competitiveness.   Theoretical framework: The main purpose of the theoretical framework is to identify all the dimensions and variables included in the current study, and thus form a deep scientific view of the study and its variables.   Design/methodology/approach: field coexistence, personal interviews, and classification of data and information obtained in the questionnaire were adopted as the main tool used in the research and for a sample of 74 observations. Structural equations modelling was used to analyze the data using the programs (SPSS24, AMOS23).   Findings: the research reached important results that represent The most prominent of these is the significant impact of manufacturing flexibility in enhancing the competitiveness of the battery manufacturing company, and this effect is reinforced by improving operations management practices by the company.   Research, Practical & Social implications: The research was conducted in this company because it requires scientific research capable of solving many of its problems as a result of increased competition in the market, as well as the continuation of this company in production despite the cessation of many other companies as a result of.   Value: It stems from a vital issue related to aimed at a better future in terms of Operations Management Practices, Flexibility of Manufacturing, Operations Management Practices, and Competitiveness, especially after the crisis that led to a significant decline in the level of performance of organizations

    Extreme heterogeneity in oil saturation between closely adjacent sandstone beds reflects different timing and degree of diagenesis. Understanding the distribution and origin of such heterogeneity is critical to effectively exploiting intercalated sandstone deposits within fine-grained unconventional reservoirs and in unraveling subtleties of stratigraphic traps. Sea cliff exposures at Point Fermin, California, expose a submarine channel facies within the largely hemipelagic facies. Separated by only meters, Point Fermin Sandstone is oil-saturated, whereas Altamira Shale sandstone is not. Samples were analyzed for porosity, permeability and fluid saturation in conjunction with thinsection petrographic analysis. Sandstones are primarily schist- bearing lithic arenites and the grains are cemented mostly by rhombic dolomite. Data show that both units have the same provenance but differ in the timing and type of diagenesis with shale-hosted sandstones generally showing earlier cementation. The degree and type of cementation occluded pore spaces to prevent hydrocarbon charging in the non-saturated sandstone

Over the decades, multiple therapies and drugs have been developed to control T2D, but they are far from a long-term solution. Stem cells are promising as novel regenerative treatments, especially mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), which are highly versatile in their regenerative and paracrine capabilities and characteristics. This makes them the most commonly used adult stem cells and ideal candidates to treat diabetes.Objective: To assess the safety and efficacy of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) in treating Type 2 diabetes (T2D) in humans.Methods: Mesenchymal stem cell-based treatments were studied in 262 patients. A total of 6 out of 58 trials fit our inclusion criteria in the last five years.Results: The treatment of patients with MSCs reduced the dosage of anti-diabetic drugs analyzed over a follow-up period of 12 months. The effective therapy dosage ranged from 1× 106 cells/kg to 3.7× 106 cells/kg. After treatment, HbAc1 levels were reduced by an average of 32%, and the fasting blood glucose levels were reduced to an average of 45%. The C-peptide levels were decreased by an average of 38% in 2 trials and increased by 36% in 4 trials. No severe adverse events were noted in all trials.Conclusion: This analysis concludes that MSC treatment of type 2 diabetes is safe and effective. A larger sample size is required, and the trials should also study the effect of differentiated MSCs as insulin-producing cells.Keywords: stem cell, regenerative medicine, diabetes, mesenchymal stem cell

    Background: Published health promoting or health risk behaviors data in a young population is sparse for Saudi Arabia. Identifying health risk factors early in life and promoting primary prevention interventions among the youth is of utmost importance to move in a healthier direction Objectives: The aim of this study is to identify the socio-economic factors influencing BMI in female students in University of Hail. Methodology: A cross sectional survey was carried out to evaluate dietary behaviors in a random sample of 200 adolescent students, from UOH female campus during the winter semester. Self administered questionnaire for dietary behaviors was used for survey by following anonymity and privacy. Results: This study was conducted to measure BMI and determine the socioeconomic factors affecting the relative weight of young adult females living in the city of Ha’il, Saudi Arabia. A total of 200 female subjects (mean ± SD: age: 19.76 ± 1.98 years and BMI: 23.47 ± 5.58 kg/m2) participated in the present survey. 28.5 % percent of study sample were either overweight or obese. Age wise distribution indicates overweight and obesity significantly increases with age. Breakfast is frequently skipped in overweight and obese subjects while frequency of snacking less among them. Findings of the current study also suggest habit of frequent snacking behavior inverse association with BMI.     Hepaticojejunostomy for the management of sump syndrome arising from choledochoduodenostomy in a patient who underwent bariatric Roux-en-Y gastric bypass: A case report

    Introduction: Rapid weight loss following bariatric surgery is associated with high incidence of gallstones and complications that may need bilioenteric diversion. This presents a specific challenge in the management of this group of patients. Case presentation: A 37 years old female underwent a Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) in 2008 for morbid obesity. In 2009 she presented with obstructive jaundice and was diagnosed with choledocholithiasis successfully managed by open cholecystectomy and choledochoduodenostomy. In the following years, she developed recurrent attacks of fever, chills, jaundice, and right upper quadrant pain and her weight loss was not satisfactory. Imaging of the liver showed multiple cholangitic abscesses. Reflux at the choledochoduodenostomy site was suggestive of sump syndrome as a cause of her recurrent cholangitis and a definitive surgical treatment was indicated. Intraoperative findings confirmed sump at the choledochoduodenostomy site and also revealed the presence of a large superficial accessory duct arising from segment four of the liver with separate drainage into the duodenum distal to the choledochoduodenostomy site. A formal hepaticojejunostomy was done after ductoplasty. The Roux limb was created by transecting the jejunum 40 cm distal to the foot anastomosis of the RYGB. The gastric limb was lengthened as part of this procedure which afforded the patient the additional benefit of weight loss. Conclusion: Choledochoduodenostomy should be avoided in patients with RYGB due to the risk of sump syndrome which requires conversion to a formal hepaticojejunostomy

    A normative study of the raven coloured progressive matrices test for omani hildren aged 5-11 years*

    Raven’s Coloured Progressive Matrices test has been extensively used across a wide variety of settings in different countries all over the world as a fair culture measure of non-verbal intelligence. The objective of the present study is to extract norms of the test for Omani children. The test was applied on an individual basis on a random sample of 1042 children from different age groups ranging from 5 to 11 years old. All of the estimated psychometric properties including validity, reliability, and norms indicate that the test could be practically utilized when applied in several situations. The study has a number of implications including that the Ministry of Education may use it to diagnose and detect those children with learning difficulties; the Ministry of Health may use it in hospitals to measure the IQ of certain patients in order to make medical decisions. In addition, researchers in psychological and social areas would be able to conduct studies aiming at measuring the intelligence of children
