    The study on the growth response of mungbean Walet variety inoculated by Rhizobium and VA-Mycormiza inoculant carried out done at UPT-BBOK-UPI, Bergen, Lampung, using Competely Randomized Block Design. Five treatments by using Rhizobium, 5 treatments by using mixed Rhizobium and Myco.rrhiza, 1 treatment by using Mycorrhiza. The plant, without inoculated and without fertilized, the plants without inoculated but fertilized by using urea, the plants without inoculated but fertilized by using TSP, and the plants without inoculated but fertilized by using urea and TSP as control. Each treatment has 3 replications. The height and the weight of the plants, the weight of nodules had been weighted after 30 days planting. The result of the research showed that the plants by giving inoculant better growth compare to the plants without inoculated and fertilized. The weight of plants and root is compered which the plants by giving Rhizobium and Mycorrhiza to the plants without inoculated and fertilized was not significant. However, in the height and the wight of nodules of some treatments were significant to the control

    Di antara tumbuhan air yang biasa terdapat di sawah, Azolla (yang dalam bahasa daerah disebut lukut cai, kiapu, bang apu atau kiambang) merupakan salah satu tumbuhan yang mempunyai keistimewaan tersendiri karena kemampuannya dalam menambat nitrogen. Dalam keadaan yang optimal tumbuhan paku air ini dapat menambat nitrogen sebesar 7,2 mg N/g berat kering/hari (Brotonegoro & Abdulkadir 1976). Kemampuan ini dapat menerangkan mengapa Azolla dapat tumbuh dan memperbanyak did pada perairan yang kurang subur. Di samping mampu menambat nitrogen, Azolla dapat terurai dengan melepaskan senyawa N dalam tanah yang lembab atau tergenang (Brotonegorp & Abdulkadir 1978). Senyawa N yang dilepaskan tadi dapat diserap oleh tanaman padi atau tanaman lainnya, sehingga Azolla telah dipakai sebagai pupuk hijau di Vietnam dan Muangthai (Saubert 1949; Moore 1969). Untuk itu diperlukan Azolla dalam jumlah yang besar, sebab tumbuhan ini mengandung air sekitar + 95% berat basahnya dan kandungan N- totalnya sekitar ±3-5% berat keringnya.Keperluan yang besar itu mungkin dapat terpenuhi jika keadaan pertumbuhannya di sawah, parit dan danau sebaik beberapa tahun yang silam. Di Jawa khususnya, sejak beberapa tahun terakhir ini populasi Azolla menurun sangat menyolok. Sekarang untuk mendapatkan populasi Azolla yang melimpah dan terhampar menyerupai permadani sukar sekali

    YUN INDIARTO, MULYADI & RAZALI YUSUF, 1989.The structure and composition of mangrove in Bikoen-Kupang,Timor.Berita Biologi 3(9): 455 - 457.Mangrove forests in EastNusa Tenggara cover a total areas of about 1930 ha(Darsidi, 1984). Little is known about the mangrove forest in that island, especially in Bikoen, Kupang Region.Therefore, the study has been conducted at the mangrove forest of Menipo Nature Reserve in order to analyse the structure and composition of the species.Four transects perpendicular to the coast line were used for data collection.At least, there were 12 mangrove species found in the forest, dominated by Ceriops tagal, Rhizophora stylosa and Bruguiera exaristata. Seedlings dominated the forest by 49,92%, where as the sapling were 45.43%

    On Measuring the Criticality of Various Variables and Processes in Organization Information Systems: Proposed Methodological Procedure

    This paper proposes methodological procedures to be used by the accounting, organizational and managerial researchers and executives to ascertain the criticality of the variables and the processes in the measurement of management control system. We have restricted the validation of proposed methods to the extraction of critical success factors (CSF) in this study. We have also provided a numerical illustration and tested our methodological procedures using a dataset of an empirical study conducted for the purpose of ascertaining the CSFs. The proposed methods can be used by the researchers in accounting, organizational information systems, economics, and business and also in other relevant disciplines of organizational sciences. The main contribution of this paper is the extension of Rockart’s work [33] on critical success factors. We have extended the theory of CSF beyond the initially suggested domain of information into management control system decision making. The methodological procedures developed by us are expected to enrich the literature of analytical and empirical studies in accounting and organizational areas where it can prove helpful in understanding the criticality of individual variables, processes, methods or success factors.Success Factors, Criticality Analysis, Perceptual Criticality, Critical Success Factors

    Effects of petroleum ether, ethanol and aqueous extracts of indigofera capitata on oedema induced activity of naja nigricollis venom in envenomed rats

    The growing demand for herbal products has led to high increase of plant material traded across the world. Indigofera species provide some of these plants’ materials. Indigofera capitata is a plant of the family Fabaceae. The acute toxicity and effects pet.ether, ethanol and aqueous extracts of the plant were carried out in albino rats. The results of acute toxicity studied revealed that pet.ether, ethanol and aqueous extracts had LD50 values of 774.6, 1131.4 and 3807.8mg/kg respectively. These helped to determine the safeness and dosage used for in vivo activity of each extract. The results of the effects of the extracts indicated all the plant extracts had significant (p<0.05) and dose-dependent Oedema forming activity against LD99 Naja nigricollis envenomed rats. Highest reduction in edema forming activity of the extract are shown at dose of 300mg/kg(ethanol) and 1000mg/kg (aqueous) with lowest edema forming activity of 108.00±1.90 and 102.00±1.90 (% mm) respectively compared with the positive control group. The finding revealed that the plant can be used for treatment of snake bite more especially Naja nigricollis bite

    Distribution pattern of some heavy metals in the dust particulates of Funtua Textile Limited, Katsina, Nigeria

    The sequential extraction of Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, and Pb in industrial dust particulates collected in ten different sections/Departments of Funtua textile limited and the control site from Dikke village was carried out in order to ascertain the percentage of bioavailable fractions. Analyses of metals in the extracts were done using Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (FAAS). The sequential extractions showed that significant amount of Cu25.87(O1) to 92.73% (E1) was associated with non-residual and 0.09 (E1) to 56.94% (O2) organic bound fractions; similarly, Cd was also associated with the non- residual fractions across the sites with values 42.22(W2) to 97.78% (E2). Cr and Ni exhibited the highest percentage of 73.46(W1) to 100.00 % (W2) and 23.64 (E2) to 77.26 % (S1), respectively. Pb in the particulate dust samples was significantly associated with the non-residual fraction and carbonate bound fraction with range of 21.71(D)–61.68(S2) % across the sites. This study revealed contamination of the particulates dust especially with Cu, Cr and Pb; this implies health risks to human, living or carrying out daily activities along the corridors of this industry.Keywords: Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry, Funtua textile, Heavy metals, Particulates dust, Sequential extractio

    An excel template for processing examination results for higher institutions in Nigeria

    In this work, we designed, developed and implemented an examination result processing template for all the Postgraduate programmes in the Faculty of Science, Kaduna State University, Kaduna. The designed template when fed in with data computes and grades students appropriately. Its design was done using the “IF” and “OR” logical functions.     Modelling and Optimization of the Compressive Strength of High Volume Fly Ash ECC with Low Modulus PVA Fiber Using Response Surface Methodology (RSM)

    Engineered cementitious composite (ECC) also known as bendable concrete is popular for its high ductility behavior under tensile load. However, to achieve this amazing characteristic, the compressive strength is usually compromised due to the high volume fly ash (HVFA) effect of reducing the composite’s toughness. This research is aimed at developing a response surface model and optimization of the two major ingredients (fly ash and PVA fiber) with the view to developing a composite with the desirable compressive strength for structural application. Results indicated that although the FA affects the compressive strength development negatively, the presence of PVA fiber especially at 1 to 1.5% volume fraction enhances the compressive strength. A quadratic response surface model was developed and was analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and found to have a R2 value of 96.82%. The model validation showed a very good agreement between the predicted and the experimental results with less tha 5% error margin
