Les géographes et les idéologies territoriales au Canada : deux projets nationaux contradictoires

Les débats au sein de la géographie canadienne, notamment ceux touchant la question constitutionnelle, ont mis en évidence deux définitions contradictoires de l'architecture territoriale du Canada. Dans ce contexte, la question du Québec apparaît comme le révélateur des idéologies territoriales sous-jacentes au discours géographique. Deux modèles s'affrontent. « L'idée d'État » fait de l'intégration territoriale et politique l'assise de la modernité alors que la défense du projet national québécois appelle une nouvelle distribution du pouvoir et un compartimentage intra-étatique accru.Debates within the Canadian geographers' community, in particular concerning the constitutional crisis, revolve around two contradictory definitions of Canada's territorial architecture. In that context, the « Québec question » contributes to the emergence of the territorial ideologies that underlie the geographical discourse. Two models are confronted. The « Concept of State » recognizes that territorial and political integration represents the very foundations of modernity ; while the Québec national goal implies a new distribution of power and a greater intra-state fragmentation

Essai de recontextualisation de la photographie

Pour créer de nouvelles oeuvres, je me suis attardé dans un premier temps à la pré-photographie puis à la genèse de représentation d'une prétendue objectivité de perspective. La caméra obscura, instrument de décalque et de perspective, m?a permis un retour aux fondements mêmes de la photographie. Ce retour m'a donné l'occasion d'apprivoiser les a priori de cette forme d'apparaître, puis de proposer une façon autre de voir / faire fa photographie. L'expérience de recontextualisation au sens de nouvelle organisation ou composition de l'oeuvre s'est alors imposée dans ma pratique

Usefulness of NT-pro BNP monitoring to identify echocardiographic responders following cardiac resynchronization therapy

<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) improves left ventricular (LV) volumes, mitral regurgitation (MR) severity and symptoms of patients with heart failure (HF). However, ≥ 30% of patients have no significant clinical or echocardiographic improvement following CRT. Reverse remodeling after CRT correlates with improved clinical outcomes. We hypothesized that in NT-pro BNP monitoring is accurate to identify responders following CRT.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>42 consecutive patients (mean age 66 ± 12 years, male 68%) with HF undergoing CRT were prospectively enrolled. Responders at follow-up were defined by echocardiography (decrease in LV end systolic volume ≥ 15%). Echocardiography and NT-pro BNP measurement were performed at baseline and repeated 3 to 6 month after CRT.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>There was no significant difference between responders (n = 29, 69%) and non-responders (n = 13, 31%) regarding baseline NT-pro BNP level. Responders had significantly higher decrease in NT-pro BNP levels during follow-up than non-responders (absolute: -1428 ± 1333 pg.ml^-1vs. -61 ± 959 pg.ml^-1, p = 0.002; relative: -45 ± 28% vs. 2 ± 28%, p < 0.0001). A decrease of ≥ 15% in NT-pro BNP 3–6 months after CRT identifies echocardiographic responders with a sensitivity of 90% and a specificity of 77%.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>NT-pro BNP monitoring can accurately identify echocardiographic responders after CRT.</p
