Metaverso y educación: el caso pionero de Minecraft en el aprendizaje inmersivo digital

The metaverse is presented as a possible new technological iteration for the Internet. The generation of virtual universes in which the physical and the digital converge raises the question of how education will be addressed in these new systems. We find, however, pioneering exercises such as Minecraft: Education Edition. This platform is a version based on the popular sandbox video game, which was originally created by a community of teachers. The aim of this research is to analyze and describe the idiosyncratic characteristics of Minecraft as an educational platform, framing it as one of the pioneering exercises in the metaverse. To this end, we have employed a methodology that combines Multimodal Discourse Analysis with Grounded Theory and the Constant Comparative Method. As conclusions, we observe how the Minecraft Education platform reinforces from its approach pre-existing aspects from the physical world, resizing them to adapt them to its connected digital environment. These are key elements such as the identity of the participants, their ability to act within the system, creativity through lessons as a guide to the educational objectives and the community as the backbone of the process. At the same time, it presents differential components, such as the use of avatars, the transition from textual literacy to multimodal literacy, game mechanics that boost creativity or transhuman capabilities that defy physical space-time. All in all, the platform is designed for teachers, parents and managers, to whom it offers a series of benefits. Therefore, the pedagogical action will depend on their judgment and execution, especially through the elaboration of lessons and worlds, the management of the sessions and their interaction in community environments. It is their responsibility to ensure that the educational experience is truly empowering or, on the contrary, that it ends up being governed by reproductive criteria linked to symbolic violence.El metaverso se presenta como una posible nueva iteración tecnológica para Internet. La generación de universos virtuales en los que convergen lo físico y lo digital pone sobre la mesa la cuestión de cómo se afrontará la educación en estos nuevos sistemas. Encontramos, no obstante, ejercicios pioneros como Minecraft: Education Edition. Esta plataforma es una versión basada en el popular videojuego sandbox, que fue creada originalmente por una comunidad de profesores. El objetivo de esta investigación es analizar y describir las características idiosincráticas de Minecraft como plataforma educativa, enmarcándola como uno de los ejercicios pioneros en el metaverso. Para ello, se ha empleado una metodología que combina el Análisis del Discurso Multimodal con la Grounded Theory y el Constant Comparative Method. Como conclusiones, se determina que la plataforma Minecraft Education refuerza desde su planteamiento cuestiones pre-existentes en el mundo físico, redimensionándolas para adaptarlas a su entorno digital conectado. Son claves como la identidad de los participantes, la agencia, la creatividad, con las lecciones como guía de los objetivos educativos, y la comunidad como vertebradora del proceso. Al mismo tiempo, presenta componentes diferenciales digitales, como el uso de avatares, la transición de la lectoescritura textual a la alfabetización en entornos multimodales, las mecánicas que impulsan la creatividad o las capacidades transhumanas que desafían el espacio-tiempo físico. Con todo, la plataforma está diseñada para profesores, padres y gestores, a los que ofrece una serie de prebendas. Por tanto, la acción pedagógica dependerá de su criterio y ejecución, especialmente a través de la elaboración de lecciones y mundos, la gestión de las sesiones, y la interacción en los entornos comunitarios. Actividades físico-recreativas para la comunidad tecnológica de la Universidad de Ciencias Médicas de Camagüey

The research is carried out in the technological community of the Medical Sciences University of Camagüey. Through a diagnosis made to the tenth grade it is evident that their own characteristics are not taken into account, and that there are limitations in the recreational offers that favored their participation. For this specific physical - recreational activities are proposed, and they are selected taking into account their tastes and preferences. Theoretical, empirical, and mathematical statistical methods are used. With this research, community work is favored and the specific treatment of the group in question is defined.La investigación se realiza en la comunidad tecnológica de la Universidad de Ciencias Médicas de Camagüey. Mediante un diagnóstico realizado al décimo grado se evidencia que no se tienen en cuenta sus características propias, y que existen limitaciones en las ofertas recreativas que favorecieron la participación de los mismos. Para ello se proponen actividades físico-recreativas específicas, y son seleccionadas teniendo en cuenta sus gustos y preferencias. Se utilizan métodos teóricos, empíricos, y estadísticos matemáticos. Con esta investigación se favorece el trabajo comunitario y se define el tratamiento específico al grupo en cuestión

Morbilidad por hiperestesia dentinal en pacientes atendidos en el consultorio Odontológico Nutrición. Estado Yaracuy

Introduction: the dentinal hyperesthesia is defined like an exaggerated reaction towards the sensitive, tactile, termic, chemical or homeosthatic stimulus, that affect the dentition exposed with open and permeable tubules.Objective:  to determine the aspects of morbility for dentinal hyperesthesia in patients from the ¨Nutrition¨Odontologic Service, since may, 2007 to the 2010.Method: it was performed a descriptive and transversal investigation to determine some aspects related to morbility for dentinal hyperesthesia in patients assisted at the Nutrition Odontologic Service in the Independence municipality in Yacuruy state, during the period may 2007 to may 2010. The data was gathered in the clinical record, there were used statistical and mathematic methods.Results: from the 90 affected patients, 50 were men and the females had 44. 4%, the most affected group was a boy 60 years ald older. It was evidenced an increase in the values of the dentinal hyperesthesia caused by the periodontal retraction with the increase of the age.  The most frequent causes of the dentinal hyperesthesia in the studied population were the absence of the antagonist teeth and the wrong placed prosthesis, showing a greater percent in a total of 13 patients.Conclusions: the most frequent causes were the absence of antagonist teeth and wrong placed prosthesis with 14.4%, the male sex and the group of 60 years and older, the dentinal hyperesthesia in the cervical tertius, the acute pain and the teeth absence, were the prevailing factors.Introducción: la hiperestesia dentinal se define como una respuesta exagerada frente a los estímulos sensitivos, táctiles, térmicos, químicos u homeostáticos, que afectan a la dentina expuesta con túbulos abiertos y permeables.Objetivo: determinar aspectos de la morbilidad por hiperestesia dentinal en pacientes del consultorio odontológico “Nutrición”, desde mayo del 2007 hasta el 2010.Método: se realizó una investigación descriptiva, transversal, para determinar algunos aspectos relacionados con la morbilidad por hiperestesia dentinal en pacientes atendidos en el consultorio odontológico “Nutrición”, municipio Independencia, estado Yaracuy, en el período comprendido entre mayo del 2007 a mayo del 2010. Los datos recogidos en la historia clínica fueron vaciados, utilizando la hoja de cálculo Microsoft Excel para la confección de las tablas, los cuales fueron sometidos al análisis estadístico a través del cálculo porcentual.Resultados: de los 90 pacientes afectados, 50 pertenecieron al sexo masculino y en el caso de las femeninas correspondió a un 44,4% , el grupo de edad más afectado en ambos sexos fue el de 60 y más años. A su vez se aprecia un incremento en los valores de la hiperestesia dentinal provocada por la retracción periodontal a medida que avanza la edad. Las causas más frecuentes de la hiperestesia dentinal en la población estudiada fueron la falta de antagonista y las prótesis mal adaptadas, las que mostraron mayor por ciento presentes en un total de 13 pacientes.Conclusiones: las causas más frecuentes fueron ausencia de dientes antagonistas y las prótesis mal adaptadas con 14,4%, como conclusiones el sexo masculino y el grupo de 60 y más años, la hiperestesia dentinal en el tercio cervical y el dolor severo, la ausencia de dientes fueron prevalecientes.  

Eficacia de la aplicación del propóleos al 8 % en alveolitis dentaria

Introduction: Propolis is a complex substance, from vegetal origin that is prepared by bees from a collection of resins produced in some plants. One of the more important actions is its antimicrobial activity, which is attributed basically to falvonoids, it helps in healing scars and estimulates immunological system, it is anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of propolis at 8 % in patients with alveolitis. Method: An experimental study, controlled clinical trial type, phase III, randomized, double-blind, in the emergency department of the polyclinic Jimmy Hirzel, from April 2014 to April 2015. The research involved 80 patients from 15 to 50 years without premedication and compensated chronic diseases, thus study group was composed of 40 patients who were treated with propolis at 8 % and the same number in the control group treated with alvogyl. The information was collected through a data collection form where the variables of pain, inflammation, scarring, and response to treatment were studied. Results: The following results showed for the study group: 25 patients (62.5 %) had pain relief within 5 minutes of applying the medicine, 30 patients (75 %) were not swollen in the third consultation, and 36 patients (90 %) were healing and 33 patients (82.5 %) responded favorably to treatment. In the control group, the results showed that 19 patients (47.5 %) got pain relieved within 5 minutes of applying the medicine, 25 patients (62.5 %) were not swollen, 34 patients (87.5 %) had complete healing, and 30 patients (75 %) had a favorable response to treatment. The statistical results showed no significant differences in the application of treatment with a p value of 0.58. Conclusion: There were no significative differences in the application of treatment with propolis at 8 % in relation with conventional treatment.Introducción: el propóleos, es una sustancia compleja, de origen vegetal, que preparan las abejas a partir de la recolección de resinas producidas en algunas plantas. Una de las actividades más importantes del propóleos es su actividad antimicrobiana, la cual se le atribuye básicamente a los flavonoides, ayuda en la cicatrización de las heridas, estimula el sistema inmunológico, antinflamatorio y antioxidante.Objetivo: determinar la eficacia del propóleos al 8 % en pacientes atendidos en la alveolitos.Método: se realizó un estudio experimental, tipo ensayo clínico controlado, fase lll, aleatorizado, a doble ciegas, en dos ramas. En el periodo  comprendido de abril 2014 a abril 2015, atendidos en la consulta de urgencias del policlínico Jimmy Hirzel de Bayamo.Resultados: los resultados mostraron para el grupo estudio 25 pacientes (62,5 %) alivio el dolor a los 5 minutos de aplicado el medicamento, 30 paciente (75 %) no estaban inflamados en la tercera consulta, así como 36 pacientes (90 %) tuvieron cicatrización y 33 pacientes (82,5 %) respondieron favorablemente al tratamiento, en el grupo control, los resultados mostraron que 19 pacientes (47,5 %) aliviaron el dolor a los 5 minutos de aplicado el medicamento, 25 pacientes (62,5 %) no estaban inflamados, 34 pacientes (87,5 %) tuvieron cicatrización total y 30 pacientes  (75 %) tuvieron una respuesta favorable al tratamiento.Conclusiones: no existieron diferencias significativas en la aplicación del tratamiento  con propóleos al 8 % con relación al tratamiento convencional.

Dental Caries and gingivitis in second year students of the Stomatology career with academic stress

Se hizo un estudio descriptivo y transversal  para determinar  la relación entre la caries dental y gingivitis con el estrés académico en estudiantes de segundo año de Estomatología en la Filial de Ciencias Médicas de Bayamo “Dr. Efraín Benítez Popa”, durante los meses de noviembre del 2012 a marzo del 2013. El universo estuvo representado por 40 estudiantes que resultaron estresados una vez aplicado el Test Inventario de Estrés Académico y la muestra por 20 estudiantes que tenían alto y medio nivel de estrés académico. Utilizando como variables  el nivel de estrés académico, la edad, el sexo, la presencia de caries dental, gingivitis y el índice COP-D. Para resumir la información se emplearon frecuencias absolutas y tasas de prevalencia reflejadas en tablas estadísticas. Se encontró una elevada prevalencia de dientes cariados (65,0 %) y de gingivitis  en los estudiantes con alto nivel de estrés académico.It was performed a descriptive and transversal study  to determine  the relation between the dental decay and gingivitis with the academic stress in second year students of the Stomatology career in the Subsidiary of Medical Sciences of Bayamo ¨Dr. Efraín Benítez Popa¨, during the months of November of the 2012 to March of the 2013. The universe was represented by 40 students with stress after the application of the Inventory Test of Academic Stress and the sample was made by 20 students with high and medium level of academic stress; using the following variables: level of academic stress, age, sex, presence of dental decay, gingivitis and the index COP-D. To sum up the information there were applied absolute frequencies and taxes of prevalence evidenced in statistical charts. It was found a great prevalence of dental caries (65, 0 %) and gingivitis in the students with a high level of academic stress

RESUMEN Las enfermedades gingivales y periodontales están catalogadas entre las afecciones más comunes del género humano, afectan los tejidos que protegen y soportan los dientes y una vez instaladas traen consigo la privación a los pacientes de su dentadura natural a edades tempranas, constituyen la segunda causa de pérdida dentaria. Realizamos este trabajo para que sirva de material de apoyo docente tanto para el pregrado como el posgrado en la carrera de Estomatología de forma tal que tanto en el nivel primario de salud como en el secundario se llegue a un diagnóstico certero de los diferentes procesos morbosos que se instalan en el periodonto. Enfermedades bucales que constituyen urgencias estomatológicas

Introduction: the bucco dental diseases are diverse as well as their etiologic and predisposing factors, for which they can be considered multifactorial diseases that affect the oral cavity in a different way. Objective: to provide stomatology professionals with updated data about the diseases that they often have to deal with in the stomatology consultations. Method: it was carried out an exhaustive and updated review in regards to the buccal diseases that constitute Stomatology emergences because they are frequent in stomatology consultations, the signs and symptoms of each one and the treatment to be performed. Results: it was concluded then that the pain is the most important sign of acute dental caries or any other oral disease in acute condition, regardless the age, which constitutes an emergency in stomatology. Conclusions: if buccal diseases that constitute emergencies are not treated properly, they will present a fatal outcome for the tooth; hence it is important that the general dentist have an extensive knowledge about them, taking into account the diagnosis, characteristics and treatment.Introducción: las enfermedades buco dentales son diversas así como sus factores etiológicos y predisponentes por lo que se pueden considerar enfermedades multifactoriales que afectan de diferente manera la cavidad bucal.Objetivo: brindar a los profesionales de la estomatología  datos actualizados sobre enfermedades que tienen que tratar frecuentemente en las consultas estomatológicas. Método: se realizó una revisión y actualización exhaustivas sobre las enfermedades bucales que constituyen urgencias estomatológicas ya que es alta la frecuencia de las mismas en las consultas estomatológicas, los signos y síntomas de cada una y el tratamiento que debe realizarse. Resultados: se concluyó que el signo más relevante de la caries dental aguda, o de cualquier otra enfermedad bucal en estado agudo sea cual sea la edad es el dolor, el cual constituye una urgencia en estomatología.Conclusiones: si las enfermedades bucales que constituyen urgencias no son tratadas correctamente, presentarán un desenlace fatal para el diente, de ahí la importancia que tiene que el estomatólogo general  posea un amplio conocimiento sobre las mismas en lo que a diagnostico, características y tratamiento se refier
