Back to “normality". We cannot forget everything we have learnt during the pandemic... and how much we have achieved in the online teaching of architecture. Although the COVID-19 put our learning spaces in crisis, even to the extent of closing universities, it also served Alicante University and a group of Erasmus partners to carry out a self-criticism and to promote a new model of what could be the “University of Europe”: a collaborative online teaching-space between international universities

Competition Research: Matter on Lines – Marble

CONTENT / What it is relevant on Architecture talking about objects is the matter. Matter as a physical substance that create atmospheres, relations and light. The proposal for the workshop is to create matter with lines in order to design a “Material City”. As a second attempt for this workshop, using the definition of Marble, we are going to create matter with a pattern of lines and, going beyond, to design one “Marble City”. For this purpose, we will work together with MIRO. AIMS / To understand the presence of the matter in our projects. To relate drawings, physical models and video as a way to produce an architecture project. METHOD / The students will use the drawing to create matter. We will draw lines and model them to create a space as a matter. Finding opportunities of Multimedia Dawing_Model_Video relationships to start with a project

Memoria de la Red de coordinación de Actividades Docentes, Culturales y de Investigación en la titulación de Arquitectura

La temática de la investigación docente realizada ha consistido en el seguimiento de las actividades desarrolladas en la titulación de Arquitectura y elaboración del ArqCalendar como instrumento para la coordinación y mejora de la calidad docente. El origen de esta Red fue la carencia de herramienta alguna capaz de aglutinar toda la información de actividades docentes, culturales y de investigación desarrolladas en nuestra titulación. La información se halla dispersa en páginas de Departamentos, fichas de asignaturas, blogs, la página de la UA, etc., lo cual impide el correcto seguimiento de las actividades. Se ha generado una Red en la que se encuentran representadas todas las áreas de la titulación y el alumnado para recopilar toda la información de actividades y generar su volcado a la aplicación que mejor se adapte a su mayor difusión. Se han realizado reuniones presenciales y virtuales, y generado a través de las nuevas tecnologías una herramienta capaz de ser actualizada por los distintos miembros de la Red como experiencia piloto para posteriormente ampliar el campo. Esta Red ha cumplido con éxito su objetivo de recoger y anunciar las distintas actividades de la Titulación. Hay que destacar además una consecuencia directa de la misma: que haya servido para establecer colaboraciones entre los miembros de las distintas áreas que imparten la Titulación de Arquitectura

Memoria de coordinación de Actividades Docentes, Culturales y de Investigación en la Titulación de Arquitectura

La temática de la investigación docente realizada ha consistido en ir más allá de realizar un seguimiento de las actividades desarrolladas en la titulación de Arquitectura. Si bien durante el curso anterior esta Red consistió en la elaboración del ArqCalendar como instrumento para la coordinación y mejora de la calidad docente, durante el presente curso su labor se ha centrado en la generación de información docente, especialmente en el campo de Internacionalización. Durante el presente curso no han habido suficientes actividades en la Titulación, un bajo número de noticias incapaz de construir un ArqCalendar. De ahí que la Red se haya transformado, convirtiéndose en motor que genera información y cambiando su herramienta de calendario digital por correos electrónicos masivos dirigidos a todos los alumnos, PDI y PAS de la Titulación. Si el gran beneficio de la Red en su primer año fue servir para establecer colaboraciones entre los miembros de las distintas asignaturas, en su evolución, esta Red ha vuelto a cumplir con éxito otro nuevo objetivo: el de llegar a proponer actividades a la Titulación de Arquitectura

Competition research: Venice in the Metaverso

CONTENT / what is relevant to Architecture nowadays is talking about SUSTAINABILITY AND DIGITALIZATION. WATER as a physical and digital substance that create new environments, relations and horizons. The proposal for the workshop is to create a sustainable space with lines, agents and objects in order to design a project inside the “METAVERSO”. The design will be a scenario for a video game in VENICE. As a third aim for this workshop, using WATER AS ARCHITECTONIC MATTER, we are going to create a new horizon with LINES, AGENTS AND OBJECTS, and, going beyond, to design it into the “METAVERSO”. For this purpose, we will work together with one digital platform. AIMS / to understand the presence of the SUSTAINABLE AND DIGITAL SPACES in our projects. To relate drawings, physical models and video as a way to produce an architecture DIGITAL project. METHOD / The students will use drawing to create A SUSTAINABLE SPACE USING WATER AS A MATTER. We will draw lines, agents and objects, and model them to create a space as a sustainable scenario. EURAU18 Alicante: Retroactive Research: Congress Proceedings

An interdisciplinary research of architecture is something that society demands from our profession. Furthermore, in many countries that are currently immersed in a recessive economic process, it is the only possible solution. In that context, it is urgent to clarify the scope of our projects: Those whose ultimate goal consists of going beyond the limits of other disciplines through the application of architecture. Starting with Architecture’s capacity to learn from other disciplines and to follow their guidelines and techniques, we will build and offer new specific tools. With these new tools, our research will provide the opportunity to challenge and expand the boundaries of those original disciplines. Traditionally, architecture supported itself by various branches of knowledge to advance its proposals: Economic Changes Social organizations Environmental Crisis and Natural Catastrophes Structural Knowledge Artistic Trends New Materials Technological Advances Political positions and Conflicts. While the resulting architectures are excellent examples of applying these areas of knowledge, our interest lies in the reverse process: how the discipline of architecture can cause changes in others. It is an applied research that extends its scope to a prior discourse that originated in the past. That is to say, becomes a Retroactive Research. In the end, the architectural project is an effective document that not only establishes a program but also defines the author as an entrepreneur, understanding this quality as a position that opens the door to different types of practices that architects can exercise: from running a professional architecture office, to teach, to do interior and furniture design, to write, to design digital scenarios, to work in social associations, to collaborate with research centres
