The objective of this work was to follow the maturity of the olives in a commercial Arbequina super-high density orchard and to study the evolution of the olive oil quality. For this objective, the physicochemical, nutritional and sensory parameters were studied. The free acidity was found to be similar during ripening whereas the peroxide index and K232, K270 decreased. The total phenol content and oxidative stability showed a similar trend. First, it increased and then decreased. alpha-tocopherol, saturated fatty acid and pungency decreased. The polyunsaturated content increased while the MUFAS/PUFAS ratio decreased. In 2010, the crop maturity was quicker, and the maturity indexes were higher than in the 2009 crop for the same picking date. Even in the same orchard, the maturity is changing in each crop season. For this reason, it is necessary to choose the optimal harvesting date

A huge volume of Engraulis ringens (Peruvian anchoveta) is caught together with the species Pleuroncodes monodon (munida), whose potential bioactive lipids are not commercially exploited. In the present study, lipid with carotenoid pigment (astaxanthin) and essential fatty acids (EPA+DHA) were obtained from munida lipids extracted with hexane:isopropyl alcohol (He-I), acetone (Ac), ethanol (Et) and supercritical CO2 + ethanol (SC-CO2-Et). The functional quality of the fatty acids was determined by atherogenicity index (AI), thrombogenicity index (TI) and the hypocholesterolemia:hypercholesterolemia (H:H) ratio. The highest astaxanthin (ASTX) contents (4238.65 and 4086.71 µg/g lipid) corresponded to extractions using Ac and SC-CO2-Et. EPA+DHA ranged from 31.15 to 31.85% and the functional quality ranges were between 0.56-0.61 (AI), 0.19-0.21 (TI) and 1.73-1.81 (H:H). Consequently, SC-CO2-Et extraction would be advisable because of its low environmental impact. The IA and IT quality indexes suggest that the consumption of munida lipids would be healthy, although the H:H ratio shows the opposite.RESUMEN Las enormes capturas de Engraulis ringens (anchoveta Peruana) son acompañadas por la especie Pleuroncodes monodon (munida) cuyo potencial en lípidos bioactivos no es aprovechado comercialmente.

Nitro-fatty acids (NO2-FAs) are novel molecules resulting from the interaction of unsaturated fatty acids and nitric oxide (NO) or NO-related molecules. In plants, it has recently been described that NO2-FAs trigger an antioxidant and a defence response against stressful situations. Among the properties of NO2-FAs highlight the ability to release NO therefore modulating specific protein targets through post-translational modifications (NO-PTMs). Thus, based on the capacity of NO2-FAs to act as physiological NO donors and using high-accuracy mass-spectrometric approaches, herein, we show that endogenous nitro-linolenic acid (NO2-Ln) can modulate S nitrosoglutathione (GSNO) biosynthesis in Arabidopsis. The incubation of NO2-Ln with GSH was analyzed by LC-MS/MS and the in vitro synthesis of GSNO was noted. The in vivo confirmation of this behavior was carried out by incubating Arabidopsis plants with 15N-labeled NO2-Ln throughout the roots, and 15N-labeled GSNO (GS15NO) was detected in the leaves. With the aim to go in depth in the relation of NO2-FA and GSNO in plants, Arabidopsis alkenal reductase mutants (aer mutants) which modulate NO2-FAs levels were used. Our results constitute the first evidence of the modulation of a key NO biological reservoir in plants (GSNO) by these novel NO2-FAs, increasing knowledge about S-nitrosothiols and GSNO-signaling pathways in plants. This work was supported by an ERDF grant cofinanced by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness FIGURE 7 | Modulation of GSNO-signalling pathway by NO2-Ln in Arabidopsis leaves. NO2-Ln is up-taken by the root system and transported to plant leaves. Once in these organs, NO2-Ln can release nitric oxide (NO) and mediate the S-nitrosation of abundant glutathione (GSH) present in plant leaves and leading to the formation of S-nitrosoglutathione (GSNO). The generation of this low-molecular weight S-nitrosothiol (SNO) from NO2-Ln can affect the SNO-signaling pathway by modulating the transport and storage of NO, the response to several (a)biotic stress conditions or mediating the ability of SNO to perform post-translational modifications. Decision-Making Ontology for Information System Engineering

    No full text
International audienceInformation Systems (IS) engineering (ISE) processes contain steps where decisions must be made. Moreover, the growing role of IS in organizations involves requirements for ISE such as quality, cost and time. Considering these aspects implies that the number of researches dealing with decision-making (DM) in ISE increasingly grows. As DM becomes widespread in the ISE field, it is necessary to build a representation, shared between researchers and practitioners, of DM concepts and their relations with DM problems in ISE. In this paper, we present a DM ontology which aims at formalizing DM knowledge. Its goal is to enhance DM and to support DM activities in ISE. This ontology is illustrated within the requirements engineering field

Radial asymptotics of Lemaitre-Tolman-Bondi dust models

We examine the radial asymptotic behavior of spherically symmetric Lemaitre-Tolman-Bondi dust models by looking at their covariant scalars along radial rays, which are spacelike geodesics parametrized by proper length \ell, orthogonal to the 4-velocity and to the orbits of SO(3). By introducing quasi-local scalars defined as integral functions along the rays, we obtain a complete and covariant representation of the models, leading to an initial value parametrization in which all scalars can be given by scaling laws depending on two metric scale factors and two basic initial value functions. Considering regular "open" LTB models whose space slices allow for a diverging \ell, we provide the conditions on the radial coordinate so that its asymptotic limit corresponds to the limit as \ell\to\infty. The "asymptotic state" is then defined as this limit, together with asymptotic series expansion around it, evaluated for all metric functions, covariant scalars (local and quasi-local) and their fluctuations. By looking at different sets of initial conditions, we examine and classify the asymptotic states of parabolic, hyperbolic and open elliptic models admitting a symmetry center. We show that in the radial direction the models can be asymptotic to any one of the following spacetimes: FLRW dust cosmologies with zero or negative spatial curvature, sections of Minkowski flat space (including Milne's space), sections of the Schwarzschild--Kruskal manifold or self--similar dust solutions.Comment: 44 pages (including a long appendix), 3 figures, IOP LaTeX style.
