    Numerical analysis of thermo-mechanical behavior of indium micro-joint at cryogenic temperatures

    Microelectronic packaging plays an important role in cryogenic engineering; in particular, a solder joint as interconnection, which offers a mechanical, thermal and electrical support, undergoes much larger and harsher thermal changes during its service compared with conventional customer electronic products. The impact of thermo-mechanical properties of such solder joints under cryogenic service conditions becomes even more significant due to the continuing miniaturization of solder joints. Indium, a solder material with a low melting point and excellent cryogenic properties, has been favorable in various low temperature applications, in particular, to form solder joints for electronics interconnections. In order to understand the fundamental aspects of reliability of indium joints, this paper reports a constitutive model accounting for the effect of temperature change on thermo-mechanical behavior of indium joints. Especially, the model is used and subsequently implemented in a FE analysis to simulate a hybrid pixel detector system, in which indium micro-joints are manufactured to serve at cryogenic conditions. The response of indium joints to low-temperature cycling (300-76 K) was analyzed based on the proposed model, which not only offers a tool to understand the performance and experimental testing of solder joints under cryogenic temperatures, but can also be used for design optimization of the microelectronic package

    Routing policy validation for the integrated system supporting routing in Software Defined Networks (SDNRoute)

    In the article, a validation module, being a component of an integrated system supporting routing in software defined networks (SDNRoute), is proposed and thoroughly examined. The module allows for the verification of the results provided by the optimization module before these results are deployed in the production network. Routing policies are validated for their impact on the network quality parameters and against the threat of overloading (congestion)

    Ovarian reserve of women with and without BRCA pathogenic variants: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

    INTRODUCTION Preliminary clinical evidence suggests a detrimental effect of pathogenic variants of BRCA1 and 2 genes on fertility outcome. This meta-analysis evaluates whether women carrying BRCA mutations (BRCAm) have decreased ovarian reserve, in terms of Anti-Muellerian Hormone (AMH), compared to women without BRCAm (wild-type). MATERIAL AND METHODS Systematic searches of PubMed, Medline, Scopus, Embase, Science Direct and the Cochrane Library from inception until July 2020 were conducted. All studies comparing AMH level in fertile age women, with and without BRCA pathogenic variants were considered. Sub-analyses were performed according to age, presence of breast cancer, and type of mutation. RESULTS Among 64 studies, 10 series were included. For the entire cohort, a trend of reduced AMH level were found between BRCAm carriers and women without pathogenic variants. BRCAm carriers aged 41-years or younger had lower AMH levels compared to 41-years or younger wild type women (OR: 0.73 [95%CI-1.12;-0.35]; p = 0.0002). This finding was confirmed for BRCA1m carriers (OR: 1 [95%CI-1.96;-0.05]; p = 0.004) whereas no difference was observed between BRCA2m carriers and wild type women. The same analysis on breast cancer patients with and without BRCAm achieved the same results. CONCLUSION Young BRCA1m carriers seem to have lower AMH level compared with wild type women and therefore a potential decreased ovarian reserve

    An engineered anti-idiotypic antibody-derived killer peptide (KP) early activates swine inflammatory monocytes, CD3+CD16+ natural killer T cells and CD4+CD8α+ double positive CD8β+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes associated with TNF-α and IFN-γ secretion

    This study evaluated the early modulation of the phenotype and cytokine secretion in swine immune cells treated with an engineered killer peptide (KP) based on an anti-idiotypic antibody functionally mimicking a yeast killer toxin. The influence of KP on specific immunity was investigated using porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) and porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) as ex vivo antigens. Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) from healthy pigs were stimulated with KP and with a scramble peptide for 20 min, 1, 4 and 20 h or kept unstimulated. The cells were analyzed using flow cytometry and ELISA. The same time-periods were used for KP pre-incubation/co-incubation to determine the effect on virus-recalled interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) secreting cell (SC) frequencies and single cell IFN-γ productivity using ELISPOT. KP induced an early dose-dependent shift to pro-inflammatory CD172α+CD14+high monocytes and an increase of CD3+CD16+ natural killer (NK) T cells. KP triggered CD8α and CD8β expression on classical CD4−CD8αβ+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL) and double positive (DP) CD4+CD8α+ Th memory cells (CD4+CD8α+low CD8β+low). A fraction of DP cells also expressed high levels of CD8α. The two identified DP CD4+CD8α+high CD8β+low/+high CTL subsets were associated with tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) and IFN-γ secretion. KP markedly boosted the reactivity and cross-reactivity of PRRSV type-1- and PCV2b-specific IFN-γ SC. The results indicate the efficacy of KP in stimulating Th1-biased immunomodulation and support studies of KP as an immunomodulator or vaccine adjuvant

    Pregnancy in a patient with resistant ovary syndrome – a case report

    Abstract Resistant ovary syndrome (ROS) and premature ovarian failure( POF) represent two forms of hypergonadotropic hypogonadism. Principal symptoms include primary or secondary amenorrhea (before the age of 40 years), low levels of estradiol and elevated FSH (above 40IU/ml) in serum. The main difference is the presence of follicles in ROS which is tantamount to the possibility of pregnancy. We present the case of pregnancy in a 31-year-old patient who was initially diagnosed with POF, which was the basis of the final diagnosis of ROS
