    Islamic thought in Indonesia will never end, Islam is always interesting to observe, one of which is about the birth of liberal Islamic thought in the 1970s. This started when Cak Nur gave a speech at the Eid al-Fitr gathering organized by HMI, PII, GPI and Persami. In his speech he said that Islamic thought is currently in a state of confusion, because there are many Islamic parties who want to revive an Islamic state. Therefore, Cak Nur proposed a controversial cargon, namely "Islam Yes, Islamic Party No!". The cargo became a controversy that caused divisions among Islamic intellectuals. This research is a literature study, namely research that cites books as the source, using books on Islam and Liberalism as the primary data, then secondary data is obtained through data that is related to the theme. The technique used in this research is descriptive analysis method. By analyzing primary data and secondary data, then a selection process is carried out that can find results that are in accordance with this research. The results of this research analysis are, First, liberal Islam according to Budhy Munawar Rachman includes two things, namely: the basis and nature of liberal Islam. This explains that all humans have the freedom to choose their beliefs. The two ethical principles can be a solution in answering the problems that will occur in Islam. The three principles of this method aim to develop liberal Islamic thought so that it can be a solution and provide a new discourse that maintains existing Islamic knowledge

    Insertion of ester bonds in three terpolymerization systems

    Nonbiodegradable (co)polymers with all-carbon backbone produced via radical polymerization are used in various applications. For some applications, like for example in skincare and haircare, these polymers are nonrecoverable and therefore would be preferably made biodegradable. Therefore, inserting ester bonds in the backbone via radical ring opening terpolymerization of acrylates and 2-methylene-1,3 dioxepane (MDO) could be a suitable approach to obtain biodegradable terpolymers. This report investigates the influence of batch versus semibatch process on the polymerization of three terpolymerization systems viz. (i) methacrylamide (MAAM)/n-butyl acrylate (nBA)/BMDO (5,6-Benzo-2-Methylene-1,3-Dioxepane), (ii) MAAM/nBA/MDO, and (iii) methyl methacrylate (MMA)/VAc (vinyl acetate) /MDO. We demonstrate the improvement in number of ester groups inserted and the homogeneity of insertion via semibatch polymerization processes. The process is guided via optimal monomer addition feeding profiles generated using the reactivity ratios of comonomers. Such improved insertion was demonstrated by the molecular weight distribution of fragments after alkali degradation in the investigated systems.</p

    The roles of soybean lecithin in aquafeed: a crucial need and update

    Soybean lecithin is extensively used as the dietary supplementation of phospholipids in animal production. Soybean lecithin plays significant roles in aquafeed as growth promoter, feed enhancer, immunity modulator and antioxidant activity stimulator for aquaculture species. Besides, soybean lecithin is also reported to help aquaculture species being resilient to physical and chemical stressors. In this review, common sources, chemical structure and mode of action of lecithin, with highlight on soybean lecithin application in aquaculture over four-decadal studies published between 1983 and 2023, were evaluated and summarized. By far, soybean lecithin is best-known for its beneficial effects, availability yet cost-effective for aquafeed formulation. Findings from this review also demonstrate that although nutritional profile of long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids and phosphatidylcholine from egg yolk and marine sources are superior to those from plant sources such as soybean, it is rather costly for sustainable application in aquafeed formulation. Moreover, commercially available products that incorporate soybean lecithin with other feed additives are promising to boost aquaculture production. Overall, effects of soybean lecithin supplementation are well-recognized on larval and juvenile of aquaculture species which having limited ability to biosynthesis phospholipids de novo, and correspondingly attribute to phospholipid, a primary component of soybean lecithin, that is essential for rapid growth during early stages development. In addition, soybean lecithin supplementation plays a distinguish role in stimulating maturation of gonadal development in the adults, especially for crustaceans

    A Roadmap towards Successful Nanocapsule Synthesis via Vesicle Templated RAFT-Based Emulsion Polymerization

    Vesicle templated emulsion polymerization is a special form of emulsion polymerization where the polymer is grown from the outside of the vesicle, leading to nanocapsules. Cost effective nanocapsules synthesis is in high demand due to phasing out of older methods for capsule synthesis. Although the first indications of this route being successful were published some 10 years ago, until now a thorough understanding of the parameters controlling the morphologies resulting from the template emulsion polymerization was lacking. Most often a mixture of different morphologies was obtained, ranging from solid particles to pro-trusion structures to nanocapsules. A high yield of nanocapsules was not achieved until now. In this paper, the influence of initial vesicle dispersion, choice of the Reversible Addition-Fragmentation chain Transfer (RAFT) species and oligomer, monomer and crosslinker have been investigated. It turns out that good initial vesicle dispersion, molecular control of the RAFT process, a not too hydrophobic monomer and some crosslinking is needed to result in high yield of nanocapsules. In previous work, the level of RAFT control was often suboptimal and not properly verified and although nanocapsules were shown, other morphologies were also present. We now believe we have a full understanding of vesicle templated nanocapsules synthesis, relevant to many applications

    Where should hydrology go? An early-career perspective on the next IAHS Scientific Decade: 2023-2032

    This paper shares an early-career perspective on potential themes for the upcoming International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS) scientific decade (SD). This opinion paper synthesizes six discussion sessions in western Europe identifying three themes that all offer a different perspective on the hydrological threats the world faces and could serve to direct the broader hydrological community: “Tipping points and thresholds in hydrology”, “Intensification of the water cycle”, and “Water services under pressure”. Additionally, four trends were distinguished concerning the way in which hydrological research is conducted: big data, bridging science and practice, open science, and inter- and multidisciplinarity. These themes and trends will provide valuable input for future discussions on the theme for the next IAHS SD. We encourage other Early-Career Scientists to voice their opinion by organizing their own discussion sessions and commenting on this paper to make this initiative grow from a regional initiative to a global movement
