INCREASING STUDENTS’ ABILITY IN WRITING A RECOUNT TEXT

Abstract : The purpose of the study is to know the students’ improvement writing personal recount text by using personal experiences in students’ journal for the eighth grade students of SMPN 2 Sungai Pinyuh in academic year 2013/2014. It is expected that the research would be useful for the teachers and students in language teaching and learning process. The form of this research is classroom action research. The subject of the study is the Eighth Grade Students of SMPN 2 Sungai Pinyuh in academic year 2013/2014. The technique used for collecting data is written test. In the research the writer also applied field notes. The field notes were used to take notes about teaching learning activities which related to the used of students’ journal in writing recount text. Based on the students’ mark, there was significant improvement of the students’ achievement. In the first cycle the students’ mean score was 52.9. At the second cycle the students’ mean score was 65.8. And at the third cycle the students’ mean score was 78.5. The improvement the students’ personal journal was effective to improve the students’ ability to develop ideas in recount writing. It was because by using students’ personal journal students could write their personal experiences then rewrite the journal into a good form of recount writing. Keywords : Teaching, Writing, Recount, Students’ journal Abstrak : Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan siswa menulis teks recount dengan menggunakan jurnal siswa yang untuk siswa kelas VIII SMPN 2 Sungai Pinyuh Tahun Pelajaran 2013/2014. Diharapkan agar penelitian ini bermanfaat dalam proses belajar mengajar. Bentuk penelitian yang diterapkan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas pada siswa kelas VIII di SMP N 2 Sungai Pinyuh tahun pelajaran 2013/2014. Tehnik pengumpulan data dengan menggunakan test tertulis. Dalam penelitian ini peneliti juga menggunakan field notes yang digunakan untuk merekan aktivitas belajar mengajar dengan menggunakan jurnal siswa untuk mengarang teks recount. Berdasarkan nilai siswa terdapat peningkatan dimana pada siklus pertama rata-rata kelas adalah 52.9, pada siklus kedua 65.8 dan pada siklus ketiga 78.5. Peningkatan ini menunjukkan bahwa jurnal siswa dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks recount. Keywords : Mengajar, Menulis, Teks recount, Jurnal sisw

TEACHING RECOUNT TEXT WRITING USING PICTURE SERIES

Abstract: The research is about improving ability on recount text writing through Pictures Series to the Eighth Grade Students 0f SMPN 2 Monterado.  The purpose of the study is to know how Pictures Series improves the Students’ ability in writing recount text. It is expected that the research would be useful for the teachers and students in language teaching and learning process. The method used in this research is a Classroom Action Research which consists of Planning, Acting, Observing and Reflecting. This method is done in three cycles in order to get the maximum result of the research. The number of research participant is 30 students. The tools of collecting data are reading test, observation checklist and field notes. In Cycle 1, the students’ mean score was 53.5. and cycle 2, the mean score was 59. Then, cycle 3 was 72.6. Based on the standard of passing score of the school which is 65, the result of the 3rd cycle is already adegrate. It is suggested that the research has been successful. Tujuan dari studi ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana penggunaan gambar berseri dalam meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks recount. Penelitian ini diharapkan bisa membantu guru dan siswa dalam proses belajar-mengajar. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas yang terdiri dari Perencanaan, Tindakan, Observasi dan Refleksi dimana penelitit menjelaskan hasil penelitian dengan meningkatkan kualitas data yang diperoleh. Untuk memaksimalkan hasil penelitian, Peneliti melaksanakan tiga siklus dalam penelitian ini. Jumlah partisipan adalah 30 siswa. Alat pengumpulan data adalah tes menulis teks recount, observasi dan catatan. Hasil rata-rata pada siklus 1 adalah 53,5 dan siklus ke-2 59. Kemudian ketika dilakukan siklus ketiga hasil rata-rata siswa adalah 72.6. Berdasarkan pada KKM, 65, maka penelitian ini berhasil karena siklus ke-3 sudah melebihi standar. IMPROVING STUDENTS’ SPEAKING SKILLS THROUGH THINK-PAIR-SHARE TECHNIQUE

Abstract: Think-pair-share technique is a cooperative technique which is used to teach in the classroom with emphasized on activities students done at each of the stages. The purpose of this research was to describe how TPS technique improve students’ speaking skill on the Eleventh grade students AP1 (Akomodasi Perhotelan) of SMKN 5 Pontianak. This research used classroom action research as the research design. The sample of this research were 28 students of Eleventh grade, Akomodasi Perhotelan class. There was improvement in each cycle after applying TPS technique in the classroom. The students’ achievement in the first cycle was categorized as poor to average and students’ achievement in the second and third cycle were categorized as average to good. The improvement also can be seen by the activeness of students’ involvement in the speaking activities while teaching learning process. TPS technique can be used by the teacher as alternative to improve students’ speaking skill.   Keywords: Speaking skill, TPS technique, CAR  Abstrak: Think-pair-share tehnik adalah tehnik kooperatif yang digunakan untuk mengajar dikelas yang menekankan pada aktifitas yang siswa lakukan disetiap langkah-langkahnya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan bagaimana tehnik TPS meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa kelas 11 AP1 (Akomodasi Perhotelan) SMKN 5 Pontianak. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian tindakan kelas sebagai bentuk penelitian. Sampel dari penelitian ini adalah 28 siswa kelas 11 AP1 (Akomodasi Perhotelan). Terdapat peningkatan pada setiap siklusnya setelah penerapan tehnik TPS dikelas. Pencapaian siswa disiklus pertama dikategorikan “poor to average” dan disiklus kedua dan ketiga dikategorikan “average to good”. Peningkatan tersebut juga dapat dilihat melalui keaktifan dari keterlibatan siswa didalam aktifitas berbicara ketika proses belajar mengajar. Tehnik TPS bisa digunakan oleh guru sebagai alternatif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa.  Kata kunci: Kemampuan berbicara, tehnik TPS, CA

Financing Budget Preparation Process in Autis State SLB, North Sumatra

SLB Negeri Autisme Sumatera Utara merupakan sekolah berkebutuhan khusus yang mempunyai program dan sasaran untuk meningkatkan pemahaman, pengetahuan, dan meningkatkan kemampuan siswa di sekolah tersebut dimana penganggaran yang dilakukan belum matang dan tidak sesuai harapan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memahami dan menganalisis bagaimana perencanaan anggaran di sekolah. Teknik analisis menggunakan deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan SLB Negeri Autisme Sumatera Utara dalam melaksanakan program harus merencanakan dan mempersiapkan anggaran dengan baik, agar tepat sasaran, pimpinan harus mengkaji ulang tujuan yang telah ditetapkan, mengidentifikasi kebutuhan yang ada saat merancang program kerja, menentukan prioritas pekerjaan agar anggaran disalurkan secara efektif, memperkirakan biaya-biaya yang ada sehingga anggaran tepat untuk disalurkan, menentukan pengalokasian dana, mengatur dana agar fleksibel, melakukan pengendalian atau pengawasan, perbaikan di kemudian hari jika terjadi ketidakefektifan dalam penyaluran anggaran

DEVELOPING STUDENTS’ READING COMPREHENSION OF NARRATIVE TEXT THROUGH DIRECTED READING-THINKING ACTIVITY STRATEGY

Abstract: This research answers the problem that is, the use of directed reading thinking activity strategy improves students’ reading comprehension on narrative text of the eighth grade of SMP N 2 Pontianak. This study was conducted to answer the following problems:How does directed reading-thinking activity  improve students’ reading comprehension in the orientation, complication and resolution in narrative text?In this research, direct reading thinking strategy is reading strategy in which focused on developing the students reading comprehension in finding out the main idea and the detailed information and understanding the reference, inference and the new or unknown vocabularies of narrative text. This study used classroom action research method. The tools of data collection used observation checklist, and field note. On the first, second and the third cycle the writer used picture and text as helping strategy. From the result of measurement test, the data showed that the students’ mean score had improvement from the first cycle to the third cycle. The research results showed that students’ reading comprehension on narrative text improved after being taught by Directed Reading-Thinking Activity Strategy.   Keyword: Reading Comprehension, Narrative Text, and Direct Thinking Activity Strategy. Abstrak: Penelitian ini menjawab masalah mengenai penggunaan strategi membaca cermat  secara langsung dalam meningkatkan pemahaman membaca pada teks narrative terhadap siswa  kelas delapan di SMP Negeri 2 Pontianak . studi ini untuk menjawab permasalah berikut: bagaimana strategi membaca cermat  secara langsung dapat meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman membaca siswa melalui orientasi,complikasi dan resolusi pada teks naratif. Dalam penelitian ini direct reading thinking activity strategi adalah strategi membaca yang mana berfokus dalam meningkatkan pemahaman membaca siswa dalam menemukan ide pokok, infornasi terperinci, referensi, kesimpulan dan kosa kata baru pada teks naratif. Studi ini menggunakan metode penelitian tindakan kelas. Alat pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi centang dan halaman catatan. Dalam siklus pertama, kedua dan ketiga penulis menggunakan gambar dan teks sebagai membantu tekhnik tersebut. Dari hasil tes penilaian, data menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata –rata siswa mengalami peningkatan dari siklus pertama hingga siklus ketiga. Dari hasil analisis data menunjukkan pemahaman membaca siswa pada teks naratif menggunakan direct reading thinking activity strategy meningkat. INCREASING STUDENTS’ SPEAKING ABILITY USING SEQUENCED PICTURE STORY

AbstractThis research discussed about increasing Students’ Speaking Ability Using Sequenced Pictures Story, A Classroom Action Research on the eighth grade Students of SMP Negeri 7 Pontianak in Academic Year 2017/2018. The focus was on pronunciation aspect. The research problem was “How does Sequenced Pictures Story technique improve students’ speaking ability of year-8 students of SMP Negeri 7 Pontianak  in academic year 2017/2018?” In teaching-learning process, the participants were 25 students of VIII B class of which the teacher and the researcher was a collaborator. The result of this research showed that students’ speaking ability, especially in pronunciation had increased. In first cycle, students had some problems in pronouncing words, and pause inappropriately, while in the second cycle, they had time to practice more, thus their problems were solved. In conclusion, Sequenced Pictures Story could be applied to increase students’ speaking ability, especially pronunciation.Key words: Sequenced Pictures Story, Speaking Ability, Pronunciatio
