Phenology and production scheduling of 'Smooth Cayenne' pineapple in Mato Grosso's Cerrado
The objective of this work was to evaluate the effects of planting dates and of floral induction age on phenology, harvest period, and production scheduling of 'Smooth Cayenne' pineapple, in the Cerrado of the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil. The experiment was carried out at Tangará do Serra, MT, from november 2005 to september 2008. Six planting dates – January, March, May, July, September, November –, and five ages of floral induction – 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 months after planting –, in addition to natural flowering, were tested. The analyzed variables were: periods from floral induction to flowering, flowering to harvest, induction to harvest, and from planting to harvest; mass of fruit with crown and crown mass; and D leaf length. There was no interaction between planting dates and floral induction periods. Floral induction held in May and July, period with low temperatures and precipitation, promoted the elongation of plant cycle and lowered fruit mass and D leaf length. The induction held in September and November led to the harvest in seasons with favorable prices, regardless of the planting month, with no interference in fruit mass.
Production of yellow passion fruit under different planting densities
Estimation of the genetic diversity of jabuticaba trees and association among fruit characters
The aim of this study was to evaluate the genetic dissimilarity of different jabuticaba tree accessions from Prudente de Moraes, Minas Gerais State, Brazil, based on fruit characters. The genetic diversity study was carried out based on characters evaluated in fruits, and with the elimination of redundant descriptors, nine characters were selected to estimate genetic divergence and perform clustering. The Standardized Mean Euclidian Distance was used as dissimilarity measure. The clustering methods used were Tocher and the nearest neighbor. Correlation analysis among characters was performed by Pearson correlation (p> 0.05). Accessions 4, 5, 7 and 12 have potential for in improvement programs aiming for productivity. The character that contributed most to the genetic diversity of the accessions were the soluble solids important for the processing industry and for fresh consumption. Genotypes showed variability for most characters analyzed showing the possibility of selection and identification of parents that will be used in future crossings. The aim of this study was to evaluate the genetic dissimilarity of different jabuticaba tree accessions from Prudente de Moraes, Minas Gerais State, Brazil, based on fruit characters. Flowering, fruit production and quality of passion fruit hybrids in Minas Gerais, Brazil
The aim of this work was to characterize flowering aspects, as well as to evaluate the agronomic performance and fruit quality of the main sour passion fruit hybrids. The experimental design was randomized blocks with four replicates and five treatments, consisting of the following commercial hybrids: ‘FB300-Araguary’, ‘FB200-Yellow Master’, ‘BRS Gigante Amarelo, ‘BRS Sol do Cerrado’ and ‘BRS Rubi do Cerrado’ and the experimental unit consisted of three plants. Phenological characterization and the aspects related to flowering were performed through visual observations of the beginning and duration of the events. Hybrid production was determined by weighing all fruits harvested during the production period. For physical and physicochemical variables such as fruit mass, peel mass, seed mass, pulp mass, peel yield, seed yield, pulp yield, peel thickness, number of seeds, longitudinal diameter, transverse diameter, fruit shape, were evaluated, peel firmness, peel and pulp color, pH, total soluble solids, total titratable acidity and TSS/TTA ratio were evaluated. The beginning of flowering and harvesting was 02/22/19 and 04/22/2019, respectively. All studied hybrids had similar production and yield responses, with ideal physical characteristics for processing or fresh consumption.

Available soil water upper limit by modeling and direct determination in a greenhouse
Pot capacity (PC) is a direct method of determining field capacity (FC) for experiments with plantings in pots. The objective of this study was to evaluate different laboratory methods to determine field capacity and compare them with the pot capacity method. The experimental design was completely randomized (CRD), with nine treatments (methods of obtaining FC) and four replications, totaling 36 experimental plots. The mean values of moisture contents in the FC of the nine methods were compared, being eight empirically obtained and one directly in the greenhouse, defined as a control treatment (PC). The relative accuracy (RA) for all treatments was determined in relation to the control treatment. The estimation of the upper limit of available water in the soil varies depending on the method, and a decreasing order of moisture levels can be observed at FC: FC-Lab4pts > FC-Labip > FC-Lab8pts > PC > FC-Lab6pts > FC-6KPa > FC-LabSWRC > FC-10KPa > FC-33KPa. The treatment FC-Lab6pts has the relative accuracy closest to 100% and can be a practical alternative to PC. The use of 4, 6, 8 or 10 points for modeling the SWRC does not interfere with the quality of the FC estimated by the Dexter inflection point method, which is much more efficient for experiments of this nature. The use of potentials -10 kPa and -33 kPa is not adequate to estimate FC in tests with pots in a greenhouse
A videira cv.
