Electron collisions with the CF radicals using the R-matrix method

    Get PDF
The R-matrix method is used to treat electron collisions with the diatomic radical CF as a function of internuclear separation, R. These calculations concentrate on obtaining low-energy (< 10 eV) elastic and excitation cross sections of the five lowest-lying electronically excited states of the symmetries X2 Π, 4 Σ-, 2 Σ+, 2Δ, 2 Σ- and 4 Π, with vertical excitation energies in the range of 2.86–10 eV. Special measures are required to treat 2 Σ+, which is Rydberg-like for R < 2.6 a0. Three shape resonances of 3Σ-,1 Δ and 1 Σ+ symmetries are fitted. The 1 Δ and 1 Σ+ resonances have a position of 0.91 and 2.19 eV respectively at the equilibrium bond length of CF. The position of the 3 Σ- resonance is close to zero at Re = 2.44 a0 and the resonance becomes bound at larger R. Two weakly bound states of symmetries 3Π and 1 Π were also detected at the equilibrium geometry. Calculations which stretch the C–F bond show that the 1Δ resonance becomes bound at R = 3.3 a0 and 1 Σ+ at larger R

With this collection, editors C. L. Higham and Robert Thacker aim to define the parameters and potential of the Canada-U.S. comparative Wests field of study, with particular reference to its myths. The American Review of Canadian Studies (winter 2003) originally published the main body of essays, but this republication has important additions. New appendices include Frederick Jackson Turner\u27s 1893 essay on The Significance of the Frontier in American History and J. M. S. Careless\u27s 1954 essay on Frontierism, Metropolitanism, and Canadian History. Both are useful for understanding what R. Douglas Frances in a separate essay states as the persistent difficulty of getting beyond and supplanting the influence of Turner and Harold Adams Innis on u.S.-Canada West history. A third appendix presents Higham\u27s thoughts on the most important works in the field, new and classic, and its major problems, especially the symbiotic relationship between comparative, transnational, and borderlands histories. New features, Questions to Ponder and Must Reads, emphasize the conversations the editors wish to deepen. This edition has fewer illustrations than the special issue of ARCS, but includes new maps; especially useful are visualizations of the Canadian Theory of Metropolitanism and the American Frontier Thesis. Individual essays point to ways the field of comparative North American Wests could advance beyond its emergent status. Frances suggests new depth might be found in uncovering a multiplicity of myths shaped by diverse western peoples, while William H. Katerberg clarifies a northern element that distinguishes both Canadian national and western myths from those of the U.S. Sarah Carter argues that the gendered dimensions of mythic social and cultural constructs and nation building need complex consideration. Her essay explores how different national policies played out in the lives of Aboriginal and white women. Great Plains Quarterly readers will be pleased that many of the theories and queries about comparative Wests are discussed with reference to the states and provinces of its region of focus. Readers will be interested especially in David L. Williams\u27s discussion of the French history of the transnational northern grasslands

This bachelor thesis presents a variant solution of mass production of motorcycle brake wheel. These are part of rotating component of large diameter and small thickness made up mainly of carbon steel. The thesis presents methods for the production of unconventional machining technologies and methods of molding. As appropriate variants were selected technologies of laser cutting, water jet cutting, plasma cutting, blanking and fineblanking. The individual methods are described and evaluated their suitability for production. For fineblanking method which seems to be optimal is indicated the production process.

In part one, I walk through some examples using the Minkowski metric. In part two, I continue analyzing the Minkowski metric by looking at its isometry algebra in more detail. In part three, I go over how to use MetricSearch to retrieve cataloged metrics and analyze a couple of example metrics. In part four, I provide the code, with minimal introduction, that I used to automate the procedures discussed in the previous tutorials

Master's thesis focus on the rationalisation of the holes drilling technology in the bearing rings which are defined for wind generators. This work contains review of drilling tools, analysis of the current state and proposal of rationalising precautions. Rationalising precautions are focused mainly on the adequate choice of the drilling technology and applied tools. The most suitable option was chosen for the drilling of holes according to the economical evaluation.
