Dyson-Schwinger equation treatments of the strong interaction show that the presence and importance of nonpointlike diquark correlations within the nucleon are a natural consequence of dynamical chiral symmetry breaking. Using this foundation, we deduce a collection of simple formulae, expressed in terms of diquark appearance and mixing probabilities, from which one may compute ratios of longitudinal-spin-dependent u- and d-quark parton distribution functions on the domain x =1. A comparison with predictions from other approaches plus a consideration of extant and planned experiments shows that the measurement of nucleon longitudinal spin asymmetries on x =1 can add considerably to our capacity for discriminating between contemporary pictures of nucleon structure.Comment: 6 pages, 1 table, 3 figures. An Unusual case of flaccid Quadriplegia

This case describes a 47 years old Obese post menopausal lady with sudden onset flaccid quadriparesis with sparing of posterior column sensation .She has a prior history of Diabetes mellitus ,systemic hypertension ,Dyslipidemia , and hypothyroidism on regular .She was admitted for 1 day history of fever and malaise, laboratory parameters suggestive of a Possible a viral ethnology .She developed sudden onset of weakness, initially started on her Lower limb and progressing to her upper limb within few hours along with bladder involvement which appeared on the next day of hospitalisation prompt thinking of a demyelination like pattern after ruling out mechanical causes with a radiograph .In the background of a fever prompted thinking of a fast progressing demyelination like a GBS/ADEM and even started IVIG as there is always some time delay for MRI to arrive. The MRI report suggested of Thrombosis of ASA territory involving the anterior paramedian aspect of Medulla extending up to the upper cervical cord. She remained quadriplegic thereafter and 6 months later despite receiving antiplatelets, Physiotherapy and other supportive treatments. The case described here elaborates the clinical presentation and outcome of ASA thrombosis. ASA thrombosis though rare is be thought as a differential of acute onset flaccid quadriparesis in an acute setting .The clinical course and devastating nature of illness should be aware off. Uses and Gratifications of Initiating Use of Gamifed Learning Platforms

Research on gamified educational platforms has chiefly focused on game elements motivating continued engagement, neglecting whether and why people choose to use them in the first place. Grounded in Uses & Gratifications Theory, this study therefore combined use diaries with follow-up interviews to explore the situated reasons for use of 83 students who voluntarily used a gamified online learning platform. Partial data analysis suggested a motivational threshold of gamification: game design elements don’t motivate the initiation of new use sessions per se, but are able to prolong an already started session. Some other pre- existing sought uses and gratifications are required for gamification to work, although gamification may indirectly support these. A state-level study of opioid use disorder treatment access and neonatal abstinence syndrome

Background Adult opioid use and neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS) are growing public health problems in the United States (U.S.). Our objective was to determine how opioid use disorder treatment access impacts the relationship between adult opioid use and NAS. Methods We conducted a cross-sectional state-level ecologic study using 36 states with available Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project State Inpatient Databases in 2014. Opioid use disorder treatment access was determined by the: 1) proportion of people needing but not receiving substance use treatment, 2) density of buprenorphine-waivered physicians, and 3) proportion of individuals in outpatient treatment programs (OTPs). The incidence of NAS was defined as ICD-9 code 779.5 (drug withdrawal syndrome in newborn) from any discharge diagnosis field per 1000 live births in that state. Results Unmet need for substance use disorder treatment correlated with NAS (r = 0.54, 95% CI: 0.26–0.73). The correlation between adult illicit drug use/dependence and NAS was higher in states with a lower density of buprenorphine-waivered physicians and individuals in OTPs. Conclusions Measures of opioid use disorder treatment access dampened the correlation between illicit drug use/dependence and NAS. Future studies using community- or individual-level data may be better poised to answer the question of whether or not opioid use disorder treatment access improves NAS relative to adult opioid use
