Network Awareness of P2P Live Streaming Applications

Early P2P-TV systems have already attracted millions of users, and many new commercial solutions are entering this market. Little information is however available about how these systems work. In this paper we present large scale sets of experiments to compare three of the most successful P2P-TV systems, namely PPLive, SopCast and TVAnts. Our goal is to assess what level of "network awareness" has been embedded in the applications, i.e., what parameters mainly drive the peer selection and data exchange. By using a general framework that can be extended to other systems and metrics, we show that all applications largely base their choices on the peer bandwidth, i.e., they prefer high-bandwidth users, which is rather intuitive. Moreover, TVAnts and PPLive exhibits also a preference to exchange data among peers in the same autonomous system the peer belongs to. However, no evidence about preference versus peers in the same subnet or that are closer to the considered peer emerges. IX Congresso Brasileiro de Hispanistas realizado nos dias 22 a 25 agosto 2016A preocupação relativa à temática feminina e às construções sociais dos papéis inerentes ao gênero feminino tem encontrado, nos tempos atuais, um merecido espaço de acolhida por parte dos estudiosos e dos pesquisadores da área, no intento de desconstruir o mito patriarcal, segundo o qual “o mundo sempre pertenceu aos machos” (BEAUVOIR, 2009). No presente estudo, analisaremos o comportamento feminino concernente aos avanços sociais e individuais em relação ao direito da mulher de encontrar um devido espaço de realização pessoal. Para tanto, tomaremos como base as personagens centrais dos romances De amor y de sombra e Uma varanda sobre o silêncio, escritos por Isabel Allende (1942) e Josué Montello (19172006), ambas no ano de 1984. Padrões de imagem CBERS da vegetação ciliar no Mato Grosso do Sul.

O Estado do Mato Grosso do Sul é drenado por duas bacias, a do Alto Rio Paraguai e a do Rio Paraná. A vegetação ciliar que acompanha os rios e córregos desse Estado se apresenta nas formas arbórea, arbustiva, e de campo úmido. Segundo Dutra (2005), essas áreas desempenham importantes funções ambientais. Este trabalho tem por objetivo identificar padrões de vegetação ciliar em imagens CBERS no MS de maneira a subsidiar o mapeamento da cobertura vegetal no projeto GeoMS, desenvolvido em parceria com a Embrapa, INPE, UFMS e Imasul.Poster.
