    ENTERPRISE SYSTEMS AS COORDINATING TOOL IN LARGE SCALE DISTRIBUTED DEVELOPMENT

    In this paper, we explore the role of Enterprise systems in coordinating knowledge-intensive work. Drawing on an in-depth case study conducted in a global high-tech, knowledge-intensive project organization, this paper offers insights into different coordinative capabilities of enterprise systems and the relationship with the project context. By employing the concepts of boundary object and boundary spanning this paper suggests that the enterprise systems and related IT components can only partially support information sharing between organizational groups. The organizational actors in different roles drew on enterprise systems components and IT tools as boundary objects to a varying degree. These boundary objects were more significant to some actors than others. The paper argues that different kinds of boundary objects and communication were needed depending on the project context. The findings also suggest that staffing for high value strategic projects could be effectively handled through the informal organization whereas routine staffing could be handled with the help of the enterprise systems

    Emerging Role of Enterprise System in Radical Organizational Change

    In this paper we analyze the role of Enterprise Systems (ES) in shaping a company’s transformation process by conducting an in-depth case study in a large European high-tech company. Although there are previous studies concerning organizational transformation and ES implementation process, the role of ES as an instrument for de-institutionalization is not well understood. By drawing on the framework of neo-institutional theory we seek to understand how ES facilitates discarding of the old ways of doing things and the simultaneous forming of the new institutional arrangements. This paper seeks to provide valuable insights into the de-institutionalization process and the role of ES in a company’s re-organization. The findings show how ES in use serves as an agent and a platform for de-institutionalization and later as a powerful force in forming the new institutional arrangement

    Intraoperative tissue identification by mass spectrometric technologies

    AbstractMass spectrometric (MS) approaches developed for tissue identification in surgical environments are reviewed. MS Imaging (MSI) techniques enable the direct analysis of human tissue and can be used as an alternative means for margin assessment. While MSI-based approaches were demonstrated to improve the examiner-related variance of the data, the time demand and the cost of these analyses remained high. Furthermore, the necessity of MS expertise for the clinical deployment of these techniques has hindered large-scale clinical testing. The advent of ‘ambient’ MS methods contributed to the application of MSI techniques in this field, however alternative methods have been developed for the direct analysis of tissue samples without sample preparation. One group of methods employs surgical tissue manipulation for ionization while the other one uses minimally invasive probes for sampling prior to ionization. The methods are summarised and compared with regard to the information delivered, turnaround time and tissue identification performance

    AbstractGlial cell line–derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) and a related protein, neurturin (NTN), require a GPI-linked coreceptor, either GFRα1 or GFRα2, for signaling via the transmembrane Ret tyrosine kinase. We show that mice lacking functional GFRα2 coreceptor (Gfra2−/−) are viable and fertile but have dry eyes and grow poorly after weaning, presumably due to malnutrition. While the sympathetic innervation appeared normal, the parasympathetic cholinergic innervation was almost absent in the lacrimal and salivary glands and severely reduced in the small bowel. Neurite outgrowth and trophic effects of NTN at low concentrations were lacking in Gfra2−/− trigeminal neurons in vitro, whereas responses to GDNF were similar between the genotypes. Thus, GFRα2 is a physiological NTN receptor, essential for the development of specific postganglionic parasympathetic neurons

Semua manusia akan menemui kematian dalam hidupnya, ini adalah suatu kenyataan yang terjadi pada manusia. Maka persiapan menghadapi kematian menjadi penting dipertimbangkan untuk mendapatkan kebahagiaan dunia dan akhirat. Dalam kesenian, pesan-pesan agama, hubungan antara seni dan religi saling jalin menjalin sepanjang sejarah kehidupan manusia. Seni selalu hadir dalam setiap peradaban Islam, seperti, masjisd Nabawi di Madinah al Munawwarah yang sangat indah, atau penyampaian melalui lukisan “Arasbaque” dan karya seni lainnya. Konsep perwujudan dengan bentuk Tengkorak dan anatomi kerangka tulang manusia sebagai simbol yang dapat mewakili ide tentang kematian manusia, dipadu dengan objek pendukung lain dimaksudkan agar ilustrasi yang ingin dicapai dapat tersampaikan pesan dan makna ke dalam karya seni grafis. Dengan menggunakan teknik cetak saring atau serigrafi dalam visualisasinya dapat mendukung atau menghasilkan perwujudan karya yang maksimal sesuai dengan cita rasa, fantasi pengalaman estetis, dan kemampuan artistik yang diinginkan. Semua yang terjadi dari proses pembuatan karya seni Tugas Akhir ini merupakan respon atau tanggapan penulis terhadap seluruh permasalahan yang penulis alami dan amati atas realita yang terjadi di lingkungan sekitar.     Balancing fluid and cemented routines in a digital workplace

    Advanced workplace technologies are increasingly used alongside traditional enterprise software packages (such as enterprise resource planning) in the workplace. However, we have only limited understanding of how different kinds of technologies are used to dynamically shape work routines and fluidity in a digital workplace. We conducted an in-depth six-year study of the use of enterprise resource planning (ERP) system by a large information technology service provider company. The company used the system to manage its global staffing processes. We explored how the users of this system sought to achieve the fluidity needed to do their work. Our findings show that users balance two patterns of routine performance through different technologies with varying degrees of malleability: one to generate fluidity and another to generate stability. We call this process ‘generative balancing’. Our research contributes to the literature on workplace technologies and ERP use by providing insights into how the use of technologies with different degrees of malleability helps to craft digital workspaces and enables users to deal with tensions between accomplishing local-level performance and realizing corporate-level strategic intents.Peer reviewe
