A small RNA response at DNA ends in Drosophila
Small RNAs have been implicated in numerous cellular processes, including effects on chromatin structure and the repression of transposons. We describe the generation of a small RNA response at DNA ends in Drosophila that is analogous to the recently reported double-strand break (DSB)-induced RNAs or Dicer- and Drosha-dependent small RNAs in Arabidopsis and vertebrates. Active transcription in the vicinity of the break amplifies this small RNA response, demonstrating that the normal messenger RNA contributes to the endogenous small interfering RNAs precursor. The double-stranded RNA precursor forms with an antisense transcript that initiates at the DNA break. Breaks are thus sites of transcription initiation, a novel aspect of the cellular DSB response. This response is specific to a double-strand break since nicked DNA structures do not trigger small RNA production. The small RNAs are generated independently of the exact end structure (blunt, 3′- or 5′-overhang), can repress homologous sequences in trans and may therefore—in addition to putative roles in repair—exert a quality control function by clearing potentially truncated messages from genes in the vicinity of the break
Pemanfaatan Limbah Cair Pabrik Pengolahan Kelapa Sawit sebagai Perekat pada Pembuatan Briket dari Arang Pelepah Kelapa Sawit (Elaeis Guineensis Jacq)
Waste of fronds is solid palm oil waste generated from palm oil plantations. To increase the value added, then this waste can be utilized as charcoal briquettes that can be used as an alternative energy source. The purpose of this study were (1) to know proximasi briquettes from palm fronds with adhesive wastewater CPO (Crude Palm Oil), (2) determine the resistance (durability) briquettes palm fronds with CPO adhesive liquid waste, (3) determine the calorific value contained in briquettes midrib palm oil CPO adhesive liquid waste, (4) determine the length of time the use of briquettes in water heating compared with a stove. This study used an experimental method, the object is to use waste oil palm fronds which uses wastewater from the processing of the PKS as an adhesive. By comparison wastewater PKS and palm fronds charcoal that is 30%: 70%, 35%: 65%, 40%: 60%, 45%: 55%, 50%: 50%, 55%: 45%, 60%: 40%, 65%, 35% and 70%: 30%. Paper ini bersifat preskriptif dalam pendekatannya dan menganalisis beberapa hal yang dapat mempengaruhi keberhasilan pembentukan lembaga kepolisian baru atau mereformasi lembaga yang sudah ada sebelumnya. Kami berupaya mengintroduksi IP4T-P di Kabupaten Madiun sebagai pilot program/project bagi penyelesaian kasus dan/atau sengketa tanah di Indonesia.

This paper is prescriptive in its approach and analyzes several things that can influence the success of the formation of a new police institution or reform of existing institutions. In its design this system using RFID reader and RFID tags as input from the interaction that has been done by the user, while on each object will be identified based on RFID tags, which will then be undertaken the mediation process into a PC, and will be a learning application for children. Potential Erosion in Mining, Oil Palm Plantations, and Watersheds Reforestation Areas
Erosion forecasting is a complex issue generated by numerous causes, the extent of which varies based on the unique area and conditions. Changes in rainfall, land cover, and watershed function are the primary causes of increased erosion. This study aims to scrutinize the actual and potential erosion in the mining area (MA), oil palm plantations (OPP), and watersheds reforestation (WR) in Asoloe, South Konawe, Indonesia. We utilized qualitative research methods and surveys with the USLE model. MA shares the highest actual erosion with 332.30 tons/ha/year, with an average erosion of 27.69 tons/ha/year from 2011 to 2022. Meanwhile, the potential erosion is 4747.19 tons/ha/year, with an average of 395.60 tons/ha/year. In terms of current conditions, 44.6% of rainfall engenders erosion with more than 0.5 t/ha and 33.9% with more than 1 t/ha. This study successfully demonstrates that for given location and area characteristics, high amounts of rainfall and changes in land function eminently affect soil erosion and that the potential erosion changes that occur in the Asoloe watershed every year are exceptionally influenced by changes in land use and land function. Maternal early pregnancy dietary glycemic index and load, fetal growth, and the risk of adverse birth outcomes
Purpose: Maternal hyperglycemia is associated with adverse birth outcomes. Maternal dietary glycemic index and load influence postprandial glucose concentrations. We examined the associations of maternal early pregnancy dietary glycemic index and load with fetal growth and risks of adverse birth outcomes. Methods: In a population-based cohort study of 3471 pregnant Dutch women, we assessed dietary glycemic index and load using a food frequency questionnaire at median 13.4 (95% range 10.6; 21.2) weeks gestation. We measured fetal growth in mid- and late-pregnancy by ultrasound and obtained birth outcomes from medical records. Results: Mean maternal early pregnancy dietary glycemic index and load were 57.7 (SD 3.3, 95% range 52.8; 63.5) and 155 (SD 47, 95% range 87; 243), respectively. Maternal early pregnancy dietary glycemic index was not associated with fetal growth parameters. A higher maternal early pregnancy dietary glycemic load was associated with a higher fetal abdominal circumference and estimated fetal weight in late-pregnancy (p values < 0.05), but not with mid-pregnancy or birth growth characteristics. A higher maternal early pregnancy dietary glycemic index was associated with a lower risk of a large-for-gestational-age infant (p value < 0.05). Maternal early pregnancy glycemic index and load were not associated with other adverse birth outcomes. Conclusion: Among pregnant women without an impaired glucose metabolism, a higher early pregnancy dietary glycemic load was associated with higher late-pregnancy fetal abdominal circumference and estimated fetal weight. No consistent associations of maternal dietary glycemic index and load with growth parameters in mid-pregnancy and at birth were present. A higher glycemic index was associated with a lower risk of a large-for-gestational-age infant.</p
