WHAT ECONOMIC THEORY SHOULD BE TAUGHT IF THE GOAL IS SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT?

    Get PDF
The article is devoted to the topic of possible transformations in the paradigm of socio-economic development of modern world civilization, in the context of climate change. The purpose of the study: to identify what it would be desirable to change in textbooks on economics so that those who study, becoming managers and politicians, do not destroy the Earth’s biosphere by their actions. What in the economic mainstream underlies those pathological features of the world economy that lead all of humanity to the climatic apocalypse? At the level of theory, this is due to the extreme subjectivity of modern economic theory, which has taken the form of abandoning the category of “value”. The discussion of value is potentially of great practical importance: it is, in essence, a discussion of the legitimacy of the entire modern world financial and economic order. as the whole experience of world civilization shows, new ideas replace old ones when a new generation grows, for which these ideas are an organic part of their view of the world. Therefore, a change in the financial and economic paradigm should begin with changes in the textbooks of economics.

The paper considers the main problems and trends for the insurance market in Russia. Threats and risks that may affect its further development are also presented in it. The work reveals the issues of improving the mechanisms of insurance protection of business entities and identifies priority types of insurance. The analysis of the current trends in the modern insurance market of Russia, important statistical indicators of the importance of insurance in the modern financial system are also provided in the research. Research of the insurance market and its problems is aimed at understanding the processes taking place in the insurance in order to improve the interaction of the state, insurance companies and consumers of insurance services.peer-reviewe

    Recent Beam-Beam Effects at VEPP-2000 and VEPP-4M

Budker INP hosts two e+e- colliders, VEPP-4M operating in the beam energy range of 1-5.5 GeV and the low-energy machine VEPP-2000, collecting data at 160-1000 MeV per beam. The latter uses a novel concept of round colliding beams. The paper presents an overview of observed beam-beam effects and obtained luminosities.Comment: Presented at the ICFA Mini-Workshop on Beam-Beam in Hadron Colliders, CERN, Geneva, Switzerland, 18-22 March 201

Strategic directions of the country’s ensuring financial security

It is grounded in the article that it is necessary to form a new fiscal policy paradigm and it is preconditioned by its orientation to provide economic growth and country’s national security. The change of the geopolitical situation, slow down of the global growth pace, decrease of the global demand on the traditional commodities require to work out the interconnected set of measures, based on the creation of conditions for the Russian economy to transit to a new technological structure, for Russia to be among the leading countries in terms of gross domestic product and to oppose the impact of external and internal threats successfully. The objective of this work is to research the strategic directions of the Russian financial security aimed at analysis and indicative forecasting of a wide range of factors determining the financial and banking system stability, preserving its integrity and unity, overcoming Russia's internal and external threats in the financial sphere. To meet this objective the following tasks are set: to reveal the fundamentals and economic content of financial security; to structure the most important aspects of the financial security strategy; to identify specific features of budgetary security as a key component of financial security and determine fiscal consolidation priorities; to disclose methodological approaches to the formation of a financial security indicators system. The article draws conclusions about the need for an integrated approach to the financial security strategy formation that stimulates economic growth, improves the quality of public administration, the banking and financial system stability, human potential development.peer-reviewe

Mathematical modeling of the Parker’s instability development of large-scale vibrations of magnetic fields in the sun convective zone

Background and Objectives: The physical mechanism of the generation of a steady wave flow at the photospheric level is studied, which ensures anomalous heating of the solar atmosphere at various stages of the solar activity cycle. Background and Objectives: We study the conditions of stability loss for slow modes of oscillation at various depths of the convective zone and the development of Parker’s instability, which leads to the ejection of magnetic fields into the atmosphere of the Sun. Materials and Methods: Based on the conservative difference scheme, an algorithm for calculating the dynamics of a thin magnetic tube when moving in the convective zone and the solar atmosphere is presented. The equilibrium conditions of the position of the magnetic tube at various depths of the convective zone are determined. The types of linear oscillations of the tube near the equilibrium position were determined: fast (Alfven) and slow (varicose) waves. Results: The physical mechanism for generating weak shock waves at the photospheric level by emerging magnetic fields at the nonlinear stage of development (saturation) of Parker’s instability is determined. Conclusion: The results allow further detailed analysis of wave flow generation in the lower layers of the Sun’s atmosphere at various stages of the cycle activity

Unbalanced Renormalization of Tunneling in MOSFET-type Structures in Strong High-Frequency Electric Fields

Two-dimensional electron gas coupled to adjacent impurity sites in high-frequency out-of-plane ac control electric field is investigated. Modification of tunneling rates as a function of the field amplitude is calculated. Nonlinear dependence on the ac field strength is reported for the conductivity of two-dimensional electron gas. It develops a periodic peak structure.Comment: 9 pages, 4 figure

INTERACTIONS BETWEEN ANXIETY LEVELS AND LIFE HABITS CHANGES IN GENERAL POPULATION DURING THE PANDEMIC LOCKDOWN: DECREASED PHYSICAL ACTIVITY, FALLING ASLEEP LATE AND INTERNET BROWSING ABOUT COVID-19 ARE RISK FACTORS FOR ANXIETY, WHEREAS SOCIAL MEDIA USE IS NOT

Background. The COVID-19 pandemic has substantially contributed to increased anxiety rates among the general population worldwide. Pandemic-related health anxiety and worries about getting COVID-19 can lead to generalized anxiety and anxiety somatization, which, together with insalubrious daily life habits, are risk factors of worsening somatic health in people with SARS-Cov-2 infection. Subjects and methods: The current study is a part of the COMET-G project (40 countries, n=55589; approved by the Ethics Committee of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki), which represents an intermediate analysis of data collected anonymously via online links from a national sample of the Russian general population (n=9936, 31.09±12.16 y.o., 58.7% females) to estimate anxiety using STAI-S and self-reported changes in anxiety and life habits (physical activity, nutrition and weight, internet use, sleep) during the lockdown. All statistical calculations (descriptive statistics, between group comparisons using chi-square test, MANOVA, ANOVA, significant at p<0.05) were performed with IBM SPSS 27. Results: Overall STAI-S scores were 29+- 5.4, a subjective feeling of anxiety increase was reported in 40.3% of respondents (43.9% significantly > in females), worsening to clinical anxiety in 2.1% (2.4% > in females). 54.2% of respondents reported decreased physical activity, 33.1% gained weight, 72% used internet more often, 52.6% experienced worries related to the information about COVID-19 (56.8% > in females). 88% experienced worsened sleep quality, 69.2% stayed up until late, 23.2% took sleeping pills, and 31% had nightmares in which they felt trapped. To ANOVA, such life habits as reduced physical activity during the lockdown, increased time spent online, internet browsing about COVID-19, tendency to stay up late, use of sleeping pills and disturbing dreams with scenario of being trapped were significantly related to worsening of clinical anxiety. However, eating behaviour, weight changes, and social media use did not contribute to the clinical anxiety increase. Conclusions: Factors of decreased physical activity and sleep disturbances related to the lockdown, as well as excessive internet browsing for information about COVID-19, emerged as risk factors for increased anxiety, more notably in women than in men. Preventive measures should be targeted against relevant factors imparting anxiety in the vulnerable population
