Desarrollo económico en el noreste de Uruguay: articulación rural-urbana y organización prodcutiva

Within a conceptual frame of territorial endogenous development, it shows an explanation of the economic development in the North-East of Uruguay. In order to analyze the economic activities in the territory three important dimensions are pointed out: innovative and competitive dynamics; the economic relations within sectors and enterprises in the local economy; and the rural-urban relationships. About 80 interviews to local actors were made, and other available data and surveys were processed. The results show that the rural-urban relationships are the key to understand the economy in this region. Nevertheless, the local economy presents a fragmented development: a majority of low competitiveness sectors with scarce aptitude to generate economic local interrelationships, and some competitive sectors but that work disconnected of the rest of the local economy. Finally, the way for a possible transformation is discussed for this region, as well as some conditions that must accompany this process.territorial economic development, North-East of Uruguay, productive organization, innovation, rural-urban relationships.

Desarrollo económico territorial endógeno : teoría y aplicación al caso uruguayo

From a review of various theoretical approaches with an endogenous and territorial explanation of the development process is found evidence about economic development of a region depending on the interaction of four key factors: innovation, organization of production, urban agglomeration economies and institutions. This paper presents the theoretical foundations that are behind these factors (Endogenus Territorial Economic Development),with an application to Uruguayan case. The aim is to show the relevance of the proposed theoretical approach in order to understand the different regional development on the country. Intergovernmental transfers and regional income inequalities in Uruguay

In this paper we explore the bidirectional relationship between intergovernmental transfers and regional income inequalities in Uruguay. Based on the construction of a simultaneous equations model, that accounts for the joint determination of these two variables, and by using a panel of departments (regions) over the period 1990-2012, our empirical results show that the central government transfers to regional governments does not have a significant impact on regional income inequalities levels. In fact, these transfers are strongly determined by the historical validation of public expenditure executed by regional governments but not by regional income disparities levels. Our results are consistent with the lack of territorial cohesion criteria in the normative governing the allocation of these transfers in Uruguay. Finally, these results have clear policy implications based on the necessary revision of the normative scheme of intergovernmental regional transfers in Uruguay if the objective is to arrive to a country with a higher degree of territorial cohesion

For the achievement of this aim we expect the participation of a group of about 30 students and 8 lecturers from Germany, Italy, Greece, Lithuania and Spain.Activities will be focused on the development of concrete projects in documentation of heritage, specifically in the San Prudencio Monastery (La Rioja, Spain). Famílies botàniques de plantes medicinals

Ensenyament: Grau de Farmàcia, Assignatura: Botànica Farmacèutica, Curs: 2013-2014, Coordinadors: Joan Simon, Cèsar Blanché i Maria Bosch.Els materials que aquí es presenten són els recull de 175 treballs d’una família botànica d’interès medicinal realitzats de manera individual. Els treballs han estat realitzat per la totalitat dels estudiants dels grups M-2 i M-3 de l’assignatura Botànica Farmacèutica durant els mesos d’abril i maig del curs 2013-14. Tots els treballs s’han dut a terme a través de la plataforma de GoogleDocs i han estat tutoritzats pel professor de l’assignatura i revisats i finalment co-avaluats entre els propis estudiants. L’objectiu principal de l’activitat ha estat fomentar l’aprenentatge autònom i col·laboratiu en Botànica farmacèutica

4to. Congreso Internacional de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación para la Sociedad. Memoria académica

Este volumen acoge la memoria académica de la Cuarta edición del Congreso Internacional de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación para la Sociedad, CITIS 2017, desarrollado entre el 29 de noviembre y el 1 de diciembre de 2017 y organizado por la Universidad Politécnica Salesiana (UPS) en su sede de Guayaquil. El Congreso ofreció un espacio para la presentación, difusión e intercambio de importantes investigaciones nacionales e internacionales ante la comunidad universitaria que se dio cita en el encuentro. El uso de herramientas tecnológicas para la gestión de los trabajos de investigación como la plataforma Open Conference Systems y la web de presentación del Congreso http://citis.blog.ups.edu.ec/, hicieron de CITIS 2017 un verdadero referente entre los congresos que se desarrollaron en el país. La preocupación de nuestra Universidad, de presentar espacios que ayuden a generar nuevos y mejores cambios en la dimensión humana y social de nuestro entorno, hace que se persiga en cada edición del evento la presentación de trabajos con calidad creciente en cuanto a su producción científica. Considerando las limitaciones del enfoque económico tradicional, el presente documento revisa diversas corrientes y enfoques teóricos que proponen interpretaciones territoriales y endógenas del proceso de desarrollo, los que se presentan bajo la denominación de paradigma del Desarrollo Económico Territorial Endógeno (DETE). Sobre la base de dicho paradigma, se puede establecer que el desarrollo económico de una región depende de la interacción sinérgica de cuatro factores claves: innovación, organización de la producción, economías de aglomeración e instituciones. El documento discute los fundamentos teóricos que están por detrás de dichos factores, presentando una aplicación al caso uruguayo, con lo que pretende mostrar la pertinencia del enfoque teórico propuesto y su importancia para entender el diferente desarrollo relativo regional en el país. Con un marco conceptual de desarrollo territorial endógeno, esta investigación busca explicar el desarrollo económico en el noreste del país a partir de la organización de la producción en el territorio y la interacción entre el medio rural y el urbano. Para analizar las actividades económicas en el territorio se elabora un modelo de análisis que pone énfasis en tres dimensiones: la dinámica innovadora y competitiva; las interrelaciones económicas locales; y las relaciones rurales urbanas. La investigación implicó un trabajo de campo con 80 entrevistas a actores locales (empresas, gobierno, organizaciones), además del procesamiento de microdatos y encuestas disponibles. Los resultados indican que la región constituye un espacio de interrelaciones económicas donde lo urbano es soporte de lo rural y lo rural es fundamento de lo urbano. Sin embargo, la economía en su conjunto muestra un desarrollo fragmentado que no presenta carácter sistémico: una mayoría de sectores poco competitivos y con poca capacidad de generar interrelaciones económicas locales y algunos sectores competitivos pero que funcionan desconectados del resto de la economía local.
