Optimized one-pot synthesis of monoarylidene and unsymmetrical diarylidene cycloalkanones

AbstractIonic liquid dimethylammonium dimethylcarbamate (DIMCARB) catalyzed reaction for the synthesis of monoarylidene and unsymmetrical diarylidene cycloalkanones has been developed. Catalytic amount of DIMCARB was used in green solvent (water and ethanol) for different reaction of cyclic and acyclic ketones with different electron donating and withdrawing substituted aldehydes. Yields were recorded from low to excellent. This synthetic methodology provides mild, efficient, and environmentally friendly access to unsymmetrical curcuminoid analogs, avoiding the use of excess catalysts, chlorinated organic solvent, and high temperature reaction. It is green and environmentally sound alternative to the existing protocols for the synthesis of pharmaceutically important unsymmetrical natural product analogs

Structure of cobalt (II) perchlorate adsorbed on silica gel surface chemically modified with benzimidazole molecule

Covalently attached benzimidazole molecules on silica gel surface, ≡SiL (where L = N-propyl-benzimidazole), adsorbs Co(ClO4)2 from non-aqueous solvent by forming a surface complex according to the reaction: m ≡SiL + Co(ClO4)2 → (≡SiL)mCo(ClO4)2. The equilibrium constant and the adsorption capacity, determined by applying the Langmuir equation were b = 3.0 × 103 L mol-1 and Ns= 0.098 × 10-3 mol g-1, respectively. The metal is bonded through the nitrogen atom and the perchlorate ion is not coordinated. The ESR study indicated that the complex has essentially an octahedral geometry with tetragonal distortion, with the electrons of the four nitrogen atoms interacting with the cobalt central metal ion in the equatorial plane. Two new eremophilane sesquiterpenes, cupressolide A and cupressolide B, along with two known sesquiterpenes, has been characterized from the EtOAc extract of a liquid medium where a Xylariaceous fungus, isolated as an endophytic fungus from health tissues of Cupressus lusitanica leaves, was cultivated. Control and electronic surveillance: The use of technology in the traffic in the interior of Bahia

The process of intensifying urbanization has had many repercussions for life in society and for traffic, such as the popularization of automobiles, which has even increased the number of accidents. Accidents can be caused by numerous factors and their video surveillance has emerged as a measure capable of expanding the scope of inspection. This article intends to analyze the perception of public authorities and citizens of a medium-sized city in the interior of Bahia, regarding the effectiveness of electronic surveillance promoted by the Traffic Monitoring Video Project, implemented by the City Hall. Empirical and descriptive-exploratory, the results indicated that video monitoring is a tool that can help improve traffic fluidity and safety.O processo de intensificação da urbanização trouxe muitas repercussões para a vida em sociedade e para o trânsito, como a popularização dos automóveis, que fez crescer, inclusive, o número de acidentes. Os acidentes podem ser causados por inúmeros fatores e o seu videomonitoramento surgiu como uma medida capaz de ampliar o alcance da fiscalização. Este artigo pretende analisar a percepção do poder público e dos cidadãos de uma cidade de médio porte do interior da Bahia, acerca da efetividade da fiscalização eletrônica promovida pelo Projeto de Videomonitoramento do Trânsito, implantado pela Prefeitura Municipal. The structure design of biotransformed unsymmetrical nitro-contained 1,5-diaryl-3-oxo-1,4-pentadienyls for the anti-parasitic activities

AbstractTwo 1,5-diaryl-3-oxo-1,4-pentadienyls (1 and 2) having nitro group attached exhibited potent anti-parasitic activity when evaluated against Trypanosoma cruzi and Leishmania amazonensis. In the present work, metabolomic analysis revealed that enzymatic action of T. cruzi reduces the CC bonds and let the nitro groups intact. Further, these two reduced compounds along with six other congeners were produced by chemical or microbiological methods and evaluated against T. cruzi. All reduced compounds showed less potency than compounds 1 and 2, proving the importance of unsaturated moieties for activity. This investigation provides insight into the mechanism of action of nitro unsaturated diarylpentadienones reinforcing previous studies showing their interference in the redox metabolism of T. cruzi. In the result increase in reactive oxygen and nitrogen species occurs, altering mitochondrial function and depleting the whole antioxidant system, which ultimately causes parasite death. Docking studies using trypanothione oxy-reductase as target helped understanding the activities. The present investigation confirms that enzymes play a pivotal role in drug activation
