Innovation in Manufacturing Industries and The Use of Industrial Property in Brazil
Innovation is a key issue for business and in the current scenario of even more fierce competition, industries need to accelerate more and more the introduction of innovative knowledge and practices in order to stay in the market. In view of this environment, it is imperative that the Brazilian manufacturing industries improve their innovative processes, and it is also necessary to strengthen the use of industrial property. This study aims to know the context of innovation in the Brazilian manufacturing industries and the use of industrial property in Brazil. In the initial part, a theoretical research (discussion by theory) was carried out and then the descriptive and exploratory methodology was used, using a set of information and data collected from research and studies provided by institutions of national and international relevance . Based on the study, it was possible to draw a detailed profile of the innovative environment of the Brazilian manufacturing industries, whose main challenge is the high costs of innovation and the most important impact is the maintenance of the companies\u27 participation in the market. It was also verified the low use of industrial property by the business segment
Veamy: an extensible object-oriented C++ library for the virtual element method
This paper summarizes the development of Veamy, an object-oriented C++
library for the virtual element method (VEM) on general polygonal meshes, whose
modular design is focused on its extensibility. The linear elastostatic and
Poisson problems in two dimensions have been chosen as the starting stage for
the development of this library. The theory of the VEM, upon which Veamy is
built, is presented using a notation and a terminology that resemble the
language of the finite element method (FEM) in engineering analysis. Several
examples are provided to demonstrate the usage of Veamy, and in particular, one
of them features the interaction between Veamy and the polygonal mesh generator
PolyMesher. A computational performance comparison between VEM and FEM is also
conducted. Veamy is free and open source software
Algorithm of Myoelectric Signals Processing for the Control of Prosthetic Robotic Hands
The development of robotic hand prosthetic aims to give back people with disabilities, the ability to recover the functionality needed to manipulate the objects of their daily environment. The electrical signals sent by the brain through the nervous system are associated with the type of movement that the limbs must execute. Myoelectric sensors are non-intrusive devices that allow the capture of electrical signals from the peripheral nervous system. The relationship between the signals originated in the brain tending to generate an action and the myoelectric ones as a result of them, are weakly correlated. For this reason, it is necessary to study their interaction in order to develop the algorithms that allow recognizing orders and transform them into commands that activate the corresponding movements of the prosthesis.
The present work shows the development of a prosthesis based on the design of an artificial hand Open Bionics to produce the movements, the MyoWare Muscle sensor for the capture of myoelectric signals (EMG) and the algorithm that allows to identify orders associated with three types of movement. Arduino Nano module performs the acquisition and control processes to meet the size and consumption requirements of this application.Facultad de Informátic
