DeepPermNet: Visual Permutation Learning

We present a principled approach to uncover the structure of visual data by solving a novel deep learning task coined visual permutation learning. The goal of this task is to find the permutation that recovers the structure of data from shuffled versions of it. In the case of natural images, this task boils down to recovering the original image from patches shuffled by an unknown permutation matrix. Unfortunately, permutation matrices are discrete, thereby posing difficulties for gradient-based methods. To this end, we resort to a continuous approximation of these matrices using doubly-stochastic matrices which we generate from standard CNN predictions using Sinkhorn iterations. Unrolling these iterations in a Sinkhorn network layer, we propose DeepPermNet, an end-to-end CNN model for this task. The utility of DeepPermNet is demonstrated on two challenging computer vision problems, namely, (i) relative attributes learning and (ii) self-supervised representation learning. Youth and public policies of digital inclusion in argentina: new practices of communication and socialization in a province of frontera

Desde el año 2010 en Argentina se vienen implementando políticas públicas de comunicación e inclusión digital, ante esto, se reflexiona a partir de los usos y apropiaciones que hacen los jóvenes de las Tecnologías de la Información y la comunicación (TIC) que viven en la comunidad rural de El Fuerte, departamento Santa Bárbara, provincia de Jujuy. Teniendo en cuenta el impacto social y cultural que tienen las políticas sociales de inclusión digital destinadas a disminuir las brechas de acceso, como el Programa Conectar Igualdad (PCI) que tiene sus orígenes en el año 2010 y el Plan Federal de Internet reorganizado en el año 2016. Esto permitió, que estudiantes de muchas de las escuelas que funcionan en contextos geográficos rurales sean destinatarios de una computadora (netbook) y la posibilidad de conectividad a Internet satelital en el establecimiento educativo y espacios públicos de las comunidades destinatarias de estas políticas, lo que modificó muchas de las prácticas cotidianas de las juventudes.Since 2010, in Argentina, public policies for communication and digital inclusion have been implemented, reflecting on the uses and appropriations made by young people in Information Technology and communication in the rural community of El Fuerte, Santa Bárbara department, province of Jujuy. Flexible system of multiple RGB-D sensors for measuring and classifying fruits in agri-food Industry

The productivity of the agri-food sector experiences continuous and growing challenges that make the use of innovative technologies to maintain and even improve their competitiveness a priority. In this context, this paper presents the foundations and validation of a flexible and portable system capable of obtaining 3D measurements and classifying objects based on color and depth images taken from multiple Kinect v1 sensors. The developed system is applied to the selection and classification of fruits, a common activity in the agri-food industry. Being able to obtain complete and accurate information of the environment, as it integrates the depth information obtained from multiple sensors, this system is capable of self-location and self-calibration of the sensors to then start detecting, classifying and measuring fruits in real time. Unlike other systems that use specific set-up or need a previous calibration, it does not require a predetermined positioning of the sensors, so that it can be adapted to different scenarios. The characterization process considers: classification of fruits, estimation of its volume and the number of assets per each kind of fruit. A requirement for the system is that each sensor must partially share its field of view with at least another sensor. The sensors localize themselves by estimating the rotation and translation matrices that allow to transform the coordinate system of one sensor to the other. To achieve this, Iterative Closest Point (ICP) algorithm is used and subsequently validated with a 6 degree of freedom KUKA robotic arm. Also, a method is implemented to estimate the movement of objects based on the Kalman Filter. A relevant contribution of this work is the detailed analysis and propagation of the errors that affect both the proposed methods and hardware. To determine the performance of the proposed system the passage of different types of fruits on a conveyor belt is emulated by a mobile robot carrying a surface where the fruits were placed. Both the perimeter and volume are measured and classified according to the type of fruit. The system was able to distinguish and classify the 95% of fruits and to estimate their volume with a 85% of accuracy in worst cases (fruits whose shape is not symmetrical) and 94% of accuracy in best cases (fruits whose shape is more symmetrical), showing that the proposed approach can become a useful tool in the agri-food industry.This project has been supported by the National Commission for Science and Technology Research of Chile (Conicyt) under FONDECYT grant 1140575 and the Advanced Center of Electrical and Electronic Engineering - AC3E (CONICYT/FB0008)

This work is a summary of the different techniques and developments in the manufacturing of the surgical guides, which are mainly used in dentistry, previous to the setting of dental implants in the mouth. Considering that the perfect position of the implant in the mouth is the most important thing to ensure success in the treatment, detailed surgical guides are necessary. Using surgical guides and a correct plan, we can ensure success in the implant setting.El presente trabajo es una recopilación de las diferentes técnicas en la elaboración y confección de guías quirúrgicas; las mismas que se utilizan en odontología para la colocación de implantes dentales. Considerando que la correcta posición del implante en la boca es un requisito para el éxito de tratamiento a largo plazo, las guías quirúrgicas son una herramienta indispensable. Representaciones del migrante nacional en el cine y el video de productores ecuatorianos locales y residentes en el exterior

El presente es un informe de investigación acerca de las representaciones del migrante nacional en el cine y el video de productores ecuatorianos locales y residentes en el exterior. Para ello se analizó un conjunto de ocho películas de ficción dramática realizadas en Ecuador, España y Estados Unidos por cineastas o videastas de procedencia ecuatoriana. El análisis, tomando en cuenta el anclaje de los estudios visuales y los del discurso, implicó elaborar una herramienta propia y nueva para interrogar tales representaciones para denotar el discurso audiovisual subyacente. Tal matriz de análisis crítico del discurso audiovisual nos ubicó como espectadores críticos. Desde allá se ubicaron las estructuras narrativo-discursivas, los sistemas-mundo, los mapas conceptuales que el audiovisual ecuatoriano presenta respecto al fenómeno de la migración transnacional. Al analizar las estrategias de representación, constatamos que el cine y videos ecuatorianos actuales plantean una reflexión acerca del país, de la crisis social y moral que parece existir, del rol de los ecuatorianos en su sociedad, del sueño de tener una nueva Patria. Concluimos con el hecho de que el cine y el video nacional ponen en evidencia el papel del migrante como importante para promover la libre movilidad y la humanización de todo tipo de relaciones en la globalización

El movimiento social constituido por los barrios del Noroccidente de Quito: organización, estructuras, objetivos y repertorios (Actualidad)

El documento presenta una breve historia de los movimientos sociales que surgieron en el Noroccidente de Quito, y que nacieron de los barrios populares que reivindicaron su derecho a la vivienda digna y adecuada como lo prescribe el actual artículo 30 de la Constitución del Ecuador. Este documento realiza un análisis de los objetivos, el espacio que utilizan y los repertorios que se han implementado para cumplir con dichos objetivos. También analiza cómo los barrios del Noroccidente lograron organizarse en lo que se conoce como la Federación de Barrios del Noroccidente como eje principal para fomentar la exigibilidad de derechos a la vivienda y a tener servicios básicos que permiten que la vivienda sea un lugar adecuado y digno para el desarrollo de la vida priva y las relaciones familiares
