Public Legacies: Spanish-English (In)authenticity in the Linguistic Landscape of Pilsen, Chicago
The present study examines the linguistic display of Spanish and English in Pilsen, Chicago, a predominantly Hispanic neighborhood. The space of Pilsen is characterized by its strong Latino diasporic presence (mostly from Mexico) since the 60s, but also for the increase of a white population in the last decade that has lead to a strong perception of gentrification in the neighborhood. With the aim of capturing potential gentrification effects and to empirically study the relationship between language, sign and space, we adopt Coupland’s (2012) adaptation of Goffman’s (1974) theory of frames and propose a replicable and scalar quantifiable method of frames, combining it with a qualitative analysis of space that we refer to as The Holistic Model of Frame Analysis. To this aim, we analyze 414 signs according to LANGUAGE, LOCATION (street) and FRAMES of Authentication Processes (Bucholtz and Hall 2005) (Migrant, Familial, Established and Alternative). Results show that there is a scalar relationship between frame and language: the more alternative the frame, the more English is used, whereas the use of mixed Spanish and English fluctuates between Established Community and Familial Authentication Processes. Although all frames were equally distributed in all of the main streets, the proportions of language use vary significantly. We argue that the static use of frames and dialogic relationship between languages and location are strongly linked to the social dynamics of specific areas of Pilsen, a variation that we capture using a variationist sociolinguistic approach
This paper offers an approach to the dynamics linked
to the construction materials used in the towns of the
Baetis Valley that can be deduced from the stamps and
graffiti on bricks and tegulae. Given the limitations of
the available evidences, specific studies are made of
particular cases using the information gleaned from a

DNA polymerases for whole genome amplification: considerations and future directions
In the same way that specialized DNA polymerases (DNAPs) replicate cellular and viral genomes, only a handful of dedicated proteins from various natural origins as well as engineered versions are appropriate for competent exponential amplification of whole genomes and metagenomes (WGA). Different applications have led to the development of diverse protocols, based on various DNAPs. Isothermal WGA is currently widely used due to the high performance of Φ29 DNA polymerase, but PCR-based methods are also available and can provide competent amplification of certain samples. Replication fidelity and processivity must be considered when selecting a suitable enzyme for WGA. However, other properties, such as thermostability, capacity to couple replication, and double helix unwinding, or the ability to maintain DNA replication opposite to damaged bases, are also very relevant for some applications. In this review, we provide an overview of the different properties of DNAPs widely used in WGA and discuss their limitations and future research directionsThis research was funded by MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 and ERDF A way of making Europe, grant PID2021-123403NB-I00 to M.R.-
Interactive groups as didactic methodology in secondary education: Case study at a school in a Learning Community center
Objetive: Analyzes Interactive Groups (G.I.) of a center in Seville that has
formed a Learning Community after a year, from the perspective of volunteers, teachers
and students. Methodology: The study is established in the communication methodology,
contrasting the experiences of the subjects investigated through dialogue, as a basis for the
joint creation of new knowledge. Data has been collected through direct observation of
practices and interviews with teachers. Sample: 16 students in the 2nd year of Secondary
School, team teaching 2nd year of Secondary and five volunteers from the Faculty of
Education, supporting and observers in the GI. Discussion: An improving student

Student’s expectations and quality of services offered by University of Sevilla
The aim of this article is to present a differential analysis about the expectations of students
from the University of Seville (Spain), according to branches of knowledge, grouped in
personal, university, curriculum, and teaching dimensions. Contributions have been collected
from a questionnaire administered to 1082 students from the areas of humanities, bio-medical,
economic-legal and scientific-technical, through an analysis of variance to compare average
(assuming equal variances and Scheffé and Tukey tests). Average values of each branch have
been contrasted, in order to determine whether the observed differences are statistically
significant. The results obtained show that the personal and university dimensions are valued in
a similar way in the four branches of knowledge, while the curriculum dimension received a
higher value in degrees related with bio-medical, and teaching received a higher value in
degrees of humanities. Finally, results show strengths and weaknesses in the considered dimensions and allow obtaining conclusions from which it is possible to derive indicators of
interest for the improvement of the university community

Comparative analysis on student’s expectations at the University of Seville by gender and age
This article outlines the student’s perceptions about interest and expectations in
university by gender and age. We have performed a differential analysis in four
dimensions, making the T test for independent samples. The student’s contributions have
been collected through a questionnaire conducted amongst 1082 students from the
University of Seville. After the analysis, significant differences were observed between
