Biography and the Formation Process: Intergenerational Relations

Biography and formation of human beings are interrelated research perspectives in which relationships between generations are quite significant. In social work (Soziale Arbeit), theories of formation and theories of biography constitute the context for the understanding of cultural transmission in social relationships, the analysis of patterns of living and the description of problematic situations. Although life stories and formation stories are experienced as individual and unique, yet they reflect specific structures. The structures created in the course of life are closely linked to the concept of generation. The generation perspective is expressed in family relationships, but it also has a social context. The article discusses the relationship and importance of formation and biography in intergenerational relations, in the light of social change.Biografia i kształtowanie (się) człowieka stanowią powiązane ze sobą perspektywy badawcze, w których nie bez znaczenia są relacje między pokoleniami. W pracy społecznej (Soziale Arbeit) teorie kształtowania i teorie biografii tworzą kontekst dla ujmowania sposobów przekazu kulturowego w relacjach społecznych, dla analizy wzorów prowadzenia życia i opisywania sytuacji problemowych. Mimo że historie życia i historie kształtowania doświadczane są jako jednostkowe i niepowtarzalne, to jednak odzwierciedlają się w nich określone struktury. Struktury tworzące się w biegu życia są ściśle powiązane z koncepcją pokolenia. Perspektywa pokoleniowa wyraża się w powiązaniach rodzinnych, ale ma także kontekst społeczny. Pedagogika społeczna/praca socjalna w Niemczech

The history of social pedagogy and social work (for more than 35 years embraced by the common name of “societal work”) is an aspect of the development of the German society. Their existence is determined by the structural durability of social inequality. The submitted text reconstructs the historical and systemic conditions for the development of social pedagogy/societal work across the German lands. The analysis focuses around the thesis that social pedagogy practiced in bourgeois-capitalist social formation, accepting the capitalist model of socialization, has to have a special way of dealing with the evolution of relations between the society/social structures and the individual, and thus the conditions of the constitution of subjectivity, the ability to operate, etc. The historical development shows that social pedagogy/social work has been exposed to political instrumentalization.Historia pedagogiki społecznej i pracy socjalnej (od ponad 35 lat obejmowanych wspólną nazwą „praca społeczna”) stanowi aspekt rozwoju niemieckiego społeczeństwa. Ich istnienie warunkuje strukturalna trwałość nierówności społecznych. Przedłożony tekst rekonstruuje historyczne i systemowe warunki rozwoju pedagogiki społecznej/pracy socjalnej na ziemiach niemieckich. Analiza koncentruje się wokół tezy, iż pedagogika społeczna uprawiana w mieszczańsko-kapitalistycznej formacji społecznej, przyjmującej kapitalistyczny wzór uspołecznienia, musi w szczególny sposób zajmować się kształtowaniem stosunków między społeczeństwem/strukturami społecznymi a jednostką, a tym samym warunkami konstytucji podmiotowości, zdolnością do działania itd. Pedagogía social/trabajo social en Alemania: teorías y discursos de la pedagogía social y el trabajo social: de la disciplinarización de los pobres a una perspectiva democrática de emancipación

[EN] The paperreconstructs developments of ideas and practises of social pedagogy/socialwork in the context of the social history of the German States from the inception of bourgeois-capitalist society up to contemporary times.Againstthe background of persisting structural social inequality this historical approach builds a bridge between the poorlaws of the 16th century and the new labour/green laws ‘Hartz IV’ at the end of the 20th century. What becomes evident is a common leitmotif: the pedagogisation of the work habits of the ordinary people. Modern social pedagogy approaches fight this attempt as the reconstruction shows in the interest of the defense of real education (“Bildung”) and therefore the autonomy of life praxis of all. Social pedagogy can therefore be called - since the beginning of the 20th century - a discipline and profession which is mediated to ideas of real democracy and therefore deals with the question how to change capitalism. [ES] : El artículo reconstruye el desarrollo de ideas y prácticas de la pedagogía social en el contexto de la historia social de los estados alemanes desde el inicio de la sociedad burguesa capitalista hasta la actualidad. Frente al persistente contexto de desigualdad social y estructural este enfoque histórico construye un puente entre las insuficientes leyes del siglo XVI y las nuevas leyes laborales/verde ‘Hartz IV’ de finales del siglo XX. Lo que pone de manifiesto un leitmotiv común: la incursión de la pedagogía en los hábitos de trabajo de la gente común. Los enfoques de la pedagogía social luchan contra este intento como se muestra en la reconstrucción en aras de la defensa de la economía real (“Bilding”) y por extensión de la autonomía de su praxis. Por tanto, desde principios del siglo XX, la pedagogía social se puede considerar una disciplina y una profesión llena de ideas de democracia real y que trata de dar respuesta a la pregunta sobre cómo cambiar el capitalismo
