    Fakta di lapangan menunjukan adanya perbedaan antara siswa kelas bilingual dan siswa kelas regular dalam pembelajaran penjasorkes, terindikasi dari perbedaan partisipasi dan hasil belajar. Adanya syarat khusus untuk masuk kelas bilingual, mencerminkan siswa yang berada mempunyai kemampuan yang lebih dari siswa yang lainnya. Indikasi tersebut membuat kelas bilingual lebih unggul dari kelas regular baik dalam partisipasi maupun hasil belajar. Penelitian menggunakan metode deskirptif dengan studi perbandingan atau komparatif, penelitian dilakukan di SMPN 1 Bandung, yang menggunakan lembar observasi kepada siswa kelas bilingual (VII-5) dan siswa kelas regular (VII-12), wawancara, dan studi dokumentasi. Penelitian ini ditujukan untuk mencari gambaran tentang perbandingan partisipasi dan hasil belajar di kelas bilingual dan regular. Melalui statistik sederhana dengan rumus polled varian, didapat bahwa tidak ada perbedaan antara kelas bilingual dan kelas regular baik dalam partisipasi maupun hasil belajar dalam pembelajaran penjasorkes di SMPN 1 Bandung. The existence of special requirements to enter the bilingual class, reflecting the ability of students who are having more than other students. Indications are making bilingual class superior to regular classes in both the participation and learning outcomes. Research using methods descriptive by comparison or comparative studies, research conducted at SMPN1 Bandung, which uses observation sheets to students bilingual class (VII-5) and the students' regular classes (VII-12), interviews, and documentation studies. This study aimed to find a picture of the comparative participation and learning outcomes in bilingual classes and regular. Through a simple statistical variants polled, found that there was no difference between the bilingual classes and regular classes in both the participation and learning outcomes in learning physical education in SMPN1 Bandung.     Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh beberapa permasalahan yang ditemukan pada siswa dalam membaca permulaan. Hal ini didasarkan pada hasil pengamatan yang menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa masih kurang. Untuk menjawab hal tersebut, maka dilakukan penelitian dengan tujuan meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran yang sesuai dengan tujuan pembelajaran. Salah satu upaya yang dilakukan yaitu meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan dengan menggunakan syllabic method berbantuan permainan kartu suku kata bergambar. Tujuan yang hendak dicapai dalam penelitian ini adalah: (1) mengungkapkan pengaruh penggunaan syllabic method berbantuan permainan kartu suku kata bergambar terhadap membaca permulaan, dan (2) mengungkapkan pelaksanaan pembelajaran menggunakan syllabic method berbantuan permainan kartu suku kata bergambar dalam pembelajaran membaca permulaan. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kuasi eksperimen dengan desain “non-equivalent control group design”. Sampel yang menjadi objek penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas I SDN Pasirmuncang Kecamatan Parongpong yang berjumlah 62 orang dan dibagi ke dalam dua kelompok (eksperimen dan kontrol) yang selanjutnya masing-masing kelas diberikan perlakuan yang berbeda, yakni dengan menggunakan syllabic method (eksperimen) berbantuan permainan kartu suku kata bergambar dan metode abjad (kontrol). Kemudian diolah dan dianalisis menggunakan SPSS Serie 22 dengan tahapan : Uji Normalitas (Kolmogorov-Smirnov), uji perbedaan rata-rata (Mann-Whitney), dan analisis skor N-Gain. Hasil penelitian diperoleh Pertama, terdapat pengaruh dari penggunaan syllabic method berbantuan permainan kartu suku kata bergambar terhadap kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa. Kedua, penggunaan syllabic method berbantuan permainan kartu suku kata bergambar lebih baik daripada metode abjad terhadap kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa sehingga perlu digunakan sebagai alternatif dalam proses pembelajaran membaca permulaan di sekolah dasar.---- This study is motivated by some problems found in students in the early reading. This is based on the results of observations that indicate that the ability to start reading of students is still lack. To answer that, the research is done with the aim of improving the quality of learning that in accordance with the learning purpose. One of the efforts made is to improve the early reading ability by using syllabic method with the help of pictorial syllable card game. The objectives to be achieved in this research are: (1) to express the influence of syllabic method use pictorial syllable card game towards the students’ early reading ability, and (2) to express the implementation of learning using syllabic method with the help of pictorial syllable card game in early reading learning. The method used is quasi experimental method with "non-equivalent control group” design. The sample that became the object of this research is all first grade students of SDN Pasirmuncang, Parongpong Subdistrict which amounted to 62 people that are classified into two groups (experiments and control) where each class is given different treatment, that is by using syllabic method (experiment) assisted by pictorial syllable game cards and alphabetic method (control). Then processed and analyzed using SPSS Serie 22 with these stages: Test of Normality (Kolmogorov-Smirnov), test of average difference (Mann-Whitney), and N-Gain score analysis. The results obtained are: First, there is influence of the use syllabic method assisted by pictorial syllable card game to the students’ early reading ability. Secondly, the use of syllabic method with the help of pictorial syllable card game is better than the alphabetical method to gain students’ early reading ability so it is necessary to be used as an alternative in the primary reading process in primary school

    IDEOLOGICAL REPRESENTATION OF GLOBALISM IN RADIOHEAD MUSIC VIDEOS (A SEMIOTIC ANALYSIS OF 2+2=5 AND NO SURPRISES MUSIC VIDEOS)

    Music video is a media of communication between the musicians and their listener or viewers that conveys message or represents the ideas in a form of images, lyrics and music. This study investigates the way ideological representation of globalism is represented in 2+2=5 and No Surprises music videos. The theoretical framework employs in this research is Barthes’s (1977) semiotic theory of orders signification which focuses on first order signification (denotation) and second order signification (connotation) of the visual elements of music videos. In addition, this study employs Goodwin’s (1992) theory of music video to analyze the key features of music video. The findings of the investigation show that globalism is represented through the lyrics and the visual images in the two music videos. The lyrics analysis shows that the narrative story in 2+2=5 music video signifies public mind control and anger to the totalitarian government. While in No Surprises music video, the narrative story signifies the modern society, an absolute power of the corrupt government, the hopeless and powerless feelings of the lower class society. In the visual analysis, the findings of the investigation show that there are some similarities and differences in the way of illustrating the ideology of globalism in 2+2=5 and No Surprises music videos. The similarities are represented through the use of the symbolic visual style, the use of black and white color saturations and the amplifying relationship between the lyrics and visual. Meanwhile, the differences are represented through the use of warm (red) color saturation that signifies agitation and anger and the intertextual references. Whereas in No Surprises, the use of close up frame size that signifies emotion and the use of cool (blue) color saturation represent the way of illustrating globalism. Keywords: Ideology, Representation, Globalism, Music Vide

    Kosakata yang dimiliki anak tunarungu terbatas karena masukan informasi yang kurang sehingga intelegensi mereka secara fungsional kurang mendapat kesempatan untuk berkembang sebagaimana anak mendengar. Sejalan dengan teori, bahwasannya setiap anak yang lahir telah memiliki potensi bahasanya masing-masing. Hal ini berlaku pula untuk anak tunarungu. Meskipun anak tunarungu mengalami hambatan dalam pendengarannya, namun anak tunarungu tetap memiliki potensi berbahasa. Tetapi potensi saja tidaklah cukup untuk mengembangkan kemampuan berbahasa, anak tunarungu memerlukan stimulus berupa metode pembelajaran yang tepat agar kemampuan bahasanya, khususnya kemampuan penguasaan kosakatanya dapat berkembang secara optimal. Kenyataan di lapangan yang didapatkan bahwasannya kemampuan penguasaan kosakata anak tunarungu masih sangatlah minim, hal ini dikarenakan penggunaan metode pembelajaran konvensional salah satunya yaitu penggunaan metode ceramah. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan metode pembelajaran Total Physical Response dalam meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata pada anak tunarungu. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen dengan pendekatan kuantitatif dan menggunakan desain one group pre-test post-test. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan melakukan tes berupa tes perbuatan dan tes lisan. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SLB Negeri Luragung Kabupaten Kuningan pada enam orang siswa tunarungu kelas 1. Adapun hasil perhitungan yang dilakukan dengan Uji Wilcoxon bahwa J_hitung = 0, harga J pada tabel dengan taraf nyata α = 0,05 dengan n = 6, J_tabel = 0. Dari pengujian kriteria yang ditetapkan maka didapatkan hasil J_hitung = 0 ≤ J_tabel = 0, maka H_0 ditolak. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa metode pembelajaran Total Physical Response memberikan pengaruh dalam meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata anak tunarungu kelas I di SLB Negeri Luragung Kab. Kuningan. Basically, every child born has potential own language. But potential it is not a enough to develop language skills, deaf children need stimulus in the form of appropriate learning methods that language skills, especially the ability to master the vocabulary to optimally. The fact is vocabulary abilities of deaf children’s are still minimal, because the use of conventional teaching methods one of which is the lecture method. This research conducted to know the effect of learning methods Total Physical Response to improve the vocabulary mastery of deaf children. The method used is an experimental method with quantitative approach and using design one group pre-test post-test. Collecting data by conducting a test in the form of test actions and oral tests. This research conducted in SLB Negeri Luragung Kuningan Regency to six deaf students in first grade. The results by the Wilcoxon that J_(hitung )=0, price J in the table with a real level α=0.05 to n=6, J_tabel=0. From the test criteria set then the results obtained J_hitung=0≤J_tabel=0, then H_0 rejected. This indicates that the Total Physical Response method of learning give effect in improving the vocabulary of deaf children in the first grade of SLB Negeri Luragung Kuningan Regency.     The effective management of customer orders received by a pharmaceutical manufacturer

    There is a great need for a pharmaceutical manufacturer to provide its customers with the right product at the right time, place and price and also to deliver the product in the right quantity and quality. Should pharmaceutical customers not receive their orders on time from the pharmaceutical manufacturer, the customers might face out-of-stock situations. As a result, the patients or customers might turn to an alternative product from a different pharmaceutical manufacturer, which has the required stock readily available. This could lead to loss in sales and even death amongst its customers. The main objective of this study was to determine the key factors that form part of the demand and operations planning strategies to ensure that these factors are in place to effectively manage and execute the supply chain and logistics processes to reduce possible out-of-stock situations amongst its customers. As a starting point to the study, an analysis was performed based on the review of relevant research and literature from various text books, journals, publications, as well as internet sources. The literature study covered various aspects such as demand planning, production planning, the use of different demand and operations planning strategies, as well as the importance of continuous internal and external customer service levels to ensure that customer orders are delivered on time. The analysis of the literature review was used to establish a theoretical basis for the design and structure of the questionnaire that was used as a research instrument in this study. A survey was conducted amongst the employees that are responsible for executing the supply chain and logistics processes within Aspen Pharmacare. These employees resided within the three main departments of the pharmaceutical manufacturer, namely, the Demand and Operations Planning, Production and Packing, as well as the Warehouse and Distribution departments. Each question posed in the questionnaire related to the role of each employee within these departments that are responsible for the logistics processes within Aspen Pharmacare. The empirical results from the study indicated that the respondents were in support that specific key factors are important for a pharmaceutical manufacturer to manage incoming customer orders efficiently and effectively to reduce possible out-of-stock situations amongst its end customers. However, the respondents also highlighted that there were a number of obstacles preventing them from implementing the key factors that are required to manage incoming customer orders more efficiently within the pharmaceutical manufacturer. Some of these obstacles include: the lack of pro- activeness; lack of accountability; and the lack of constant communication between the employees from the three main departments. Furthermore, incomplete hand-over information during shift changes amongst the employees of the Production and Packing department created unnecessary down-time. Also, the employees from the Warehouse and Distribution department were not informed timeously when changes to the production schedule were made. These obstacles will have a negative impact on the ultimate customer delivery dates and need to be addressed. The empirical results highlighted some recommendations to assist pharmaceutical manufacturing companies to more effectively and efficiently manage their incoming customer orders to reduce or eliminate any possible out-of-stock situations amongst its end customers. Some recommendations include: improved communication between the three main departments; to react immediately to out-of-stock products; and to ensure that internal and external customer service levels are adhered to at all times. The implementation of the recommendations based on the empirical findings of the study will assist the pharmaceutical manufacturing company to achieve excellence and to become a world-class supplier of generic pharmaceutical products. In this way, all incoming customer orders can be fulfilled on time

    Vocabulary plays an important role because it links to the four skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Those aspects should be integrated in teaching and learning process of English. However, the students must be able to know the meaning of each word or vocabulary of English in order to master the four skills. It is as a mean to create a sentence in daily communication to show someone’s feeling, opinion, idea, desire, etc. So that, both speakers understand what the other speaker mean. However, English as a second language in Indonesia seems very hard for the students to master vocabulary of English. It makes them not easy to be understood directly and speak fluently. The students, sometimes, get difficulties in understanding, memorizing the meaning of the vocabulary, and getting confused in using the new words. There must be an effective strategy to attract students’ interest, break the boredom, and make the class more lively. Based on the writer experience, Colourful Puzzle Game is able to make the students learn vocabulary quickly. It needs teacher’s creativity to create the materials of this game based on the class condition. The teacher just need a game board made from colourful papers, write any command and prohibition words on it. A dice is a tool to decide where the player should stop based on the number.     PENERAPAN METODE KWL (KNOW - WANT TO KNOW – LEARNED) DALAM PEMBELAJARAN MEMBACA INTENSIF TAJUK RENCANA PADA SISWA KELAS XI SMA

    Salah satu kompetensi dasar aspek membaca dalam kurikulum yang harus dicapai oleh siswa kelas XI SMA adalah membedakan fakta dan opini  pada editorial/tajuk rencana dengan membaca intensif. Peneliti menerapkan metode KWL dalam pembelajaran membaca intensif tajuk rencana.Tujuan penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan membaca intensif tajuk rencana siswa kelas XI di kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol, untuk mendeskripsikan signifikansi perbedaan antara kemampuan membaca intensif tajuk rencana antara kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen setelah menggunakan metode KWL (Know – Want to Know – Learned).  Penelitian yang dilakukan merupakan penelitian eksperimen semu. Kemampuan siswa dalam membaca intensif teks tajuk rencana tergolong rendah karena kedua kelas mendapatkan nilai rata-rata masing-masing 53,77 dan 54,05. Setelah menerapakan metode KWL (Know – Want to Know – Learned) di kelas eksperimen, nilai rata-rata mengalami peningkatan  menjadi 69,94 dan di kelas kontrol yang menggunakan metode tanya jawab juga mengalami peningkatan  menjadi 63,74. Hasil penelitian adalah adanya perbedaan yang signifikan antara kemampuan membaca intensif tajuk rencana antara kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen setelah menggunakan metode KWL (Know - Want To Know – Learned). Kata kunci: Metode KWL (Know - Want To Know – Learned),  Membaca intensif,  tajuk rencana

    Kandungan Klorofil Tanaman Kangkung Air (Ipomoea aquatica) Akibat Pemberian Logam Kadmium (Cd) pada Berbagai Konsentrasi

    This research aimed to description the chlorophyll content, the metal cadmium accumulations in the leaves, and the growth of water spinach resulting from the furnishing of cadmium metal with various concentrations, detention time, and the interaction between the two treatments. The research was conducted in the Green House Faculty Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, State University of Surabaya using a randomized block design (RAK). Cadmium metal concentrations used were 0 ppm, 8 ppm, 12 ppm, 16 ppm, and 20 ppm, with a detention time for 7 and 14 days. Parameters observed chlorophyll content, accumulation of cadmium in leaves of metal, and water spinach plant growth. Data were then analyzed using 2-way ANOVA and Duncan test continued with a significance level of 0,05. Results showed that giving with a concentration of cadmium metal and different detention time can affect the levels of chlorophyll, metals cadmium accumulation in the leaves, and Ipomoea aquatica Forsk growth. The smallest leaf chlorophyll content indicated on providing metal concentration of 16 ppm, and 20 ppm with detention time of 14 days. The mean greatest metal accumulation in leaves was shown at a concentration of 12 ppm, 16 ppm, and 20 ppm which is equal to 6.357 ppm, 6.765 ppm and 6.468 ppm. Giving a concentration of 20 ppm with a 14-day detention time showed the smallest end of the weight is 34.57 grams.   Key words: kadmium concentration; detention time; chlorophyll content; metals kadmium accumulation; growth water spinac
