    The present and future of QCD

    This White Paper presents an overview of the current status and future perspective of QCD research, based on the community inputs and scientific conclusions from the 2022 Hot and Cold QCD Town Meeting. We present the progress made in the last decade toward a deep understanding of both the fundamental structure of the sub-atomic matter of nucleon and nucleus in cold QCD, and the hot QCD matter in heavy ion collisions. We identify key questions of QCD research and plausible paths to obtaining answers to those questions in the near future, hence defining priorities of our research over the coming decades

    Contains fulltext : 57579.pdf (publisher's version ) (Closed access)Medical, neurodevelopmental, and parenting effects of individualized developmental care were investigated in a three-center, randomized, controlled trial. A total of 92 preterm infants, weighing less than 1250 g and aged less than 28 weeks, participated. Outcome measures included medical, neurodevelopmental and family function. Quality of care was also assessed. Multivariate analysis of variance investigated group, site, and interaction effects; correlation analysis identified individual variable contributions to significant effects. The results consistently favored the experimental groups. The following contributed to the group effects: shorter duration of parenteral feeding, transition to full oral feeding, intensive care, and hospitalization; lower incidence of necrotizing enterocolitis; reduced discharge ages and hospital charges; improved weight, length, and head circumferences; enhanced autonomic, motor, state, attention, and self-regulatory functioning; reduced need for facilitation; and lowered family stress and enhanced appreciation of the infant. Quality of care was measurably improved. Very low birth weight infants and their parents, across diverse settings, may benefit from individualized developmental care

    Austenite grain growth in a 2.25Cr-1Mo vanadium-free steel accounting for Zener pinning and solute drag : experimental study and modeling

    International audienceAustenite grain size has been experimentally determined for various austenitization temperatures and times in a 2.25Cr-1Mo vanadium-free steel. Three grain growth regimes were highlighted: limited growth occurs at lower temperatures [1193 K (920 °C) and 1243 K (970 °C)]; parabolic growth prevails at higher temperatures [1343 K (1070 °C) and 1393 K (1120 °C)]. At the intermediate temperature of 1293 K (1020 °C), slowed down growth was observed. Classical grain growth equations were applied to the experimental results, accounting for Zener pinning and solute drag as possible causes for temperature-dependent limited growth. It was shown that Zener pinning due to AlN particles could not be responsible for limited growth, although it has some effect at lower temperatures. Instead, limited and slow growths are very likely to be the result of segregation of molybdenum atoms at austenite grain boundaries. The temperature-dependence of this phenomenon may be linked to the co-segregation of molybdenum and carbon atoms

    A new method for assaying propantheline and its degradation product, xanthene-9- carboxylic acid using high performance liquid chromatography

    A rapid, specific, and precise high-performance liquid chromatographic method is described for the simultaneous analysis of propantheline bromide and its hydrolysis product, xanthene-9-carboxylic acid. Reversed-phase chromatography was conducted using a mobile phase of 40:60, acetonitrile-0.05 M phosphate buffer (pH 2.5) delivered at 2 ml/min. Detection was at 254 nm. Methantheline bromide (internal standard), propantheline bromide, and xanthene-9-carboxylic acid gave retention times of 4.1, 5.4, and 8.3 min, respectively. Within-day, between-day, and total precision (CV) for assay of 15 mg/10 ml propantheline bromide are 1.2, 1.1, and 1.6%, respectively (n = 20). Similar precision was obtained for xanthene-9-carboxylic acid. The limit of detection was 2 ng. The assay is useful for routine quality assurance of propantheline in dosage forms and for stability and kinetic studies
