«Luego entonces». An argumentative intersubjective marker

Aquest article mostra que luego entonces és el resultat d’una fusió conceptual, un blend (Turner i Fauconnier 2002), entre un marcador consecutiu luego que s’ha dessemantitzat i d’un marcador consecutiu entonces, menys dessemantitzat, la qual cosa va portar a la formació d’un marcador argumentatiu que permet al parlant oferir una afirmació que l’oient ha de prendre com una conseqüència lògica i, per tant, irrefutable. Aquest marcador serveix per validar l’afirmació del parlant. A diferència de les anàlisis tradicionals, que consideren que luego és un marcador lògic consecutiu, l’article mostra, amb dades des del segle XIII al XVII, que luego mai no va tenir un significat de causa-efecte lògics; més aviat codificava conseqüències intersubjectives percebudes com a molt probables. Des de la perspectiva de la Gramàtica Cognitiva, es mostra també que, a mesura que el significat consecutiu de luego es va anar perdent cap al segle XX, es va afegir a la construcció entonces per recuperar el significat consecutiu intersubjectiu que anava perdent luego. Això va portar a la formació del nou marcador argumentatiu luego entonces, que es fa servir en textos argumentatiu perquè l’oient interpreti que una afirmació és irrefutable.This paper shows that luego entonces is the product of a conceptual fusion, a Blend (Turner and Fauconnier 2002), of a bleached consecutive marker luego and a relatively less bleached consecutive marker entonces that led to the formation of an argumentative marker by which the speaker offers a statement to be taken by the hearer as a logical consequence that is therefore irrefutable. The marker serves to validate the speaker’s assessment. In contrast with traditional analyses that see luego as a logical consecutive marker, this paper shows, based on data from the thirteenth to the seventeen century, that luego never had a logical cause-effect meaning; instead it encoded intersubjective consequences that were seen as highly probable. From a Cognitive Grammar perspective it is also shown that, as the consecutive meaning of luego started to bleach around the twentieth century, entonces joined the construction to reinstall the consecutive intersubjective reading that luego was losing. This led to the formation of the new argumentative marker luego entonces that is commonly used in argumentative texts to make the hearer interpret a statement as irrefutable

Weight distribution of cyclic codes defined by quadratic forms and related curves

We consider cyclic codes CL associated to quadratic trace forms inm variables (Formula Presented) determined by a family L of q-linearized polynomials R over Fqm, and three related codes CL,0, CL,1, and CL,2. We describe the spectra for all these codes when L is an even rank family, in terms of the distribution of ranks of the forms QR in the family L, and we also computethe complete weight enumerator for CL. In particular, considering the family L = ‹xql›, with l fixed in N, we give the weight distribution of four parametrized families of cyclic codes Cl, Cl,0,Cl,1, and Cl,2 over Fq with zeros(Formula Presented) respectively,where q = ps with p prime, α is a generator of F*qm, and m/(m,l)is even. Finally, we give simple necessary and sufficient conditions for Artin–Schreier curves yp−y = xR(x)+βx, p prime, associated to polynomials R ∈ L to be optimal. The weight distribution of irreducible cyclic codes associated with decomposable generalized Paley graphs

We use known characterizations of generalized Paley graphs which areCartesian decomposable to explicitly compute the spectra of the corresponding associated irreducible cyclic codes. Estimación de la Elasticidad-Precio de Corto Plazo de la Demanda de Electricidad en República Dominicana

This paper presents a theoretical model for the optimization of the decision-making process of power purchase of the electric utility companies of the Dominican Republic, taking into account the demand of end-users of the service, the short-term marginal cost of energy in the wholesale power market, and the budgetary constraints of the utility companies. This model was applied to estimate the short-term price elasticity of electricity demand for the three largest electric utility companies of the Dominican Republic, during the period 2007-2016; this evaluation was made using time series analysis techniques. The elasticities estimated were in the range of -0.012 to -0.018. It is also explored if these values undergo intraday variations. The paper closes outlining some welfare implications of the results obtained as well as policy recommendations

De un texto de M. Foucault sobre la modernidad

ResumenEl artículo es un ejercicio de lectura de un texto conocido deM. Foucault, ¿Qu'estce que les Lumières?, publicado en 1993.Además de algunas notas que se hacen en el seguimiento del texto sobre la pregunta kantiana en relaciónconlamodernidad, que el autor califica como una actitud y, en particular, el texto llama la atenciónespecialmente sobre dos conceptos: el de límite y el de condición. Dos conceptos cuyo uso, funcional y pragmático, indicarían la posibilidad de pensar la libertad como un pasar del otro lado del límite bajo ciertas condiciones que ya no serían aquellas de la posibilidad, sino las de la existencia. Duodenal intraepithelial lymphocytes of children with cow milk allergy preferentially bind the glycan-binding protein galectin-3

A breakdown in intestinal homeostasis results in inflammatory bowel diseases including coeliac disease and allergy. Galectins, evolutionarily conserved beta-galactoside-binding proteins, can modulate immune-epithelial cell interactions by influencing immune cell fate and cytokine secretion. In this study we investigated the glycosylation signature, as well as the regulated expression of galectin-1 and -3 in human duodenal samples of allergic and non-allergic children. Whereas galectin-1 was predominantly localized in the epithelial compartment (epithelial cells and intraepithelial lymphocytes) and the underlying lamina propria (T cells, macrophages and plasma cells), galectin-3 was mainly expressed by crypt epithelial cells and macrophages in the lamina propria. Remarkably, expression of these galectins was not significantly altered in allergic versus non-allergic patients. Investigation of the glycophenotype of the duodenal inflammatory microenvironment revealed substantial alpha2-6-linked sialic acid bound to galactose in lamina propria plasma cells, macrophages and intraepithelial lymphocytes and significant levels of asialo core 1 O-glycans in CD68+ macrophages and enterocytes. Galectin-1 preferentially bound to neutrophils, plasma cells and enterocytes, while galectin-3 binding sites were mainly distributed on macrophages and intraepithelial lymphocytes. Notably, galectin-3, but not galectin-1 binding, was substantially increased in intraepithelial gut lymphocytes of allergic patients compared to non-allergic subjects, suggesting a potential role of galectin-3-glycan interactions in shaping epithelial-immune cell connections during allergic inflammatory processes.Fil: Mercer, Natalia. Siphoninus finitimus (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae), "olive whitefly" in Arica-Chile

Se ent regan antecedentes sobr e las diferencias morfométricas en distintas estructuras de adultos y del pupoide de las poblaciones de aleyródidos asociados a olivo, peral y granado en la región de Arica- Parinacota, Chile. Las significativas diferencias (p < 0,01) encontradas en las dimensiones y en la morfología de las estructuras estudiadas entre las distintas poblaciones de mosquitas blancas que atacan a olivos respecto del peral y del granado, permiten establecer que en Arica la mosquita blanca del olivo es Siphoninus finitimus Silvestri y que S. phillyreae, está asociada a peral y granado.In this note are given background on the morphometric differences, in the genitalia of adults and the puparium of aleyrodidae populations associated with olive, pear and pomegranate in the region of Arica-Parinacota, Chile. The significant differences (p < 0.01) found in the dimension, and in the morphology of the structures studied between the different populations of whitelfly that attack to olive trees with regard to the pear and the pomegranate allow to establish that in Arica the whitefly of the olive tree is Siphoninus finitimus Silvestri and that S. phillyreae, it is associated with pear and pomegranate.Fil: Bobadilla Guzman, Dante.
