Temperature independent band structure of WTe2 as observed from ARPES
Extremely large magnetoresistance (XMR), observed in transition metal
dichalcogendies, WTe, has attracted recently a great deal of research
interests as it shows no sign of saturation up to the magnetic field as high as
60 T, in addition to the presence of type-II Weyl fermions. Currently, there
has been a lot of discussion on the role of band structure changes on the
temperature dependent XMR in this compound. In this contribution, we study the
band structure of WTe using angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy
(ARPES) and first-principle calculations to demonstrate that the temperature
dependent band structure has no substantial effect on the temperature dependent
XMR as our measurements do not show band structure changes on increasing the
sample temperature between 20 and 130 K. We further observe an electronlike
surface state, dispersing in such a way that it connects the top of bulk
holelike band to the bottom of bulk electronlike band. Interestingly, similar
to bulk states, the surface state is also mostly intact with the sample
temperature. Our results provide invaluable information in shaping the

Soliton Stability in Systems of Two Real Scalar Fields
In this paper we consider a class of systems of two coupled real scalar
fields in bidimensional spacetime, with the main motivation of studying
classical or linear stability of soliton solutions. Firstly, we present the
class of systems and comment on the topological profile of soliton solutions
one can find from the first-order equations that solve the equations of motion.
After doing that, we follow the standard approach to classical stability to
introduce the main steps one needs to obtain the spectra of Schr\"odinger
operators that appear in this class of systems. We consider a specific system,
from which we illustrate the general calculations and present some analytical
results. We also consider another system, more general, and we present another
investigation, that introduces new results and offers a comparison with the

Piezo- and magnetoelectric polymers as biomaterials for novel tissue engineering strategies
Tissue engineering and regenerative medicine are increasingly taking advantage of active materials, allowing to provide specific clues to the cells. In particular, the use of electroactive polymers that deliver an electrical signal to the cells upon mechanical solicitation, open new scientific and technological opportunities, as they in fact mimic signals and effects that occur in living tissues, allowing the development of suitable microenvironments for tissue regeneration. Thus, a novel overall strategy for bone and muscle tissue engineering was developed based on the fact that these cells type are subjected to mechano-electrical stimuli in their in vivo microenvironment and that piezo- and magnetoelectric polymers, used as scaffolds, are suitable for delivering those cues. Small Deviations from Gaussianity and The Galaxy Cluster Abundance Evolution
We raise the hypothesis that the density fluctuations field which originates
the growth of large scale structures is a combination of two or more
distributions. By applying the statistical analysis of finite mixture
distributions to a specific combination of Gaussian plus non-Gaussian random
fields, we studied the case where just a small departure from Gaussianity is
allowed. Our results suggest that even a very small level of non-Gaussianity

Chemical abundances for the transiting planet host stars OGLE-TR-10, 56, 111, 113, 132 and TrES-1. Abundances in different galactic populations
We used the UVES spectrograph (VLT-UT2 telescope) to obtain high-resolution
spectra of 6 stars hosting transiting planets, namely for OGLE-TR-10, 56, 111,
113, 132 and TrES-1. The spectra are now used to derive and discuss the
chemical abundances for C, O, Na, Mg, Al, Si, S, Ca, Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Co, Ni,
Cu and Zn. Abundances were derived in LTE, using 1-D plane-parallel Kurucz
model atmospheres. For S, Zn and Cu we used a spectral synthesis procedure,
while for the remaining cases the abundances were derived from measurements of
line-equivalent widths. The resulting abundances are compared with those found
for stars in the solar neighborhood. Distances and galactic coordinates are
estimated for the stars. We conclude that besides being particularly
metal-rich, with small possible exceptions OGLE-TR-10, 56, 111, 113, 132 and
TrES-1 are chemically undistinguishable from the field (thin disk) stars
regarding their [X/Fe] abundances. This is particularly relevant for the most
distant of the targets, located at up to ~2 Kpc from the Sun. We also did not
find any correlation between the abundances and the condensation temperature of
the elements, an evidence that strong accretion of planetary-like material,

Prevalence of gonorrhea and chlamydia in a community clinic for men who have sex with men in Lisbon, Portugal
Men who have sex with men (MSM) are at greater risk for sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Data on MSM chlamydia and gonorrhea prevalence estimates and associated risk factors are scarce. To our knowledge, this is the first study to describe the prevalence and the determinants of both chlamydia and gonorrhea infections in MSM in Portugal. We conducted a cross-sectional study using data from 1832 visits to CheckpointLX, a community-based center for screening blood-borne viruses and other STIs in MSM. Overall prevalence of chlamydia or gonorrhea in our sample was 16.05%, with 14.23% coinfection and 40.73% asymptomatic presentation among those testing positive. Anorectal infection was most common for chlamydia (67.26%), followed by urethral (24.78%) and oral (19.47%) infection. Oral infection was most common for gonorrhea (55.63%), followed by anal (51.25%) and urethral (17.50%) infection. In multivariate analyses, young age (U = 94684, p = 0.014), being foreign-born (χ2 = 11.724, p = 0.003), reporting STI symptoms (χ2 = 5.316, p = 0.021), inhaled drug use (χ2 = 4.278, p = 0.039) and having a higher number of concurrent (χ2 = 18.769, p < 0.001) or total (χ2 = 5.988, p = 0.050) sexual partners were each associated with higher rates of chlamydia or gonorrhea infection. Young and migrant MSM are a vulnerable population to STIs, as are those who use inhaled drugs and those with a higher number of concurrent or total sexual partners. Although Portugal has no guidelines on chlamydia and gonorrhea screening, our results point toward a need for greater awareness about the importance of high-frequency screening for those at increased risk (i.e., every three to six months).info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
