The plane strain model of a rigid building foundation embedded below the surface of an elastic half space is treated. The foundation is assumed to be vibrating freely with arbitrary transient time-dependences U(t) and V(t) in the horizontal and vertical directions, respectively, and to be rocking about its mass center with magnitude S,(

Utilization of Library Space in University Libraries of Assam: A Study

Objective: This study dealt with different academic library spaces like collection space, user seating space, service & staff work area space, non- assignable space etc. The main objective of the study was to identify the library spaces of four select State University libraries of Assam and how these spaces were being identified, organized and utilized by adopting different measures. It also emphasized on the weeding out policy of the University libraries as it was the key element of library space management. Methods: For this study, both qualitative and quantitative approach for data collection had been used. A structured questionnaire was prepared and sent to the head of the libraries for collecting relevant information and personal interview with the librarians had also been done. For collecting proper measurement of the spaces, physical verification of the libraries was also carried out. Results: The finding showed that the libraries had efficiently utilized its spaces and adopted different measures for optimum utilization. Different spaces were so organized that natural and artificial lighting facilities and natural air could take place. The libraries followed various guidelines or standards, keeping in mind of the institutional goals and objectives. But whenever it would create difficulties to agree with these standards, the libraries would follow its institutional guidelines. Conclusion: This study is helpful for the upcoming library professionals or future library planners to cope-up with the changing environment due to the implementation of web-based technologies and future library space re-arrangement process in the libraries

Simultaneous Engineering of Quality Through Integrated Modeling Simultaneous engineering has become the means to ensure quality through incorporation of manufacturing. This proves difficult without quantitative support tools. We present here a modeling-based approach to simultaneously design a product and its production process. We demonstrate an approach of examining sensitivities of output to all inputs of a system, from product design specifications, process variables, arid material specifications. We further develop mathematics of estimating the effects of in-line process control changes to improve quality. We demonstrate a method to choose noise sources to measure and process variables to control in-line based upon these measurements, and estimate the error reduction that such process control changes will provide. The tool allows simultaneous engineering of the product and process to improve quality

The literacy in digital world requires acquiring, exploring, managing, accessing, presenting, and using digital contents in easy manner. It is the skill to utilize and operate digitally enabled tools and software’s to perform effectively in digital world which requires cognitive skills, technology sound and web competency. The present study attempts to assess digital literacy skills and competencies among library users of central university of Jharkhand. An organized and structured questionnaire was framed having open and close end questions and was randomly distributed among users. It was observed that majority of users are aware of web tools and comfortable in online environment. The student needs training and digital literacy program for better work output. It further discusses understanding level of digital components, web technology application in learning and research, problem faced while using internet components. The paper also deals with awareness of various databases, e-learning tools and various types of literacy such as information literacy, web literacy, ICT literacy etc

ABSTRACT: The present study analyses the research output of the Indian Institute of Toxicology Research (IITR) for the period of 25 years (1993 to 2017). The study emphasizes on the various characteristics of the publications such as highly cited papers, national & international collaboration profile, Degree of Collaboration, most prolific authors, most preferred journals for communication, citation impact of the publications, most frequently used author keywords. The Web of Science, a multidisciplinary bibliographic database was used to retrieve the data for the study. The scientists of IITR preferred to publish in the foreign journals. No journal in which the research works of IITR scientists were published belonged to India. 5.73% of the total publications remained uncited. Only 0.86% of the total publications were contributed by the single authors and rest of the 99% publications were contributed by multi-authors in collaboration. The 13% of the total publications were internationally collaborated and 86% of them were domestically collaborated. The Oxidative Stress, Apoptosis, DNA Damage and Lipid Peroxidation were found to be the most active research areas as per the analysis of keywords of authors
