On Absence of 3-loop Divergence in N=4 Supergravity

We argue that N=4 supergravity is 3-loop UV finite because the relevant supersymmetric candidate counterterm is known to be SL(2, R)x SO(6) invariant, which violates the Noether-Gaillard-Zumino current conservation. Analogous arguments, based on the universality properties of groups of type E7, also apply to N=5,6,8 in 4,5,7 loops, respectively, since the 1/N BPS invariants break duality symmetry between Bianchi identities and quantum corrected vector field equations.Comment: 5 page

Nurses are the largest Human Resources (HR) that provide health services in hospital. Hospital nurses have an important role in the implementation of hospital functions to patients, therefore it requires a good performance so patients get the best service in achieving curative and rehabilitative goals. This study was conducted in RSUD Kota Depok between May and June 2017. Variables in this study are: (1) performance; (2)sex; (3) age; (4) education level; (5) years of service; (6) employment status; (7) work units; (8) work motivation; (9) work environment. This study is an analytical research with quantitative approach using cross-sectional study. The sample in this research is all of nurses in RSUD Kota Depok, the number is 79 nurses. Based on the results of this study, variables related to the performance of nurses in RSUD Kota Depok are job motivation (P = 0.011), work environment (P = 0.000) and work unit (P = 0.004), while gender (P = 0.113), age (P = 1.000), education level (P = 0.145), employment status (p = 0.823) and years of work (p = 0.312) are not related to nurse performance in RSUD Kota Depok 2017. Thus, it is expected that the management of RSUD Kota Depok considers factors related to the performance of nurses studied in this research, so that it is expected to measure the performance of nurses. Keywords: performance, work motivation, work environment, nurse performance, hospital

Volume Stabilization and the Origin of the Inflaton Shift Symmetry in String Theory

The main problem of inflation in string theory is finding the models with a flat potential, consistent with stabilization of the volume of the compactified space. This can be achieved in the theories where the potential has (an approximate) shift symmetry in the inflaton direction. We will identify a class of models where the shift symmetry uniquely follows from the underlying mathematical structure of the theory. It is related to the symmetry properties of the corresponding coset space and the period matrix of special geometry, which shows how the gauge coupling depends on the volume and the position of the branes. In particular, for type IIB string theory on K3xT^2/Z with D3 or D7 moduli belonging to vector multiplets, the shift symmetry is a part of SO(2,2+n) symmetry of the coset space [SU(1,1)/ U(1)]x[SO(2,2+n)/(SO(2)x SO(2+n)]. The absence of a prepotential, specific for the stringy version of supergravity, plays a prominent role in this construction, which may provide a viable mechanism for the accelerated expansion and inflation in the early universe.Comment: 12 page

Grazing Corn Produced Under Living Mulch Systems in Tennessee

The use of living mulch (LM) in the Southeastern U.S. has yet to be assessed for its potential for grazing operations to increase land use efficiency. Therefore, the need to determine the viability of the system is warranted. The objective of this study was to evaluate the benefits of white clover LM and crimson-clover cereal rye annual mulch in corn silage and grain production, and to evaluate the potential of LM grazing before and after the corn growing season in spring and fall. The study was conducted at the Middle Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center (MTREC), University of Tennessee, in Spring Hill, TN (35.68o N, 86.91o W, 810 ft altitude), from October 2018 to April 2021. The experimental design was comprised of 12 large paddocks (0.7 ha-1). Paddocks were arranged in a complete randomized design (CRD) in triplicate, totaling 12 plots (2 corn treatments x 2 cover crop treatments x 3 replicates). The paddocks contained either corn silage or grain, grown with either perennial “Durana” white clover (Trifolium repens L.) [WC] or with a mixture of crimson clover (“AU Sunrise” Trifolium incarnatum L.) and cereal rye (“Wintergrazer” Secale cereale L.) [CCCR]). Grazing was performed in spring and fall of 2020 and 2021 before and after corn planting and harvest, respectively. In spring of both years, the LM proportion was greater in CCCR than WC, and a greater proportion of broadleaf weeds (BLW) were observed in WC. In the fall of 2020, LM proportion was greater in WC than CCCR, but no differences were observed in the fall of 2021. Meanwhile, the greatest MM was observed in WC at the beginning of the grazing period. White clover can reduce weed pressure under grazing systems. White clover as a LM also showed positive applications in grazing systems with greater MM
