In this paper, the solid desiccant adsorption packed bed with a three-stage internal cooling (ICSPB) has been proposed to improve the dehumidification efficiency and make a comparison with that of non-internal cooling. To investigate the performance of the ICSPB, the dehumidification capacity, dehumidification efficiency, water content of solid desiccant, moisture ratio of solid desiccant, temperature of solid desiccant and inlet and outlet air temperature difference were discussed in different conditions of inlet air and supplying water temperature. It was found that the dehumidification performance of the bed with internal cooling could be improved greatly in the low temperature and low humidity conditions, while in the high temperature and humid, the improvement was not obvious. With internal cooling, the dehumidification efficiency and the water content of the solid desiccant could be improved 59.69% and 110.7%, respectively, and the temperature of solid desiccant could be reduced 2.2â—¦C when the ICSPB operated at the inlet air temperature of 20â—¦C, inlet humidity of 55%, and water temperature of 14â—¦C. Moreover, the dehumidification performance at each stage of ICSPB was studied. It was found that, the first stage played the most important role in the dehumidification process. In addition, the calculation models that can be used to predict the moisture ratio and the temperature of solid desiccant were established on the test results

Novel Insights into Orbital Angular Momentum Beams: From Fundamentals, Devices to Applications

    Get PDF
It is well-known by now that the angular momentum carried by elementary particles can be categorized as spin angular momentum (SAM) and orbital angular momentum (OAM). In the early 1900s, Poynting recognized that a particle, such as a photon, can carry SAM, which has only two possible states, i.e., clockwise and anticlockwise circular polarization states. However, only fairly recently, in 1992, Allen et al. discovered that photons with helical phase fronts can carry OAM, which has infinite orthogonal states. In the past two decades, the OAM-carrying beam, due to its unique features, has gained increasing interest from many different research communities, including physics, chemistry, and engineering. Its twisted phase front and intensity distribution have enabled a variety of applications, such as micromanipulation, laser beam machining, nonlinear matter interactions, imaging, sensing, quantum cryptography and classical communications. This book aims to explore novel insights of OAM beams. It focuses on state-of-the-art advances in fundamental theories, devices and applications, as well as future perspectives of OAM beams

BackgroundPre-mRNA processing factor 19 (PRPF19) is an E3 ligase that plays a crucial role in repairing tumor-damaged cells and promoting cell survival. However, the predictive value and biological function of PRPF19 in bladder urothelial carcinoma (BLCA) require further investigation.MethodsIn this study, we utilized transcriptomic data and bladder cancer tissue microarrays to identify the high expression of PRPF19 in BLCA, suggesting its potential as a prognostic biomarker. To gain a better understanding of the role of PRPF19 in the immune microenvironment of BLCA, we performed single cell analysis and employed the LASSO method. Additionally, we examined the methylation profiles of PRPF19 using the SMART website. Our investigation confirmed the correlation between PRPF19 and BLCA cell senescence and stemness. Furthermore, we constructed a PRPF19-miR-125a-5p-LINC02693-MIR4435-2HG ceRNA network using the ENCORI and miRWALK databases.ResultsOur comprehensive analysis reveals that PRPF19 can serve as a prognostic marker for BLCA and is significantly associated with various immune-infiltrating cells in BLCA. Moreover, our findings suggest that PRPF19 influences cellular senescence through the regulation of stemness. Finally, we developed a ceRNA network that has the potential to predict the prognosis of BLCA patients.ConclusionWe confirmed the prognostic value and multiple biological functions of PRPF19 in BLCA. Furthermore, the specific ceRNA network can be used as a potential therapeutic target for BLCA

Key Role of the Membrane Trafficking of Nav1.5 Channel Protein in Antidepressant-Induced Brugada Syndrome

Anti-depressant treatment has been found to be associated with the development of Brugada syndrome (BrS) through poorly defined mechanisms. Herein, this study aimed to explore the molecular basis for amitriptyline-induced BrS. The effects of long-term treatments of amitriptyline on Nav1.5 were investigated using neonatal rat ventricular myocytes. The electrophysiological properties, expression and distribution of Nav1.5 were studied using the patch clamp, Western blot and confocal laser microscopy assays. Interactions between Nav1.5 and its interacting proteins, including ankyrin-G and dystrophin, were evaluated by co-immunoprecipitation. A larger decrease in the peak INa occurred after long-term treatments to amitriptyline (56.64%) than after acute exposure to amitriptyline (28%). Slow recovery from inactivation of Nav1.5 was observed after acute or long-term treatments to amitriptyline. The expression of Nav1.5 on the cell membrane showed a larger decrease by long-term treatments to amitriptyline than by acute exposure to amitriptyline. After long-term treatments to amitriptyline, we observed reduced Nav1.5 proteins on the cell membrane and the disrupted co-localization of Nav1.5 and ankyrin-G or dystrophin. Co-immunoprecipitation experiments further testified that the combination of Nav1.5 and ankyrin-G or dystrophin was severely weakened after long-term treatments to amitriptyline, implying the failed interaction between Nav1.5 and ankyrin-G or dystrophin. Our data suggest that the long-term effect of amitriptyline serves as an important contribution to BrS induced by amitriptyline. The mechanisms of BrS induced by amitriptyline were related to Nav1.5 trafficking and could be explained by the disrupted interaction of ankyrin-G, dystrophin and Nav1.5

Treatment of saline organic wastewater by heterogeneous catalytic ozonation with Al2O3-PEC-CaxOy as catalysts

Al2O3-Pectin-CaxOy (Al2O3-PEC-CaxOy) was prepared as catalysts to improve the treatment of saline organic wastewater with heterogeneous catalytic ozonation. Compared with ozonation alone (33%), the removal rate of COD (62%) was significantly increased for Al2O3-PEC-CaxOy catalysts prepared under the optimized conditions. The introduction of pectin made Ca2+ firmly loaded on the support, and avoided the loss of active sites in the process of catalytic oxidation. In addition, the formation of porous carbon layer on the surface of the Al2O3 support after pectin calcination was conducive to improving the catalytic activity of the catalyst. Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and radical quenching experiments showed that hydroxyl radical (•OH), superoxide radical (•O2−) and singlet oxygen (1O2) were the reactive oxygen species (ROS) that attributed to the organic matter removal. Both free radical and non-free radical pathways were involved in the degradation of organic pollutants during the catalytic ozonation process. The removal rate of COD was only decreased slightly after twenty times of continuous operation for Al2O3-PEC-CaxOy catalysts, indicating that Al2O3-PEC-CaxOy catalysts with the good catalytic stability and reusability. It showed a great significance for long-term practical application with the economical and effective performances
