Study on Torsional Behaviour of Retrofitted Rectangular RC Beams with Web Openings

    Get PDF
In modern building construction web openings become necessary to provide utility ducts like water supply lines, air conditioning ducts etc. These ducts cause potential weakness in any construction hence affecting strength, serviceability and stability of the structure. There will be more adverse impact on structures if web opening has to pass through the beams or columns. Sometime in unavoidable situations openings are essential to pass through existing load bearing elements of structure hence required to strengthen externally to restore the strength. External jacketing by glass, carbon, basalt fibre fabrics provides a popular, simple and effective method for restoring the strength capacity of such elements. Many research works have been published on behaviour of retrofitted RCC beams with opening of different size and shapes especially under shear and flexure. Very few works are published to study the effect of beams with opening in torsion. The aim of the present work is to experimentally investigate the behaviour of rectangular RCC beams with rectangular small and large openings. The beams are retrofitted with GFRP fabrics of different orientations and width. GFRP strips of widths 10cm and 20cm fiber orientations (90/90/90/90/90) and (45/90/45/90/45) are used for retrofitting. The behaviour of beams were studied in terms of collapse load, torsional moment vs angle of twist, failure patterns

    Online Learning Management System

    Get PDF
Online Learning websites have completely altered the learning, course search, or learning process. Instructors and Students can now search and enroll in learning courses from the convenience of their own homes. The student/instructor can use an online learning website to find courses that align with their interests and career path. An Online Learning Management System may significantly improve a student’s course application process and an instructor’s enrolling process for their courses by utilizing the internet (Jeremy Roschelle, 1992). Seeking and enrolling in a course has grown simpler, more accessible, and faster in recent years. One of the primary features of enrolling in a course online is the availability of a wide range of categories of subjects for the courses. Course seekers may simply enroll in a broad range of courses by logging in and browsing the courses in the dashboard. Apart from that students can view their courses any time by logging in to the web application and entering the student homepage. Similarly, internet course enrollment services may assist instructors in expediting their enrollment process. Instructors can easily create, update, or disable their courses in the web application with a few clicks. As a result, Online Learning Management Systems save them time and effort. The cost of walk-in enrollments would be too high for the instructor. Aside from transportation and meals, the instructor must also invest capital in professional clothing and cannot present multiple courses at a single stretch. The Online Learning Management System allows the instructor to host his courses in the web application without breaking the bank. In the proposed Online Learning Management System, the students and instructors can register themselves in the application. Students and instructors are assigned different roles. The student can see a list of courses and can apply to any course that matches his/her interest or career path. Similarly, instructors can add new courses and view their profits in the dashboard when students purchase his/her course. To implement the frontend module of the project Bootstrap, jQuery, JavaScript and HTML5 is being used. Java and Spring boot MVC is being used for the backend module of the web application. MySQL is used to store the user and course data. The web application consists of two different roles as follows: the users with student roles will be able to view a course title, instructor name, and brief description of the course and purchase the course by providing their credit/debit card details. The instructor role user can create, edit, and disable their course in the web application after registration

Active flow control of airfoils via multi-sweeping jets at ultra low Reynolds numbers

    Get PDF
The primary focus is on implementing multiple sweeping jets to eliminate the requirement for high-lift equipment with mechanical components, which are at risk for mechanical failures and increase weight due to redundant control mechanisms. This project deals with the investigation of aerodynamic and performance parameters of Airfoils under subsonic flow regimes. This mainly includes the Active flow control techniques such as multi-sweeping jets used in Airfoils that will help us analyse the lift and drag parameters. The jet configurations are studied and modified to reduce viscous drag, improve pressure distribution and interference effects over and below the airfoil, and maximize lift coefficient. Pre and Post-processing stages would include the generation of a complete airfoil design with built-in sweeping jets using Fusion 360. It requires parametric inputs like altering the position of jets in order to calculate the induced drag and thus decrease the drag effects. The use of this open source also results in advanced visualization capabilities that include pressure, velocity distribution, turbulent kinetic energy, and eddy viscosity contours of the airfoil. This analysis and simulation have been carried out using ANSYS Fluent, industryleading fluid simulation software.Objectius de Desenvolupament Sostenible::9 - Indústria, Innovació i Infraestructur

Consumer Complaints and Protection: Stable Analysis and Design Patterns

    Get PDF
The concept of consumer complaints and protection has numerous applications across various domains. Using traditional methods of modeling design patterns is a tedious and costly task. The Software Stability Mode (SSM) is a more efficient and effective modeling method. In this thesis, the differences between the traditional method and the SSM is addressed. Then, several patterns are developed using the SSM to deal with consumer complaints. Each area, Advice, Appraisal, Commitment, Complaint, Compliance, Deed, Guideline, Gratification, Judgment, Model, Need, Ownership, Promotion, Rate, Review, Selling, Support, View, and Violation, is explored and the core knowledge of the concept of consumer complaints and protection is developed visually as well as in detail. Useful SAP and SDP templates are included for each concept. The main contribution of this thesis is the creation of stable, reusable templates that build an unlimited number of applications for the consumer complaints and protection concept

    Get PDF
The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of repetitions on static and dynamic strength. The study is divided into two parts, the first part investigated static and dynamic strength during one, three and six repetitions per minute, and the second part of the study analyzed dynamic strength data collected using the Multiaxial Multipurpose Isokinetic Dynamometer. The study comprised of dynamic strength test data at three speeds of one, five and ten inch per second. Five male subjects participated in the first part of the study, and the results were analyzed by plotting a time series to observe the pattern of change in strength with repetitions. The results show a linear decrease in static and dynamic strength; the rate of decrease was the highest for static six repetitions per minute and the least during the dynamic one repetition per minute test. There was a decrease of 48.72% in strength for static six repetitions/minute routine and a decrease of 5.15% during dynamic one repetition per minute routine. Plot of Median Frequency (MDF) of EMG signals showed the highest rate of fatigue occurrence during static six repetition/minute and the least during dynamic one repetition/minute routine. The results of the second part of the study also show a linear decrease in dynamic strength for the three speeds. The highest percentage decrease in strength was 15.62% during one inch per second routine, and least decrease in strength was 8.7% during the ten inch per second pull routine. During the push cycle, the highest percentage decrease in strength was 18.56% during five inch/second routine and the least decrease was 8.28% during one inch/second. Another important fact is that all subjects were able to exert a maximum strength of 64.89 lb during five inch per second pull routine. This value was greater than the strength values exerted during one and ten inch per second push and pull routines. The MDF plot of the EMG signals showed the highest rate of fatigue occurred during five inch per second routine, and the least rate during one inch per second routine
