As youth make the important and often difficult transition from childhood to adulthood, families, communities, and the state provide critical opportunities and supports. Investments made in youth today through programs, services, and other opportunities are a wise contribution to Illinois' collective future. In order to ensure that all young people in Illinois are ready for life, Illinois policymakers, parents, and other adult leaders must work intentionally and collaboratively to devise a comprehensive youth development strategy

    Implicit High-Order Flux Reconstruction Solver for High-Speed Compressible Flows

    The present paper addresses the development and implementation of the first high-order Flux Reconstruction (FR) solver for high-speed flows within the open-source COOLFluiD (Computational Object-Oriented Libraries for Fluid Dynamics) platform. The resulting solver is fully implicit and able to simulate compressible flow problems governed by either the Euler or the Navier-Stokes equations in two and three dimensions. Furthermore, it can run in parallel on multiple CPU-cores and is designed to handle unstructured grids consisting of both straight and curved edged quadrilateral or hexahedral elements. While most of the implementation relies on state-of-the-art FR algorithms, an improved and more case-independent shock capturing scheme has been developed in order to tackle the first viscous hypersonic simulations using the FR method. Extensive verification of the FR solver has been performed through the use of reproducible benchmark test cases with flow speeds ranging from subsonic to hypersonic, up to Mach 17.6. The obtained results have been favorably compared to those available in literature. Furthermore, so-called super-accuracy is retrieved for certain cases when solving the Euler equations. The strengths of the FR solver in terms of computational accuracy per degree of freedom are also illustrated. Finally, the influence of the characterizing parameters of the FR method as well as the the influence of the novel shock capturing scheme on the accuracy of the developed solver is discussed

Jenis data yang dipakai adalah data primer dan data sekunder yaitu dengan cara mengobservasi dan mewawancara kilang padi yang memiliki keterikatan dengan petani dan pengecer dalam penciptaan jalur produk. Dari hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan, kilang padi di Kecamatan Darussalam telah berjalan efektif dan efisien dalam penciptaan jalur produknya sesuai rantai nilai yang berlaku. Dalam rangkaian aktivitas nya kilang padi telah menjalankan aktivitas utama dan aktivitas pendukung. Indikator efektif kegiatan terlihat dalam rangkaian yang terjadi, kilang padi memperoleh bahan baku dari petani sekitar serta mendistribusikan hasil pengolahan langsung kepada pengecer terdekat. Nilai tambah yang diperoleh juga sebesar Rp.16.520.400/Ha/MT dengan persentase 54,65%, lebih besar dari petani dan pengecer. Indicator efisien kegiatan terlihat dalam hal kilang padi memperoleh bahan baku langsung berbentuk gabah kering giling (GKG) dari petani, pendistribusian hasil pengolahan menggunakan angkutan jenis pick-up, serta perekrutan tenaga kerja (SDM) yang melibatkan masyarakat sekitar.Kata kunci : kilang padi, rantai nila

    Pairwise Interactions between Linear Alkanes in Water Measured by AFM Force Spectroscopy

    Pairwise interactions between n-alkanes from decane to octadecane in water have been studied by single-molecule force spectroscopy. The interacting molecules are covalently tethered to the glass substrate and to the probe of an atomic force microscope by water-soluble linkers to facilitate single-molecule detection. However, the measured distribution of rupture forces deviates significantly from the distribution predicted by theoretical models for rupture of individual bonds. To describe the statistics of rupture forces, an analytical model that considers near-simultaneous rupture of two bonds loaded by tethers with different lengths is introduced. The common most probable force analysis approach is used for comparison. In both data analyses, the possible systematic errors due to nonlinear elasticity of polymeric tethers and variations in the shape of the potential of mean force were considered. Experimental distributions of rupture forces are well-fit by the two-bond rupture model using a single set of kinetic parameters for different experiments, while the most probable force approach yields parameters that vary significantly for different samples. The measured activation energies for dissociation of alkanes are close to the free energies predicted by cavity models of hydrophobic interactions. The surface free-energy density is estimated to be ∌21 kJ/(mol nm^2) and is close to the upper limit of free energies used in the computer simulations of hydrophobic interactions in proteins. In contrast to the predictions of the cavity models, the measured activation energy does not increase monotonically with increase in alkane chain size. To explain this discrepancy and the measured distance to the transition-state barrier (∌0.6 nm), it is suggested that alkanes undergo conformational transition to the collapsed state upon dimerization. Change in the alkane conformation from extended to helical has been observed previously for binding of alkanes in water to hydrophobic synthetic receptors. Here, however, conformational change is suggested without geometrical constraints imposed by small cavitands.     Effects of Multiple-Bond Ruptures in Force Spectroscopy Measurements of Interactions between Fullerene C_(60) Molecules in Water

    Interactions between fullerene C_(60) molecules in water were measured by force spectroscopy. Fullerene molecules were covalently connected to bifunctional water-soluble poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) linkers and subsequently tethered to the substrate and to the tip of the atomic force microscope to facilitate single molecule detection and avoid spurious surface effects. The distributions of rupture forces for substrates prepared with different incubation times of C_(60)-PEG-NH_2 exhibit high rupture forces that cannot be explained by the theoretical distribution of single molecule binding. Moreover, the relative amplitude of the high force peak in the histogram increases with incubation time. These observations are explained by attributing the measured high forces to the rupture of multiple bonds between fullerene molecules. Force spectroscopy data analysis based on the most probable forces gives significantly different dissociation rates for samples that exhibit different amplitudes of the high force peak. An approximate analytical model that considers ruptures of two bonds that are simultaneously loaded by tethers with different lengths is proposed. This model successfully fits the distributions of the rupture forces using the same set of kinetic parameters for samples prepared with different grafting densities. It is proposed that this model can be used as a common tool to analyze the probability distributions of rupture forces that contain peaks or shoulders on the high force side of the distribution

    Who’s Hangry?: Food Insecurity and Psychosocial Adjustment in D.C. Teens

    About 19,430 children in Washington D.C. experience food insecurity every day (Oliver, 2022). This is equivalent to 1 in 7 children in the area. According to WUSA, a news channel; food insecurity has been proven to lead to grave behavioral and emotional issues that can impair mental health and make it difficult for students to adjust to social situations (WUSA, 2017).We are excited to announce a new program that will help tackle food insecurity in public high schools in wards 7 & 8. The program’s name is DC Creating Overall Optimism in Kids (DC COOKs). The goal is to provide students with the skills and knowledge they need to cook easy and nutritious meals, even if they do not have access to a grocery store. When teenagers face economic stressors like food insecurity, it can have a significant impact on their emotional and behavioral functioning. While the direct effects of food insecurity on adolescent growth are clear, it is also likely that these stressors work indirectly to affect psychosocial adjustment. It is important to address these issues and provide support to help adolescents navigate this challenge because the consequences of ignoring these struggles can lead to less energy for complex social interactions, inability to effectively adapt to environmental stress, feeling physically unwell, and possibly developing mental health disorders or chronic illness (Thomsen, 2021). By offering these cooking classes, students will be empowered and given the tools they need to make healthy choices which will improve their overall psychosocial well-being. Moreover, the program will reduce food insecurity in the home causing an improvement in teen psychosocial adjustment.     Water in Protic Ionic Liquid Electrolytes: From Solvent Separated Ion Pairs to Water Clusters

    Abstract The large electrochemical and cycling stability of “water‐in‐salt” systems have rendered promising prospective electrolytes for batteries. The impact of addition of water on the properties of ionic liquids has already been addressed in several publications. In this contribution, we focus on the changes in the state of water. Therefore, we investigated the protic ionic liquid N ‐butyl‐pyrrolidinium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide with varying water content at different temperatures with the aid of molecular dynamics simulations. It is revealed that at very low concentrations, the water is well dispersed and best characterized as shared solvent molecules. At higher concentrations, the water forms larger aggregates and is increasingly approaching a bulk‐like state. While the librational and rotational dynamics of the water molecules become faster with increasing concentration, the translational dynamics are found to become slower. Further, all dynamics are found to be faster if the temperature increases. The trends of these findings are well in line with the experimental measured conductivities.From single molecules to bulk liquid : The state of water in a protic ionic liquid at different concentration is investigated by the aid of molecular dynamics simulations.     Integrating research and teaching for data curation in iSchools

    The quickly changing nature of information science and technology creates unique and remarkable challenges in terms of developing curriculum focused on building data competencies. Faculties responsible for teaching current developments in information studies have the unique burden of needing to continuously update our curricula without sacrificing our broader teaching goals. This panel features diverse perspectives on teaching data curation skills in five US‐based schools of information at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Panelists will present their unique perspectives on pedagogical approaches in courses dedicated to data curation, digital preservation, description and access standards, as well as data access and interchange. Topics introduced will range from flipped classroom techniques, finding messy datasets, common pitfalls, hands‐on labs, cloud based tools, data carpentry labs, and sequencing learning objectives to match stages of the data life cycle.
