    Library Consortia Development Analysis with Special Reference to India

    The study examines the library consortia research publications of the past two decades in order to gain insight into the development of library consortia, with a special emphasis on Indian contributions adopting Scientometrics analysis technique. Data was collected using the Web of Science abstracting and citation database, which retrieved 983 publications dating from 2001 to 2020. For the study, 326 relevant publications were selected and analysed using Biblioshny, Citespace and VOSviewer software. The analysis revealed a consistent research interest in library consortia, as shown by the increase in the number of publications and the number of keywords. India has secured 5th place in the production of publications, but the rate of contribution to the global publication was found to be significantly low (5%). Furthermore, neither Indian journals nor authors could reach the top ranking in library consortia publication. The United States dominated most of the extent of scientometric analysis. Recently, research focus was found around e,books, usage statistics, affordability and effective services. Research in the areas of cost benefit analysis, consortia framework and models are recommended to pay attention to significant output in library consortia research. On the whole, a big gap was observed in library consortia research. The outcomes of the research will aid in getting reliable and up-to-date information regarding library consortia research and offer insight into research trends

    A Dynamic Ion-Atom Hybrid Trap for High-Resolution Cold-Collision Studies

    We present a dynamic ion-atom hybrid trap for studies of cold ion-neutral collisions and reactions with a significantly improved energy resolution compared with previous experiments. Our approach is based on pushing a cloud of laser-cooled Rb atoms through a stationary Coulomb crystal of cold ions by using precisely controlled, tunable radiation pressure forces. We demonstrate the tuning of the atom kinetic energies over an interval ranging from 30 mK up to 350 mK with energy spreads as low as 24 mK, inferred from the comparison of experimental time-of-flight measurements with Monte Carlo trajectory simulations. We also demonstrate the first applications of our method to the investigation of chemical reactions. Our development opens up perspectives for accurate studies of the energy dependence of the reaction rates, the dynamics, and the reaction-product ratios of the ion-neutral processes in the cold regime. It also paves the way for the realization of fully energy- and state-controlled cold-collision experiments

    Analytical study of modified Manashiladi Lepa into Ointment

    Lepa Kalpana is one amongst the external application used in Ayurveda. Manashiladi Lepa is a formulation explained in ‘Rasa Tantra Sara Va Siddha Prayoga Sangraha’ for the prevention of scar in the skin surface. The formulation contains Ghrita and Madhu which is to be mixed with the powder of the herbs told in the formulation. In the present scenario, the Lepa Kalpana is not liked by the patients themselves as it leaves behind residual marks on the skin surface and stains the cloth if it comes in contact with it. Hence a modified Lepa in the form of ointment which contains reduced amount of oiliness and good packing is accepted by all. Literary review done through various sources like books, journals and internet revealed that, no modification studies have been carried out on this formulation yet. The Lepa is modified into an ointment for its easy acceptability and usage. The formulation is tested for its analytical values and discussed in the article

    Diverting intracellular trafficking of Salmonella to the lysosome through activation of the late endocytic Rab7 by intracellular delivery of muramyl dipeptide

    Previously, we showed that live Salmonella-containing phagosomes (LSP) recruit early acting Rab5 and promote fusion with early endosomes, thus avoiding transport to the lysosomes. Therefore, live Salmonella survive in a specialized compartment. Here we show that scavenger-receptor-mediated intracellular delivery of muramyl dipeptide (MDP) to macrophages leads to efficient killing of Salmonella both in vitro and in vivo. To understand the intracellular trafficking modulation of Salmonella by delivery of MDP, we investigated the levels of endocytic Rab proteins, which are the major regulators of vesicular transport. Western blot analysis reveals reduced Rab5 and enhanced Rab7 content in the maleylated bovine serum albumin-MDP (MBSA-MDP)-treated cells. The reduced content of Rab5 in the treated cells and on phagosomes inhibits the fusion of Salmonella-containing phagosomes with early endosomes, and the enhanced Rab7 content in these cells facilitated targeting of LSP to lysosomes, which contain cathepsin D and vacuolar ATPase, for killing. In vitro reconstitution of lysosomal transport demonstrated that a reduced content of Rab5 and an enhanced level of Rab7 in MBSA-MDP-treated cells is primarily responsible for targeting Salmonella to lysosomes. Intracellular delivery of MDP thus offers a general strategy against macrophage-associated infections caused by intracellular pathogens that survive in the host cell by resisting transport to lysosomes

    The first SSR-based genetic linkage map for cultivated groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.)

    Molecular markers and genetic linkage maps are pre-requisites for molecular breeding in any crop species. In case of peanut or groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.), an amphidiploid (4X) species, not a single genetic map is, however, available based on a mapping population derived from cultivated genotypes. In order to develop a genetic linkage map for tetraploid cultivated groundnut, a total of 1,145 microsatellite or simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers available in public domain as well as unpublished markers from several sources were screened on two genotypes, TAG 24 and ICGV 86031 that are parents of a recombinant inbred line mapping population. As a result, 144 (12.6%) polymorphic markers were identified and these amplified a total of 150 loci. A total of 135 SSR loci could be mapped into 22 linkage groups (LGs). While six LGs had only two SSR loci, the other LGs contained 3 (LG_AhXV) to 15 (LG_AhVIII) loci. As the mapping population used for developing the genetic map segregates for drought tolerance traits, phenotyping data obtained for transpiration, transpiration efficiency, specific leaf area and SPAD chlorophyll meter reading (SCMR) for 2 years were analyzed together with genotyping data. Although, 2–5 QTLs for each trait mentioned above were identified, the phenotypic variation explained by these QTLs was in the range of 3.5–14.1%. In addition, alignment of two linkage groups (LGs) (LG_AhIII and LG_AhVI) of the developed genetic map was shown with available genetic maps of AA diploid genome of groundnut and Lotus and Medicago. The present study reports the construction of the first genetic map for cultivated groundnut and demonstrates its utility for molecular mapping of QTLs controlling drought tolerance related traits as well as establishing relationships with diploid AA genome of groundnut and model legume genome species. Therefore, the map should be useful for the community for a variety of applications
