    Solid Fuel rich Propellant Development for use in a Ramjet to Propel an Artillery Shell

    This study describes the development of a fuel-rich propellant to be used in a solid fuel ramjet to provide active propulsion to a 155 mm artillery shell. Fuel-rich propellants consisting of aluminum, ammonium perchlorate and hydroxyl terminated polybutadiene were developed and their ballistic properties were measured to choose the appropriate fuel for the ramjet application. The attempts made were to enhance the burn rates of the propellant to provide required burn rates at lowest possible pressures in primary combustor of the ramjet. The propellant selection was done with reference of working time period of the base bleed unit, to calculate the required burn rate and corresponding pressure in primary combustor. It was observed that the fuel rich propellant of composition 35% ammonium perchlorate with 1 % Iron oxide embedded on it, 30 % mechanically activated aluminum with 10% polytetrafluoroethylene, and 25 % HTPB was found suitable for the above application. This provided the higher burn rates among all developed propellants with high pressure index of 0.58. This makes it suitable for the ramjet requiring higher burn rates at lower possible primary chamber pressures. The Young’s modulus and tensile strength of this propellant was measured to be 1.73 MPa and 0.24 MPa, respectively

    Detection of Mesiobuccal Canal in Maxillary Molars and Distolingual Canal in Mandibular Molars by Dental CT: A Retrospective Study of 100 Cases

    Objective. To detect presence of MB2 canal in maxillary molars and distolingual canal in mandibular molars by Dental CT. Material and Methods. A retrospective study of 100 Dental CTs was done. Axial and paraxial images obtained were used to assess the presence of MB2 canal in maxillary molars and distolingual canal in mandibular molars. Results. The youngest patient was of 11 years while the eldest patient was of 77 years. Males were 58 in number and females were 42 in number. MB2 canals were present in 57 patients and distolingual canal was present in 18 patients. Maximum MB2 canals were present in age group between 51 and 60 years, while distolingual canals were present in age group of 21–30 years. Conclusion. Dental CT allows adequate visualization of variation in root canal morphology and can be important diagnostic tool for successful endodontic therapy

    IDENTIFICATION OF POTENTIAL INHIBITORS FOR LOWERING CHOLESTEROL LEVEL BY INHIBITING PCSK9

    ABSTRACTObjective: PCSK9 has medical significance in lowering cholesterol levels. Inhibitors target and inactivate PCSK9 in the liver. Knocking out PCSK9 (proprotein convertase subtilisin kexin 9) reduces the amount of harmful LDL cholesterol circulating in the bloodstream. There are two known inhibitors for treating the cardiovascular disease Arilocumab†and Evalocumabâ€. However there are many side-effects. The current study is to identify natural and synthetic inhibitor using the pharmacophoric feature of the known inhibitor and validating the short listed candidates using Molecular dynamics and ADMET properties.Methods: Known inhibitors for the PCSK9 Protein were taken from the BINDING DATABASE. Molecular docking was performed for the known inhibitors with the PCSK9 protein. After docking the best inhibitor was selected and the docking result was then imported to find the pharmacophoric features.Results: The pharmacophore model was generated with 3 features containing  1 hydrogen bond acceptor(A),1 Hydrogen bond donor(B) and 1 Aromatic ring. The constructed e-pharmacophore model was screened with more than 20000 natural compounds. 5 compounds were short listed. Among them ZINC85625485 has  glide  score  of  -13.03  kcal/mol  with  glide  energy  was  -57.62 kcal/mol and ZINC85625406 has glide score of -8.1kcal/mol with glide energy was -39.33kcal/mol were taken as the best Hits.Conclusion: PCSK9 is known to be a therapeutic agent as it controls the plasma LDL cholesterol levels by posttranslational regulation of the LDL receptor. Therefore, up-regulation of PCSk9 can lead to elevated cholesterol level in such case inhibition of PCSK9 will be a effective remedy. In this study already known inhibitors were taken and pharmacophore feature was generated. Zinc database was screened to find out novel compounds with similar pharmacophore features that can act as potentially active compound against PCSK9. ZINC85625485 and ZINC85625406 were short listed as lead compounds with Molecular dynamics simulation and checking the ADMET properties. Keywords: PCSK9, Docking, ADMET, Molecular Dynamics.                                                            Â

    Martian M2 peak behaviour in the dayside near-terminator ionosphere during ICMEs

    The interplanetary coronal mass ejections (ICMEs) can pose significant impacts on the Martian ionosphere, resulting in plasma depletion, variability, and escape to space. However, the connections between the ICMEs and the associated responses of the dayside near-terminator Martian ionospheric M2 peak are not well understood. The present study primarily investigates the behaviour of the ionospheric peak density (Nm) and height (hm) during the passage of ICMEs using observations from the Radio Occultation Science Experiment (ROSE) aboard MAVEN spacecraft. We have selected 8 such ICMEs (during 2017-2022) at Mars from the existing catalogs and studied the ROSE electron density profiles during quiet and disturbed time (ICMEs) for identical solar zenith angle range. We observed the elevation of the M2 peak (hm ~4-16 km) during disturbed time (ICMEs) with a decrease in Nm (0.41-2.8 * 10^10 m-3) in comparison to the quiet time. The present study, for the first time, addressed the influence of ICMEs on the M2 peak parameters (Nm and hm). We have proposed that the development of large vertical pressure gradient and electron temperature enhancement are plausible causes for ionospheric variability. Therefore, the present study provides new insights to understand the peak plasma behaviour in the dayside near-terminator ionosphere during ICMEs

    A Comparative study between conventional method and the Bethesda system for reporting thyroid cytopathology (TBSRTC)

    Background: FNAC is widely used for the diagnosis of thyroid lesions. TBSRTC was introduced to streamline the reporting of thyroid aspirates. Objectives was to study the spectrum of various thyroid lesions in and around Meerut and comparison of conventional method and TBSRTC.Methods: A total of 464 patients were evaluated both by conventional system and TBSRTC.Results: As per conventional system of reporting, maximum number of cases were diagnosed as benign (87%), followed by malignant (6.4%), follicular neoplasia (2.5%), equivocal (2.1%) and inadequate (1.7%). As per TBSRTC, maximum number of cases were reported as category 2, 86.2% followed by category 6, 6%, category 1, 2.5% and cat 3,2.5%, category 4, 1.5% and category 5, 1%. Among benign category, maximum number of cases were of colloid goiter/multinodular goiter (MNG) (65%) followed by Hashimoto`s thyroiditis (15%), Grave`s disease (6%). Among the malignant category, maximum number of cases were of papillary carcinoma thyroid (PCT) (5.3%) followed by medullary carcinoma thyroid (MCT) (0.43%), non-Hodgkin`s lymphoma NHL (0.21%), metastatic carcinoma (0.21%), and anaplastic carcinoma (0.21%) of each.Conclusions: In present study it was found that there is an excellent agreement between the conventional system and TBSRTC. Results of both systems of reporting are comparable. In some cases, TBSRTC is almost equivalent to the conventional system in the pattern of reporting (viz. benign and malignant cat) while in some cases, TBSRTC is better in reporting (viz. FN and equivocal cat). The sensitivity of TBSRTC (93%) is slightly more as compared to the conventional system (90%) while its specificity (86%) slightly less as compared to conventional system (88%). Thus, as compared to the conventional system, TBSRTC may be viewed as a better screening test for thyroid lesions, though at the cost of specificity

    Role of p63 expression in non-proliferative and proliferative lesions of breast

    Background: Breast lump among females, is a fairly common complaint. Breast lump have a variety of etiologies ranging from inflammatory to benign to malignant lesions. Myoepithelial markers are useful in helping to distinguish invasive carcinoma from benign proliferations with a similar morphological appearance, benign proliferative lesions and most pre-invasive lesions with an intact myoepithelium. Invasive carcinomas lack the myoepithelial cell layer that normally surrounds benign breast glands. p63 antibody is a myoepithelial cell marker that selectively stains nuclei. Also, it is negative in stromal, myofibroblastic and adipocytic cells. This makes p63 more specific and superior to other myoepithelial markers.Methods: The present study was done on a total of 151 cases of breast diseases, received in the form of core biopsy, tru cut biopsy, lumpectomy, and mastectomy specimens. Clinical history and examination findings of the patients were collected in all the cases. All specimens were routinely processed and stained with haematoxylin and Eosin (H and E) stain and only 50 cases were subjected to immunohistochemical staining for p63.Results: Out of total 151 cases, 09 were inadequate for evaluation, 96 cases benign and 46 malignant. In benign category, fibroadenoma was most common and infiltrating ductal carcinoma (NOS) was the most common in malignant category. Mean size of benign tumors was found to be less than that of malignant tumors. All malignant cases were negative for p63 expression. In the benign category, 88.6% cases showed positive expression for p63 while 11.4% were negative. Among the benign category, non-proliferative lesions were continuous positive, proliferative showed discontinuous positivity for p63.Conclusions: Myoepithelial markers are useful in helping to distinguish invasive carcinoma from benign proliferations with a similar morphological appearance, benign proliferative lesions and most pre-invasive lesions with an intact myoepithelium.
