    The development of information and communication technology plays a considerable role for students in writing their theses. The positive side, it will help the students to find countless number of academic sources ranging from journal articles to complete theses written by other scholars. On the other hand, it will also create a chance for the students to commit plagiarism easier. Unoriginal writing and plagiarism in this digital era can be detected in the digital way by using plagiarism detection software. This paper elaborates how students understand the concept of plagiarism, how they avoid plagiarism, and how they perceive online plagiarism detection service. The data was taken from interviews to MA students during their period of thesis writing. This paper concludes several important outlines to be learning guidelines for the students in improving their academic writing

    Students’ Responses toward the Use of Quizizz in English Class

    This research is aimed at knowing students perception toward Quizizz as English learning media as that Quizizz is an educational app that enables students to participate in fun multiplayer class acitivties. This research applied descriptive quantitative method. It was conducted by lesson study platform. The research was conducted at SMPN 23 Makassar. The research participant was 38 students at eight grade first semester 2021/2022. The instrument of the research was questionnaire. Classically students have positive statements of the usage of Quizizz as the learning media for English learning as the shake of its interesting and fun features and impressions, the chance in peer learning to solve some challenging and step by step questions in form of Quiz. Beside that, Quizizz application enable the teachers to handle hybrid learning by effective students engagement. As the suggestion, before applying Quizizz as learning media, the students have to get used to use this application to minimize constraint usage during teaching learning process

    THE STUDENTS INTEREST TOWARD HANDBOOK OF LESSON STUDY TO THE SERVICE TRAINING STUDENTS IN TEACHING

    This research is aimed to know the students interest of using handbook of lesson study in teaching. Whether, this research also want to know the advantages and the disadvantages of using the handbook and the students perception toward handbook of lesson study applied by the service training students. The researcher will apply descriptive research. It aimed at finding out the description of the students’ interest towards the use of handbook of lesson study in teaching. The instruments will be used in this research are questionnaire and think aloud. The population of this research will be the fifth semester of English department students of Cokroaminoto Palopo University, which consists of 200 students. Purposive sampling technique will be used to take the sample. The result from this research shows that From 10 items in the questionnaire, consists of 5 positive statements and 5 negative statements, describes that most of the students gave positive response toward the use of handbook of lesson study in teaching to the service training students.     Students’ Response Towards the Improvement of Reading Comprehension Through Herringbone Technique

    This research aimed to find out how students’ response after they learned reading to improve their comprehension skill through herringbone technique. Descriptive quantitave method was used in this research. It aimed at finding out and describing students’ response towards the improvement of reading comprehension through herringbone technique.The subject of the research was the fourth semester students in Academic year 2019/2020. The researchers applied purposive sampling technique and took class C from three classes. The total sample of this research was 38 students. In collecting the data, the researchers used a questionnaire to gain students’ response. Total number of questionnaires were 10 numbers with positive statements. The result shows there were 35 students (92.11%) who responded strongly agree and 3 students (7.89%) who responded agree. It means that all students gave good response for this technique. Based on the result of this research, the researchers can conclude that herringbone technique is a good technique to be applied in comprehending a reading text because this method used 5W+1H questions as guidance for the reader to comprehend the content of a reading text

    The partners in this Community Service activity are the teachers of Palopo 8 Public Middle School which are still not optimal in carrying out scientific research and publications. In general, the problem of partners, namely the number and quality of research and publications of teachers at scientific meetings is still not recorded from 49 teachers, only 5 have conducted research in schools, while for publication in scientific meetings only 3 teachers have attended national seminars. In addition, the activities of the subject teacher deliberation have not specifically led to the use of research results so that the pattern of teacher professional development is still not optimal. Based on the problems faced by partners, the PKM team offered a Solution, namely Classroom Action Research Training, Data Processing and Analysis Assistance, Technical Guidance for Writing Scientific Articles. The approach method used is Training, Assistance, Technical Guidance, and Monitoring the evaluation of the implementation of activities. The target of this PKM activity is an increase in teacher knowledge in carrying out Classroom Action Research, being able to process and analyze research data, being able to write scientific articles

    Bahasa Inggris merupakan bahasa internasional yang digunakan di berbagai negara. Di Indonesia, Bahasa Inggris merupakan bahasa asing dan merupakan mata pelajaran wajib mulai dari jenjang sekolah dasar sampai perguruan tinggi. Namun dalam kehidupan sehari-hari banyak pelajar yang kurang tertarik mempelajari Bahasa Inggris dan beranggapan bahwa Bahasa Inggris adalah sesuatu yang sulit. Pengabdi tertarik untuk memberikan pendampingan pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris dasar (basic English) kepada anak-anak yang tergabung dalam Taman Pendidikan Al-Quran Perumahan Harmoni Kota Palopo untuk menanamkan ketertarikan belajar Bahasa Inggris. Usia anak-anak yang aktif di Taman Pendidikan AL-Quran Perumahan Harmoni yaitu anak-anak pelajar Taman Kanak-Kanak (TK) dan Sekolah Dasar (SD). Proses pendampingan ini dilakukan secara regular dua kali sepekan selama enam bulan yaitu dimulai pada bulan Januari sampai Juni 2022. Pengabdi mengajarkan Bahasa Inggris dasar bagi anak-anak dengan metode ceramah tapi santai, brainstorming, listen and repeat, songs, question and answer, coloring, question, and inquiry. Media yang digunakan adalah boardmarker, gambar, lembar tugas sederhana. Pembelajaran dilakukan dengan berbagai tema yang menarik untuk anak-anak. Hasil dari pengabdian ini adalah anak-anak bisa belajar Bahasa Inggris dengan santai dan tanpa mereka sadari karena dilakukan di luar sekolah. Pengabdi juga mendapatkan kontribusi berupa pengalaman pengajaran Bahasa Inggris untuk anak-anak (English for Children)

    Facilitating Students’ Speaking Task Using YouTube During Covid-19 Pandemic

    This study investigates students' perception of the use of YouTube to facilitate undergraduate students' speaking activities. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative research. The sampling system is done randomly and takes 40 students as a sample. The questionnaire has two parts, followed by ten questions with five answer choices using a Likert scale covering strongly disagree to strongly agree. The result of the study shows that 80% of students access YouTube because YouTube is very interesting, 75% of students say YouTube is an easy media to access, 80% of students say YouTube can be used as a learning resource (80%), and 85% of students use YouTube as a medium for doing speaking tasks. The student response to the use of YouTube as the media of facilitating students' speaking tasks is very positive, where 72% of students stated they strongly agreed if the practice of speaking through YouTube was applied, and 20% of students agreed. In general, student responses in using YouTube to facilitate students speaking activities in distance learning during the Covid-19 pandemic are very positive

    The Microteaching Course Benefits towards the Students of English Education Study Program in Teaching Practice

    The aim of this study was to assess the advantages and responses experienced by students during their micro-teaching course, which serves as preparation for their teaching practice (PPL). The study employed a quantitative research method and was conducted within the English Education Program at Universitas Muslim Indonesia. The study's population consisted of eighth-semester students enrolled in the English Education Department, encompassing three classes. Data was collected using a Likert scale questionnaire, with a total of 60 students sampled from the entire population. Data collection was solely through the questionnaire. The results of the data analysis indicated that students held significantly positive perceptions regarding the benefits of micro-teaching courses, with 77% expressing very positive views. Additionally, students' responses to these courses were predominantly positive

    HOW TO APPLY THE NUMBERED HEAD TOGETHER LEARNING MODEL TO IMPROVE INDONESIAN LEARNING OUTCOMES IN FIRST MIDDLE SCHOOL

    This research is a classroom action research that aims to determine whether the cooperative learning Numbered Head Together (NHT) can improve students’ learning outcome in Indonesian course. The subjects of this study were 45 students of class VII A of SMP Negeri 8 Palopo in the even semester of the 2018/2019 academic year. This research was carried out in two cycles, and each cycle consists of six meetings. Data collection was carried out using learning outcomes tests and observations. The data collected were analyzed using quantitative analysis, and the observation data were analyzed using qualitative analysis. The results showed that the average score of students in the first cycle was 40.02, with a standard deviation of 20.21. while in the second cycle, the average score was 68.26, with a standard deviation of 12.00. It shows that classical student learning outcomes have been achieved. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that with the implementation of cooperative learning NHT in the learning process, the learning outcomes, attendance, readiness, and activeness of students can increase.
