    Synthesis of silver nanoparticles using fresh bark of Pongamia pinnata and characterization of its antibacterial activity against gram positive and gram negative pathogens

    The recent advancements in techniques for synthesis of zerovalent nanoparticles using green method show a clean, simple, less toxic and environmentally benign process. In this communication, silver nanoparticles were synthesized and characterized using the fresh bark extract of Pongamia pinnata. The bark extract was exposed to silver ions and the resultant biosynthesized silver nanoparticles characterized by UV-vis spectrophotometry shows the surface plasmon resonance band at 420 nm. X-ray diffraction spectrum shows crystalline structure while scanning electron microscope and transmission electron microscope analyses revealed the polydisperse distribution and particle size of 5-55 nm. The elemental analysis shows strong signal at 3 keV that corresponds to silver ions and confirms the presence of metallic silver. The antibacterial activity of silver nanoparticles was determined by agar well diffusion method against gram positive and gram negative bacteria. Maximum and minimum zones of inhibition were noted against Klebsiella planticola (15 mm) and Staphylococcus aureus (13 mm), respectively. This study reveals that silver nanoparticles possess good antibacterial activity at 100 ΞΌg/ml concentration

    In Vitro Antibacterial Activity and Mechanism of Silver Nanoparticles against Foodborne Pathogens

    Biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles using Planomicrobium sp. and to explore the antibacterial activity against food borne pathogenic bacteria Bacillus subtilis, (3053) Klebsiella planticola (2727) Klebsiella pneumoniae (MAA) Serratia nematodiphila (CAA) and Escherichia coli. In the current studies, 1 mM of silver nitrate was added into 100 mL of Planomicrobium sp. culture supernatant. The bioreduction of pure AgNO3 was characterized by UV-visible spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive analysis (EDS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) analysis. The formation of silver nanoparticles was confirmed by the presence of an absorption peak at 400 nm using UV-visible spectrophotometry. The morphology and size of the silver nanoparticles was monitored by TEM and SEM. Crystal structure was obtained by carrying out X-ray diffraction studies and it showed face centered cubic (FCC) structure. The bactericidal effect of silver nanoparticles was compared based on diameter of inhibition zone in well method. Bacterial sensitivity to nanoparticles a key factor in manufacture the suitable for long life application in food packaging and food safety. Food safety is a worldwide health goal and the food borne diseases get a main disaster on health. Therefore, controlling of bacterial pathogens in food is credit of harms associated to health and safety

    objectives: A lot of herbal plants and polyherbal formulations are used for the treatment of liver diseases. Methods: This present investigationwas aimed to assess the hepatoprotective activity of aqueous and ethanol extract of Pongamia pinnata leaves against acetaminophen-induced liverdamage in albino rats. Silymarin as a standard drug for comparing the activity. The activity was assessed by comparing the biochemical parametersin serum levels such as serum glutamate pyruvate transaminase, serum glutamate oxalate transaminase, total bilirubin, alkaline phosphatase ofplant extracts treated group with acetaminophen treated animals. Results: Results showed, ethanolic extract treated group showed highly significantactivity (p<0.001), whereas aqueous extract treated group has shown the significant (p<0.01) action but less compared with ethanolic extract. Plantextracts restores biochemical enzymes and brings down to normal as compared to standard drug silymarin.     EVALUATION OF PHYTOCHEMICAL CONSTITUENTS AND ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY OF SILVER NANOPARTICLE SYNTHESIZED IPOMOEA NIL AGAINST SELECTED PATHOGENS

    ABSTRACTObjective: The objective of this study is to investigate a simple and feasible approach for the production of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) by using leafextract of Ipmoea nil and to evaluate its antibacterial activity.Methods: The AgNPs synthesized was characterized by a change in color and the absorption peaks by ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy. The phytocompounds responsible for the reduction and capping of silver ions was known from Fourier transform infrared spectra and phytochemical analysis.The antibacterial effects of prepared aqueous AgNPs were detected against five types of pathogenic bacteria, including Gram-negative and Grampositivebacteria (Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Bacillius, Proteus, and Klebsilla pneumonia) using agar well diffusion method.Results: A peak absorption value between 400 and 450 nm and the color change of the extract from yellowish to red wine were corresponds tothe plasmon absorbance of AgNPs. On the other hand, aqueous extract of I. nil mediated AgNPs found to be effective against tested microorganisms(Salmonella, Bacillus, and Proteus) with inhibition zone in the range of 10-13 mm (20 μl and 10 μl) except E. coli and K. pneumonia. Furthermore,aqueous extract of I. nil leaves had no ability to suppress the growth of the tested microorganisms in the concentration of 10 μl. The control alsoproduced similar inhibition zones like AgNPs.Conclusions: Our findings indicated that green synthesized AgNPs mediated by I. nil leaf extract had an efficient anti-bactericidal activity against thebacterial species tested.     Synthesis of zinc oxide nanoparticles using plant leaf extract against urinary tract infection pathogen

    In modern science, Nanotechnology is an ablaze field for the researchers. Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) are known to be one of the most multifunctional inorganic nanoparticles with its application in treatment of urinary tract infection. Nanoparticles were synthesized using Passiflora caerulea fresh leaf extract and were characterized by UV-visible spectroscopy (UV-vis), X-ray diffractometer (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Energy dispersive analysis of x-ray (EDAX), Atomic force microscopy (AFM). Therefore, the study reveals an efficient, eco-friendly and simple method for the green synthesis of multifunctional ZnO NPs using P. caerulea. Urinary tract infection causing microbes were isolated from the disease affected patient urine sample. The synthesized nanoparticles have been tested against the pathogenic culture showed a very good zone of inhibition compared with plant extract. It indicates the biomedical capability of ZnO NPs

    In present state thousands of hurtful toxins are accumulated in environment are taken by the human being itself. Cosmetics are one of them. Cosmetics are those elements which are used to improve the appearance of the human body. They are generally combinations of chemical compounds, some being derived from natural sources, many being synthetic. But the people are not aware of adverse effects of these chemical substances on human body due to its long-term usage. Therefore, this study was carried out which was conceptual type in nature. The aim & objectives of this study was to study the concept Dushivisha & to study the toxic effects of cosmetics on human body & correlate the Dushivisha w.s.r. cumulative toxicity of cosmetics. All the relevant material was compiled from Brihatrayi and available commentaries on it. Research articles are also searched from various websites. All the references were collected & analyzed & finally conclusion was drawn. Conclusion of this study is that cosmetics can be included under cumulative type of toxicity. Due to cumulative toxicity hazards of this substance not seen on the body immediately but they can be seen slowly after their long-term use. This cumulative type of toxicity is similar to Dushivisha concept described by Ayurveda

    SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF SILVER NANOPARTICLES FROM MARINE BROWN SEAWEED AND ITS ANTIFUNGAL EFFICIENCY AGAINST CLINICAL FUNGAL PATHOGENS

    Objectives: The aim of this study is to synthesize silver nanoparticles using the algal extract of Padina tetrastromatica and evaluate its antifungal activity against pathogenic fungus isolated from clinical samples.Results: Formation of brown color at 15 minutes indicates the production of silver nanoparticles by the extract of brown algae P. tetrastromatica. Surface plasmon resonance band was centered at 440 nm which was observed by UV-vis spectrophotometer. SEM image revealed spherical and cubical nanoparticles with high agglomeration, and energy-dispersive X-ray illustrates elemental components of silver formed at 3 keV. TEM shows spherical, truncated, and ellipsoidal nanoparticles and also it evidences the algae compounds that are capped with nanoparticles. SAED pattern proved four diffraction face-centered cubic rings at (111), (200), (220), and (311) which indicates the crystalline nature of nanoparticles. Silver nanoparticles show high inhibition activity against Fusarium sp, Aspergillus niger, Candida albicans, Aspergillus fumigatus, and Aspergillus flavus at different concentrations. P. tetrastromatica-mediated synthesis of silver nanoparticles shows rapid and eco-friendly silver ion reduction process.Methods: Dried algal biomass was used to prepare the pure algal extract and added with 1 mM AgNO , and the color change was noted and recorded by ultraviolet (UV)-vis spectrophotometer. The morphological characteristics were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Crystalline structure was analyzed by SAED pattern. Antifungal activity was performed by agar well diffusion method against various pathogenic fungi.Conclusion: Therefore, this present study elucidates that algae-mediated synthesized silver nanoparticles have antifungal activity against pathogenic fungi, so it can be developed as a novel medicine for human welfare in biomedical applications in the near future.Keywords: Padina tetrastromatica, Silver nanoparticles, Transmission electron microscopy, Antifungal activity, Green synthesis.Γ‚

    HEPATOPROTECTIVE ACTIVITY OF AQUEOUS EXTRACTS OF CHRYSANTHEMUM INDICUM FLOWERS ON PARACETAMOL INDUCED LIVER INJURY IN ALBINO RATS

    Objective: The present investigation was evaluated that protective activity of aqueous extract of flowers of Chrysanthemum indicum studied againstparacetamol-induced hepatotoxicity in animal model.Methods: Bioactive functional groups, such as alcohol, carboxylic acid, and amines, were present in the aqueous extract of flowers of C. indicumidentified by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The animals were grouped into 5 and each group has 6 animals and induced the hepatic failure.Silymarin was used as reference standard. Aqueous extract of flowers of C. indicum treated in a different dose which was compared with control groupof animals.Results: Aqueous extract of flowers of C. indicum reduced the level of aspartate transaminase (AST), alanine transaminase (ALT), serum bilirubin,protein, triglycerides, and cholesterol compared than paracetamol treated Group II animals. Histopathological studies were confirmed that reductionof necrosis and inflammation in the liver cells.Conclusion: Thus, these results revealed that the aqueous extract of flowers of C. indicum shown very significant (p<0.01) hepatoprotection againstparacetamol-induced hepatic failure in animal model by reducing AST, ALT, serum total bilirubin, protein, triglycerides, and cholesterol levels.Keywords: Hepatoprotective activity, Chrysanthemum indicum, Paracetamol

    Introduction: In recent years, there has been a resurgence in the use of traditional medicinal herbs, and as a result, pharmaceutical companies are investing heavily in developing natural medications derived from plants. Nanoparticles act in a number of potential ways and fields. Chemical synthesis of nanoparticles is no longer advantageous compared to plant-based synthesis. The current study uses a green method to create silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) utilizing flower extract. Materials and methods: The cytotoxic activity for gel was tested by the following convention proposed by Muzushima and Kabayashi with specific alterations. 0.05 mL of hibiscus and marigold of various fixations. Result: Using rosa and jasminum extract in the manufacture of silver nanoparticles, the nanoparticles showed remarkable antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity. It was discovered that the cytotoxic effect was less harmful, demonstrating biocompatibility. Rosa jasminum extract of AgNps showed good anti-inflammatory efficacy in the EA and BSA assays. Conclusion: From our study we concluded that Silver nanoparticles were created using rosa and jasminum extract, and the nanoparticles displayed impressive cytotoxicity
