Measuring the supply chain performance in Indian garment industry

    Get PDF
Supply chain performance measurement is very necessary for a company, however, it is more important to identify the proper indicators based on which the performance can be evaluated. The paper benchmarks the performance measurement metrics which has been further validated by measuring the performance of garment companies in India. The analysis provides the importance of inventory turnover (ITR) and cash to cash cycle period (CCC) in supply chain performance measurement. The study also develops a relationship between CCC and ITR especially in the garment industry by considering the Indian context. DOI: 10.17762/ijritcc2321-8169.150313

AbstractThe filled skutterudite compounds have attracted much attention of their wide variety of strongly correlated electron behaviour. Density functional theory (DFT) based calculations of electronic and magnetic properties of the filled skutterudites EuFe4Sb12 have been performed using full-potential linearized augmented plane wave (FP-LAPW) method within the framework of the local spin density approximation (LSDA) approach. FeSb-based filled skutterudite compound exhibits variety of interesting features, since there coexist localized 4f-electrons and 3d-electrons with high density of states near Fermi level originating from Eu and Fe. The calculation performed near the Fermi level for density of states shows the compound to be suitable for effective thermoelectric application. The exchange-splitting of Eu-4f states were analysed to explain the ferromagnetic behaviour of EuFe4Sb12 with magnetic moment of 5.35μB

Electrical and optical properties of dip coated Al-doped ZnO thin films : Effect of Al-concentration, starting solution and sample ageing

Undoped and Aluminum doped Zinc Oxide thin films were synthesized by dip coating technique. The electrical properties of the films were studied due to the Aluminum doping, starting solution aging and sample aging. The sheet resistance of ZnO:Al films was minimum at 2.5 at % whereas carrier concentration is maximum. Both undoped and aluminum doped Zinc Oxide thin films were found to be highly transparent lying in between 65 - 79 % in the wavelength range 367 nm to 1038 nm. The band gap of deposited films changed slightly from 3.22 eV to 3.27 eV

Fox’s Head or Lion’s Tail? Work Life Balance of Women Entrepreneurs in Agriculture and farm Ventures and its Antecedent Effect on Quality of Life

Purpose: The objective of this study was to identify the factors that influence work life balance of women entrepreneurs in the field of agriculture and allied products and how the family demands affect their work-life balance. Further, the paper explores the conflict between parental demand and running a business.   Theoretical framework: Literature review points out that despite, an increase in the number of women entrepreneurs over the years, according to the (Global entrepreneurship monitor report, 2020), fewer women pursue entrepreneurship due to various challenges of managing personal and business responsibilities and striking the right balance. Work-life balance is frequently examined in the context of human resource management (Etienne St-Jean and Duhamel M.,2020)but not much has been explored in an entreprenurial context.Hence this study is to investigate and understand the influence of various factors affecting work life balance from an entrepreneurial standpoint.   Design/methodology/approach: Triangulation method was used for the study by utilizing both quantitative and qualitative data. The researchers developed a questionnaire to measure work-life balance experienced by women entrepreneurs with 12 independent variables to measure the dependent variable work-life balance. The sample consisted of 450 women agripreneurs   Findings: The findings reveal that the age of the children is a major determinant of the extent of parental demand a woman goes through in her life and family support systems are critical in reducing overlap and conflict between the life domains. A positive spillover between the domains significantly enhances quality of life of women entrepreneurs.   Research, Practical & Social implications: We suggest a future research into other Personality traits and macro environmental factors which can have a bearing on work life balance of women entrepreneurs which would enable an inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem.   Originality/value: The researchers have concluded that positive spillover between the domains significantly enhances quality of life of women entrepreneurs

Background:  Diabetes mellitus (DM) and hypertension (HT) have significant effect on the mental health of the patient. and. We aimed to estimate the prevalence of depression, and the quality of life among patients with diabetes mellitus and hypertension who attended a secondary care hospital. Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out among 618 patients who had DM and/or HT.  PHQ-9 and WHO-BREF QOL questionnaire were administered to assess depression and health related quality of life respectively. Results: More than 2/3rd of patients had depression. Among those who had depression, nearly half (46%) had moderate depression and 2.1% had severe depression. The proportion of severely depressed patients was higher in diabetes mellitus group compared to the hypertension group.   Patients that were depressed had poorer quality of life compared to non-depressed, and the difference was statistically significant. Conclusion: Patients with diabetes mellitus and hypertension may be screened for depression and managed accordingly

Can Cerbera odollam Fruit Extract Serve as an Anti-microbial Ingredient in Deodorants?

The antimicrobial activity of the methanolic extract of Cerbera odollam (suicide tree) seed kernel was studied against the common skin bacteria viz. Staphylococcus epidermidis, Micrococcus luteus and Propionibacterium acnes. Cerbera kernel methanolic extract failed to record significant antimicrobial effect when compared to Triclosan & Farnesol and hence its use for deodorant benefit may not be viable
