    Behavioural Codes of Clock Integrated Circuit

    We are now submerging into a world where big-board-circuits been replaced by integrated circuits. So to goes into this race, I had been given a task to develop a Very-Large-Scale Integrated (VLSI) Circuit that is capable to run and display a real clock on various displays such as computer monitor or any specific display. This built I.C. will receive a clock signal wave from a wide range of frequencies and able to compute exact time up to milliseconds. It shall able not just to display correct local time and date but also can be reset and display time and date for various locality. The first important step is to master and develop the behavioural code of this clock system. There are two choices of codes, which are Verilog and Verilog Hardware Description Language (VHDL). Only then this develop system will be implemented to the Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). A FPGA is a semiconductor device containing programmable interconnections.     Abstrak Mesin penggoreng kerupuk pasir merupakan mesin yang diciptakan untuk mempermudah pekerjaan dalam menggoreng kerupuk dengan media pasir panas. Mesin penggoreng kerupuk pasir yang sudah ada di pasaran merupakan mesin pengoreng kerupuk dengan penggerak motor listrik dan  ada pula yang masih digerakkan dengan penggerak manual. Kelemahan mesin yang sudah ada dipasaran adalah:  terhentinya proses produksi bila listrik padam, pekerja mudah lelah, putaran drum tidak teratur, suhu penggorengan tidak terkontrol sehingga mempengaruhi kualitas dan produktivitas kerupuk.Dalam perencanaan mesin penggoreng kerupuk pasir semi otomatis dilengkapi pengatur suhu ini dimulai dari menentukan kapasitas mesin penggoreng kerupuk pasir semi otomatis, merancang mekanisme mesin yang digunakan, menghitung daya yang dibutuhkan, menentukan komposisi transmisi, mendesain gambar detail mesin penggoreng kerupuk pasir semi otomatis dilengkapi pengatur suhu. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan dalam perencanaan mesin ini tersusun atas 1 (satu) buah motor listrik AC 0,5 hp 1400 rpm, 1 (satu) buah gearbox dengan rasio reduksi 1/10,  jumlah gigi sprocket penggerak dan yang digerakkan masing-masing z1=14, z2=45, rasio reduksi puli yang direncanakan ipuli=1,06, diameter poros n2 dan n3 masing-masing 37 mm dan 50 mm dengan bahan poros ST42, kecepatan putar drum penggorengan 41,05 rpm, daya yang dibutuhkan P=0,17 hp, kapasitas alat yang didesain 60 kg/jam.     Three Essays on Understanding Social and Economic Responses to Crisis and Disaster Events

    The dissertation comprises three chapters that analyze the social and economic responses to crises and disasters. In the first chapter, I have investigated whether media affects the US official foreign aid channel or crisis related aid. I have examined natural disaster citations in four mainstream US newspapers to analyze whether they influence the Official Development Assistance (ODA) or the short-term crisis related aid need of a recipient following a natural disaster. I created three new media variables to measure the strength of media effect on US ODA, humanitarian aid, and food aid. The empirical analyses indicate that media citation only affects crisis related food and humanitarian assistance. In the subsequent chapters I focus on the impacts of coastal hazards on affected communities. Every year hurricanes of different intensities make landfall in the US. The devastation and havoc of those hurricanes often have long-lasting effects on people\u27s livelihood, infrastructure, and homes. The deadliest hurricane ever recorded in Puerto Rico, Hurricane Maria, made landfall in 2017. In the second chapter, I investigated how the devastation of Hurricane Maria affected the housing prices in Puerto Rico. I gathered home sales data in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria from Zillow, a leading multiple listing service (MLS) platform for real estate transactions in the US. I combined the traditional hedonic price model with Regression Discontinuity Design (RDD) to measure Hurricane Maria\u27s causal (treatment) effect on housing prices in Puerto Rico. In 2017, another hurricane (Hurricane Harvey) wreaked havoc in Texas. Floodwaters inundated homes in Texas and disrupted utility services. Hurricane Harvey resulted in significant economic and social consequences by disrupting public utility services such as power supply, telecommunication , and transportation. The interruption in one sector impacted the operation in other interdependent sectors. In the third chapter, I use household survey data that was collected following the event of Hurricane Harvey to analyze the performance of critical infrastructure systems and the impacts of utility disruptions in Houston, Texas. I incorporated the household survey responses into the Dynamic Inoperability Input-Output Model (DIIM) to estimate inoperability and economic losses in multiple linked sectors. This chapter also assessed the top ten inoperable (stalled) sectors in the affected area

    Despite many beneficial outcomes of the conventional enzyme replacement therapy (ERT), several limitations such as the high-cost of the treatment and various inadvertent side effects including the occurrence of an immunological response against the infused enzyme and development of resistance to enzymes persist. These issues may limit the desired therapeutic outcomes of a majority of the lysosomal storage diseases (LSDs). Furthermore, the biodistribution of the recombinant enzymes into the target cells within the central nervous system (CNS), bone, cartilage, cornea, and heart still remain unresolved. All these shortcomings necessitate the development of more effective diagnosis and treatment modalities against LSDs. Taken all, maximizing the therapeutic response with minimal undesired side effects might be attainable by the development of targeted enzyme delivery systems (EDSs) as a promising alternative to the LSDs treatments, including different types of mucopolysaccharidoses (MPSs ) as well as Fabry, Krabbe, Gaucher and Pompe diseases

    Developing a non-destructive evaluation technique using resonance ultrasound spectroscopy for fission based target

    *The purpose of this thesis is to study Resonance Ultrasound Spectroscopy(RUS) and it's potential to evaluate the change in interfacial thermal resistance due to irradiation. Resonant Ultrasound Spectroscopy is conventionally used to determine the material properties of elastic bodies. It is a nondestructive technique that is very capable of extracting the elastic constants for a complete anisotropic material. Finite Element Method(FEM) is used to determine the natural frequency of a hollow cylinder. FEM was used due to the shape of the object. An experimental system was developed to capture the resonant frequencies of a hollow cylinder which is similar to Molybdenum-99 target. After successfully determining the resonance frequencies from the spectra, the frequencies were inverted to the elastic constants using the finite element model. Radiation effects on elastic constants was also studied. An investigation was made to assess the usefulness of RUS in in evaluating radiation damage of materials. An experimental study was also completed to analyze the differences in RUS spectra in a contact pressure analysis between two cylinders of a Molybdenum-99 target
