One can not question the fact that a motif of a letter occupies a very significant
position in the eighteenth century French paintings and literature . Although the motif of
a woman reading a letter was used much earlier by the Dutch painters such as Vermeer, there
are also many eighteenth century French painters (Raoux, Fragonard, Chardin or Pierre),
who show women devoted to this particular activity. Thus, the popularity of letters in literature and art results from an important role correspondence played at tha t time. This paper
emphasizes the description of a process of writing letters by a protagonist and its further
influence on th e receiver’s emotional and physical state of mind and body. Letters comprise
a source of pleasure for both — a writer and a reader. In painting, a letter serves as the key
to the interpretatio n of a painting, though its content is neither revealed nor comprehensible.
The way of presenting characters and space, and a central position of a letter in the
considered paintings may determine the interpretation — it can be treated as a signal of
a relationship between lovers or its reminiscence. Considering the intimacy of the presented
scene and a confidential character of a love letter, the canvas can differently predispose
the receivers and make them think about sentimental intrigues
(fragm.
The influence of volumetric performance settings of a multi-piston pump on parameters of forced vibrations
The main objective of presented article is finding the relationship between the change in the intensity of the volumetric flow and values of vibration parameters (indirect measurements – vibration sensors mounted on the pump body). The study was subjected to the multi-piston pump (type PV Plus made by the Parker Hannifin) equipped with built-in volumetric performance controller
The present study argues that the French first-person novel, which came into
fashion in the Enlightenment period through the adoption of epistolary, diary or memoir
forms, or through their admixture in texts, lends itself particularly well to “reading
pacts”. The sociopolitical context of the period favored romantic fictions of intimate
literature that were attuned to the events of the day. In this paratextual discourse, novelists
relied on contemporary events to initiate readers into questions such as the status
and the goals of novelistic writing, while attempting to legitimize and to valorize the
latter
Multi-criteria optimization of the Dither current intensity in the case of proportional valve
The paper presents experimental studies of the impact of Dither current settings at: the hysteresis of proportional valves, pressure pulsations in hydraulic systems and vibration of the piston rod of hydraulic cylinders. Measurements were carried out for several parameter settings of the Dither current, including the manufacturer default settings and without the Dither control. On the basis of obtained results (using the multi-criteria optimization) optimal settings have been determined (frequency and amplitude). The optimum frequency of the Dither current intensity was compared with the value of the natural frequency of examined hydraulic cylinder (taking into account a hydraulic stiffness) and with the cut-off frequency of tested valve
VARIABILITY, HERITABILITY AND CORRELATIONS OF EGG SHAPE IN THE ZATORSKA GOOSE
The experiment was aimed at the evaluation of inheritance of goose egg measurements, egg shape indices and egg weight as well as the relationship between these traits. The research was carried out in the flock of the Zatorska geese, belonging to the FAO registered genetic resources of poultry. Seven hundred sixty-one eggs from pedigree bred geese in their first to fourth reproduction seasons were included in the analysis. Average egg shape index was 68.8%, average shell surface area was 140.6 cm2. Egg weight of geese in different age was 165 g. Heritabilities and genetic and phenotypic correlations estimated between the analysed traits of goose egg are presented
W niniejszym studium poddano gatunek powieściowy systematyczno-diachronicznej analizie ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem relacji pomiędzy różnymi formami narracyjnymi przejętymi w powieści (list, pamiętnik i dziennik intymny). W bogatej tradycji powieści francuskiej i europejskiej (np. w twórczości Lawrence’a Sterne’a) dostrzec można znamiona hybrydyczności, polegającej na wchłanianiu wszelkich społecznych form komunikacji. Z tego względu wyniki analiz posłużą przede wszystkim badaniom z zakresu historii i teorii literatury, a zwłaszcza badaniom dotyczącym powieści dziewiętnastowiecznej.
