    THE IMPLEMENTATION OF PORTFOLIO-BASED TEACHING MODEL TO IMPROVE STUDENT’S ACTIVITIES OF ACCOUNTING EDUCATION STUDY PROGRAM IN THE TEACHING AND LEARNING PROCESS OF AUDITING

    This research aims at exploring students’ activities during the teaching and learning process of auditing which employs portfolio-based teaching models. The design of this research is action research. The subject of the research was 101 students’ of accounting education study program who take auditing courses in the academic year of 2008/2009. The data were collected through observation and documentation. At the end, the conclusion was taken to improve the activities. The research findings show that the student’s learning activities during the teaching and learning of auditing improve indicated by the 10% improvement of the activities in identifying the cases. Besides, the activities of cases selection for classroom study improve up to 5%. The activities of collecting the study cases improve up to 10%. The activities of presenting the portfolio improve up to 10%, the activities of presenting the data improve up to 10%. The score of student’s portfolio tasks ranging between 86-90 increases up to 31,58%, the score ranging between 81-85 increases up to 3,76%, and the score ranging between76-80 decreases up to 35,35%

    Ordinary-derivative formulation of conformal totally symmetric arbitrary spin bosonic fields

    Conformal totally symmetric arbitrary spin bosonic fields in flat space-time of even dimension greater than or equal to four are studied. Second-derivative (ordinary-derivative) formulation for such fields is developed. We obtain gauge invariant Lagrangian and the corresponding gauge transformations. Gauge symmetries are realized by involving the Stueckelberg and auxiliary fields. Realization of global conformal boost symmetries on conformal gauge fields is obtained. Modified de Donder gauge condition and de Donder-Stueckelberg gauge condition are introduced. Using the de Donder-Stueckelberg gauge frame, equivalence of the ordinary-derivative and higher-derivative approaches is demonstrated. On-shell degrees of freedom of the arbitrary spin conformal field are analyzed. Ordinary-derivative light-cone gauge Lagrangian of conformal fields is also presented.     Quantum AdS_5 x S^5 superstring in the AdS light-cone gauge

    We consider the AdS_5 x S^5 superstring in the light-cone gauge adapted to a massless geodesic in AdS5 in the Poincare patch. The resulting action has a relatively simple structure which makes it a natural starting point for various perturbative quantum computations. We illustrate the utility of this AdS light-cone gauge action by computing the 1-loop and 2-loop corrections to the null cusp anomalous dimension reproducing in a much simpler and efficient way earlier results obtained in conformal gauge. This leads to a further insight into the structure of the superstring partition function in non-trivial background.Comment: 21pages, Late

    How genealogies are affected by the speed of evolution

    In a series of recent works it has been shown that a class of simple models of evolving populations under selection leads to genealogical trees whose statistics are given by the Bolthausen-Sznitman coalescent rather than by the well known Kingman coalescent in the case of neutral evolution. Here we show that when conditioning the genealogies on the speed of evolution, one finds a one parameter family of tree statistics which interpolates between the Bolthausen-Sznitman and Kingman's coalescents. This interpolation can be calculated explicitly for one specific version of the model, the exponential model. Numerical simulations of another version of the model and a phenomenological theory indicate that this one-parameter family of tree statistics could be universal. We compare this tree structure with those appearing in other contexts, in particular in the mean field theory of spin glasses

    Bell-Type Quantum Field Theories

    In [Phys. Rep. 137, 49 (1986)] John S. Bell proposed how to associate particle trajectories with a lattice quantum field theory, yielding what can be regarded as a |Psi|^2-distributed Markov process on the appropriate configuration space. A similar process can be defined in the continuum, for more or less any regularized quantum field theory; such processes we call Bell-type quantum field theories. We describe methods for explicitly constructing these processes. These concern, in addition to the definition of the Markov processes, the efficient calculation of jump rates, how to obtain the process from the processes corresponding to the free and interaction Hamiltonian alone, and how to obtain the free process from the free Hamiltonian or, alternatively, from the one-particle process by a construction analogous to "second quantization."     Regulation of Ministry of State Apparatus Empowerment (Permenpan) Number PER/05/M.PAN/03/2008, on the auditing standards of APIP (Government Internal Auditor), regulates the characteristics of APIP. The adequate characteristics of APIP are expected to support the realization of good governance. However, many problems related to the characteristics of APIP of Dompu District Inspectorate still occur, con-sisting of its expertise, independence, and objectivity. All of these problems are sus-pected to have caused agency problems in local government. This research was con-ducted using phenomenological qualitative method with a case study approach. This study used participatory observation, in-depth interview, and documentation for anal-ysis. The research found as the following: 1) the existence of agency problem caused by the conflict of interests between local government and APIP; 2) the lack of APIP’s mastery of accounting standards and; 3) the lack of APIP’s knowledge of law, account-ing, engineering, public administration, agriculture, statistics, and state administra-tion. In addition, the problems of independence and objectivity are still often found in the characteristics of APIP of Dompu District Inspectorate when auditing. Overall, the inadequate characteristics of APIP have been unable to improve participation, accountability related to financial statement quality, rule of law, and transparency of Dompu District Government

    The role of toll-like receptors (TLRs) in bacteria-induced maturation of murine dendritic cells (DCs) - Peptidoglycan and lipoteichoic acid are inducers of DC maturation and require TLR2

    Toll-like receptors (TLRs) have been found to be key elements in pathogen recognition by the host immune system. Dendritic cells (DCs) are crucial for both innate immune responses and initiation of acquired immunity. Here we focus on the potential involvement of TLR ligand interaction in DC maturation. TLR2 knockout mice and mice carrying a TLR4 mutation (C3H/HeJ) were investigated for DC maturation induced by peptidoglycan (PGN), lipopolysaccharide (LPS), or lipoteichoic acids (LTAs). All stimuli induced maturation of murine bone marrow-derived DCs in control mice. TLR2− /− mice lacked maturation upon stimulation with PGN, as assessed by expression of major histocompatibility complex class II, CD86, cytokine, and chemokine production, fluorescein isothiocyanate-dextran uptake, and mixed lymphocyte reactions, while being completely responsive to LPS. A similar lack of maturation was observed in C3H/HeJ mice upon stimulation with LPS. DC maturation induced by LTAs from two different types of bacteria was severely impaired in TLR2− /−, whereas C3H/HeJ mice responded to LTAs in a manner similar to wild-type mice. We demonstrate that DC maturation is induced by stimuli from Gram-positive microorganisms, such as PGN and LTA, with similar efficiency as by LPS. Finally, we provide evidence that TLR2 and TLR4 interaction with the appropriate ligand is essential for bacteria-induced maturation of DCs

    Effect of vibration on the scour process around cylindrical structures under unidirectional flow in a sandy bed

    The structures that support wind turbines in offshore wind farms are dynamically sensitive and can vibrate as a consequence of their slenderness and their location in severe environments subject to strong wind and wave load. The granular soils in which such structures are often located are highly responsive to vibrations; depending on their initial state, these soils might experience processes such as compaction, dilation, and liquefaction. Their behaviour in response to structural movement and the effect on the rate of scour is the subject of the present work. Laboratory experiments have been conducted to investigate the effects of vibration on the scour process in granular soil. A series of storms were simulated by a continuous sequence of periods with and without vibration applied to a model pile. The results show that although scour depths are initially reduced by vibration (backfilling), the lateral extent of the scour hole grows and the final scour depth and extent can be significantly greater than for an equivalent test without vibration

    Are All Particles Identical?

    We consider the possibility that all particles in the world are fundamentally identical, i.e., belong to the same species. Different masses, charges, spins, flavors, or colors then merely correspond to different quantum states of the same particle, just as spin-up and spin-down do. The implications of this viewpoint can be best appreciated within Bohmian mechanics, a precise formulation of quantum mechanics with particle trajectories. The implementation of this viewpoint in such a theory leads to trajectories different from those of the usual formulation, and thus to a version of Bohmian mechanics that is inequivalent to, though arguably empirically indistinguishable from, the usual one. The mathematical core of this viewpoint is however rather independent of the detailed dynamical scheme Bohmian mechanics provides, and it amounts to the assertion that the configuration space for N particles, even N ``distinguishable particles,'' is the set of all N-point subsets of physical 3-space.Comment: 12 pages LaTeX, no figure
