Permutation symmetry for the tomographic probability distribution of a system of identical particles
The symmetry properties under permutation of tomograms representing the
states of a system of identical particles are studied. Starting from the action
of the permutation group on the density matrix we define its action on the
tomographic probability distribution. Explicit calculations are performed in

Switching of Magnetic Moments of Nanoparticles by Surface Acoustic Waves
We report evidence of the magnetization reversal in nanoparticles by surface
acoustic waves (SAWs). The experimental system consists of isolated magnetite
nanoparticles dispersed on a piezoelectric substrate. Magnetic relaxation from
a saturated state becomes significantly enhanced in the presence of the SAW at
a constant temperature of the substrate. The dependence of the relaxation on
SAW power and frequency has been investigated. The effect is explained by the
effective ac magnetic field generated by the SAW in the nanoparticles.Comment: Accepted in Europhysics Letter
Circular Orbits in Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet Gravity
The stability under radial and vertical perturbations of circular orbits
associated to particles orbiting a spherically symmetric center of attraction
is study in the context of the n-dimensional: Newtonian theory of gravitation,
Einstein's general relativity, and Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet theory of gravitation.
The presence of a cosmological constant is also considered. We find that this
constant as well as the Gauss-Bonnet coupling constant are crucial to have

The supernova impostor PSN J09132750+7627410 and its progenitor
We report the results of our follow-up campaign of the supernova impostor PSN
J09132750+7627410, based on optical data covering . From the
beginning, the transient shows prominent narrow Balmer lines with P-Cygni
profiles, with a blue-shifted absorption component becoming more prominent with
time. Along the of the spectroscopic monitoring, broad
components are never detected in the hydrogen lines, suggesting that these
features are produced in slowly expanding material. The transient reaches an
absolute magnitude at maximum, a typical
luminosity for supernova impostors. Amateur astronomers provided
of archival observations of the host galaxy, NGC 2748. The
detection of the quiescent progenitor star in archival images obtained with the
Hubble Space Telescope suggests it to be an \msun white-yellow

Forces on a boiling bubble in a developing boundary layer, in microgravity with g-jitter and in terrestrial conditions
Terrestrial and microgravity flow boiling experiments were carried out with the same test rig, comprising a locally heated artificial cavity in the center of a channel near the frontal edge of an intrusive glass bubble generator. Bubble shapes were in microgravity generally not far from those of truncated spheres,which permitted the computation of inertial lift and drag from potential flow theory for truncated spheres approximating the actual shape. For these bubbles, inertial lift is counteracted by drag and both forces are of the same order of magnitude as g-jitter. A generalization of the Laplace equation is found which applies to a deforming bubble attached to a plane wall and yields the pressure difference between the hydrostatic pressures in the bubble and at the wall, p. A fully independent way to determine the overpressure p is given by a second Euler-Lagrange equation. Relative differences have been found to be about 5% for both terrestrial and microgravity bubbles. A way is found to determine the sum of the two counteracting major force contributions on a bubble in the direction normal to the wall from a single directly measurable quantity. Good agreement with expectation values for terrestrial bubbles was obtained with the difference in radii of curvature averaged over the liquid-vapor interface, (1/R2 â 1/R1), multiplied with the surface tension coefficient, Ï. The new analysis methods of force components presented also permit the accounting for a surface tension gradient along the liquid-vapor interface. No such gradients were found for the present measurements

Time-Dependent Invariants and Green's Functions in the Probability Representation of Quantum Mechanics
In the probability representation of quantum mechanics, quantum states are
represented by a classical probability distribution, the marginal distribution
function (MDF), whose time dependence is governed by a classical evolution
equation. We find and explicitly solve, for a wide class of Hamiltonians, new
equations for the Green's function of such an equation, the so-called classical
propagator. We elucidate the connection of the classical propagator to the
quantum propagator for the density matrix and to the Green's function of the
Schr\"odinger equation. Within the new description of quantum mechanics we give
a definition of coherence solely in terms of properties of the MDF and we test
the new definition recovering well known results. As an application, the forced
parametric oscillator is considered . Its classical and quantum propagator are
